Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Swarthmore

Bondurant Plumbling and Heating answered my call and said that a plumber would be sent out soon. Mr. Dave Herrington arrived very quickly after the initial call. He came into the cellar, and checked a leak that had resulted in water in one corner of the basement. Mr. Herrington showed me a split in the the side of the old pipe and said it would have to be cut out and replaced. Asked for an estimate, he came up with a figure of $550. I thought this was fair and authorized him to do the work. He examined the water heater and showed me how it had failed. He said that to replace it and install a new expansion tank would cost $1200. I also approved of this work to be done. Cutting out the old iron pipe provided some difficulty, but he did it carefully and made the replacement with new materials. Then He brought in the new water heater and installed it. The work took the better part of a day. He did a good cleanup after the job. I must comment on how pleasant Mr. Herrington is. It was very easy to interact with him. I felt very confident both in his ability to do the job, and in his integrity as a person. I was very pleased in dealing with him directly. I was and continue to be completely satisfied. I would highly recommend both Bondurant Plumbing and Mr. Herrington

Mike was very responsive - came out same day I called to review and plan the installation. Installation day went great - a little over an hour to install and everything was cleaned up and in working order. Nice to have reliable hot water again. While their prices might be a bit higher than others, it is definitely worth the peace of mind knowing they have quality products and professional workmanship. Thanks Mike!

All employees were prompt, efficient, careful and professional. I believe the price was more than fair for all services.

I have previously had a complete bathroom renovation a powder room renovation.  My two heating systems have been maintained and one updated to provide greater efficiency. .

I also have had misc plumbing repairs,  drain cleaning, and chaukling      The above comments apply to every service calls.

This was not an emergency.  I found my hot water heater leaking on Friday.  I shut the water intake off and searched Angie's List for a plumber in my area.  Benjamin Franklin looked good since their reports were mostly A's and their address was listed as Glen Mills which is close to me.  The girl on the phone was very friendly and explained there is an additional charge for an emergency call on the weekend.  I said I could wait and an appointment was made for Monday morning.  They called first thing in the morning to confirm the appointment and a plumber was sent right away.  He arrived on time and that's when I found out he came from Wilmington, DE.  That's not a big deal it's only 30 minutes away.  He looked at the old unit and said definitely it needed to be replaced.  He told me it was 20 years old based on codes on the unit.  I was very surprised when I found out the job would cost $1430.00.  I thought that was expensive, but he was already here.  I went ahead and had the job done.  The plumber had to go to a supply house for the new hot water heater.  That took over an hour by the time he got back.  The installation of the new unit went fine and so did the removal of the old unit.  However, my HVAC technician came 2 days later to finish a job for me and he said I was over charged.  I later found out from a plumber friend of mine that what I was charged was several hundred dollars more than the going rate.  I don't use friends to do work.  That way I don't lose a friend if I don't the job they do.  My HVAC man also said that the new gas valve was installed on the wrong side of the union and I should have been given a completely new exhaust pipe, not just an elbow.  He replaced the exhaust pipe for me.  I don't think I would use Benjamin Franklin plumbing again strictly because of the price.  Every aspect of the job was very good, but I'm sure I can get very good from another plumber at a cheaper price.

I think I am being somewhat generous with an overall rating of B and a price rating of C.  I could have refused to have work done and just paid the call charge, but I still would have had to get someone to do the job.  I didn't find out that the price was excessive until later and that's my fault.  I could have made phone calls regarding the price.

I really appreciated the homework Mr. Cooley did before showing up, his responsiveness, and his honesty about ultimately not being able to repair my high efficiency boiler. In his defense, it took two trips, a lot of head scratching and some luck by the factory trained repairman to figure out that it was actually an electrical problem to one of the sensors. I definitely recommend Cooley Plumbing and Heating and will use them for any further plumbing issues I may have.

These boys have done a number of different things for me in a number of different houses. They have always responded promptly. They have scheduled and completed the work efficiently. They have charged reasonably. They have returned to resolve any issues. Their installation of my tankless water heater was such a work of art that I asked them to sign it. They clean up after themselves. They really care about the quality of their work.

Mr. Lista is a competent professional, who explained the pros and cons of the old and new heaters. We were unfamiliar with the brand of the new heater (Bradford), but accepted his claim of its high quality. This was an emergency situation allowing us no time to shop for other quotes, so we can't properly judge the cost factor, hence the B rating. The bill was split about equally between parts and labor.

I wasn't present for the installation (my wife was), but she had no complaints. It was installed quickly and without leaving a mess. Everything was as expected and promised.
