    Horizon Services
Tech arrived on time and went into basement to check the heater which was not firing up to heat the house. My wife say he was down there for about an hour checking and diagnosing the heater. He was done and in his truck writing up his findings when I came home from work.  He was done that  then came back into the house and I was then home. He said that I needed the following: control board $737.00, Motor (said there was oil coming from it) $899.00.. Pressure switch $449.00 motor $710.00..Total 2,790.00..  He then said that the system was old (10yrs) and that I should think of getting a new furnace about $8,000.00.  He said that they could come out the next day to give me an estament. Me thinking that I needed a new heater said yes and a appointment was made for me. Cost of Horizon was 79.50   Well me liking to get another opinion call a small area HVAC company. They showed up today and I told him straight up that I had Horizon here and this what they said I needed. Well they checked for oil around the motor which he said there is none in there, checked the mother board for a short and it was fine, checked the pressure switch and it to was fine. Well this company checked the thermostat which Horizon never did and said it was that. Cost parts, labor and service call $160.00. Well what a rip off this Horizon is and the honesty of this local guy. I did have a service contract with Horizon but that will be gone as I will never use them again. Guess we have to pay for all of those TV commercials.  I saw on another post posted before mine that some one also had them try to push for a new heater. So people be aware. As of this writing heater is working fine and I have money for Christmas.

    Quick Fix Appliance Services LLC
Our oven wasn't working and I got the name of this provider from Angie's List.  Called and they wanted to come out same day.  Awesome.  Scheduled for the following Monday (by my schedule) and he was right on time.  Called 15 minutes before he came.  Totally professional, even cleaned the mess under my stove!  Price under what others would have charged and looked at our ice maker and cleaned the condenser in our freezer for free!   Also told me about the Angie's List coupon he gives without me even reminding him! Will definitely call again when we have appliance issues.

    Tim's Appliance Repair Inc
Before buying a new washer, I called Tim's to assess whether my old machine was repairable. The service tech arrived on time and seemed to be very knowledgeable. His opinion was that it was not worth the money to fix it. Total cost for their service was $74.15. I used them on another occasion for a leaking refrigerator ice maker. The problem was quickly identified and rectified.

    LaCarrubba Electric Inc
LaCarruba was a pleasure to deal with. Jeff, the owner, came out promptly to give me a quote for the work. Unlike other electricians who quoted for the job, Jeff was willing to do exactly what I wanted done. His price was well below the other quotes I received. We had to reschedule twice die to weather and LaCarubba was very easy to reschedule with. The morningof the job Jeff and his crew showed up right on time. Roberto and Orlando, the electricians Jeff brought to do the work, were great. they went to work with respect for the house, used drop clothes to minimize any potential mess and cleaned up after themselves. Most importantly, they got the work done properly and efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to use LaCarruba again.

When I spoke with the owner of the company, Ralph Messina, I could tell he was arrogant and not a personality I would do well with.  I specifically told the receptionist to not send the owner as I knew we'd have a personality conflict, at best.  (Turned out to be the guys wife).  When the part "supposedly" came in...the son did not older man and a kid in training.  They told me the son whom had come two times before was ill.
The man started pulling out wires from the back of the stove, saying the part didn't fit...that the stove was 10 yrs. old and they didn't make parts for it any longer...he kept taking things off, etc.  When I started getting nervous I asked a question and realized he was the dad...the owner.  I was upset as I had asked specifically for him to not come.  He started getting confrontational, started removing more things from the stove, pulling wires off and I was now late for a doctor's appointment.
I had told him upon his arrival that I had to leave for a doctor's appt. at a specific time as it was with a specialist and couldn't be rescheduled.  I had an hour.  He said, "No problem..this will take 10 min."  An hour later, I had to leave.  He got nasty and left the back unscrewed from the back of the stove, left the wires unattached and left.  I asked him to not return.  I had to buy a whole new stove/oven.  All that was wrong with the original stove was the larger burner ring had burned out.
I would NEVER have this guy back in my home.  He is obnoxious, arrogant and left me stove completely unoperable.  The son is very nice and good...but didn't know how to fix my stove and made up the story about the part not fitting in order to leave and solicit help from his dad.  Don't use them!!!

    Sam Wexler Plumbing Inc
After calling another provider only to learn that their idea of "emergency" work left something to be desired, I found Sam Wexler Plumbing on Angie's List and called because they are local to my area. The call was answered on the second ring. I explained my situation to a very friendly woman who said that she was pretty sure they could come out today ( Saturday) to fix the problem, and she'd call me back. She ended up calling me back twice: first to say that yes, they could do the work, and second, to give me an approximate arrival time. The technician, Patrick, actually showed up sooner than expected, quickly diagnosed the situation, and determined that I needed a new garbage disposal. He had one in the truck, quoted me a price and, very efficiently and smoothly, de-installed the broken one, and installed the new one. My experience with Sam Wexler Plumbing was fabulous!

    Dave's Appliance Repair & Parts
They came on the same day we called. About 2hours after we called, they arrived aNd diagnosed the problem within 5 minutes. They had the replacement part on the truck. Problem solved within 1 hour. Price for labor seemed high for the amount of work done.

    A & R Appliance
They came out on time and quickly. The young man immediately identified the problem and fixed it right away. I only wish he would have noticed the squeaking, because now my dryer squeaks something awful when it's cold. oh well. Seemed a BIT expensive but we got great service.
