AJ & L StructuresGreat! I called on Sunday. They called me back Monday Morning. They showed up exactly when they said they would on Monday morning. They were prompt, efficient, polite, and didn’t leave a mess. The work was guaranteed for 20 yrs. We will be calling them again.- Joan P.

AMy Builders IncExcellent. I can always count on Mike's honesty and quality. We thought we could just repair a door sill and frame... but the door really needed to be replaced.. is was misshapen and not even locking correctly. He discussed everything with me first. He got me an economic but quality door and charged a reasonable price for installation. I also have a basement door that is near a drain and it was allowing water to come in. Mike advised me on cleaning up the drain and he was ingenious in his solution of cutting off the existing door and raising the floor sill with treated lumber and caulking it all. I have had no water issues there since and my garage back door is beautiful and completely secure now. I highly recommend My Builders Inc for any kind of repair or construction job. (cost of service included all materials and labor and clean up!)- Lisa T.

CMountain Road Structuresstarted when he said but rather then taking 1-1/2 weeks if took almost 2 months and they still have some finish work to complete. Other than starting the day he said he would they rarely showed up before 10 AM that was early. Many days we were lucky to see them one day a week. We are still waiting for a wagon shed to be built. He said they would be there Monday and that was 2 weeks ago. Not sure when they will be completed. The Building does look nice however when you look closely there are many finishing touched that are lacking- susan s.

FBTM ContractingRJ promised me when this job was done I would be so happy with his work. Let me tell you my 15 yr. old grandson could have done a better job than BTM. I had a problem with rain water so a French drain (thank God I had someone else do this) was put in. I ask RJ to check for mold, all he did was pull a piece of paneling back & peek in only to tell me there was no mold. My first clue as to the kind of job this would be when completed. Siding was stapled on over old paneling & over this winter 2 pieces fell down only to see that no staples were even in those strips. He planned to put bamboo on the floor & I was very concerned that it would not hold up to hot/cold weather, traffic area, etc. He assured me it was durable & I would be pleased. He did not make sure cement floor was level, glue did not stick, bamboo popped up right were the major walking area was. After several unsuccessful tries I suggested indoor-outdoor carpet. I paid additional for carpet to be placed. Proper measurements were not done because carpet does not fit snug in front of 2 doors & original cement can be seen. A horrible job, to say the least. Doorbell was replaced & the original wires were cut so short my doorbell no longer works. My own personal supplies from my garaged were used & nothing was deducted from my bill. He left the outside of two windows, that he replaced, unfinished. I will now have to have someone else finish that job, try to fix the door bell, put something on the edge of the rug so it does not fray. He also replaced to 2 front windows & neither one will close tight enough so they can be locked. I paid for 2 entrance doors (1 to garage 1 to basement) & he hung the new doors on the old frame. I now have 2 door frames standing in my garage. You may wonder why I haven't had him back. If anyone out there decides to hire BTM contracting you will find his contract is very generic, he said he had a lifetime warranty but you will not get any copies for your files it is only his "so-called word." You get no pricing for windows/doors etc., no matter how many times I requested copies. He is more worried about the customer knowing what discount he gets. I was a recent widow & my husband always did any work around our home. I had never dealt with a contractor before. RJ was just getting started in this area & the father of several young children. I felt compassion for him & problems that he had told me he was going through. My mistake! I had coffee, donuts every morning & pizza several times for lunch, for RJ & his crew. I treated him like I would like someone to treat my sons. However, RJ is not a man of principles. He still owes me $200 but after many calls I can not get him to answer. BTM is now located at 5619 East Pleasant Valley Blvd in Tyrone Pa. My deceased husband always said, "anyone now-a-day can slap a sign on his truck & claim to be something he is not" no truer words were ever spoken regarding BTM Contracting.- Shirley S.

FCaliber Pole BuildingsHe began the job on a Thursday. The first problem was when they set the garage in front of the kitchen window and when placing the roof it positioned right into the window. Their solution was to cut a chunk of the roof overhang. Then it rained. The water that ran off of the roof dumped over the top of my kitchen window. I was upset and called them about it. After the rain stopped we were cleaning up outside and Greg appeared unexpectedly in a rage. He approached me swearing and threatening me with complaints about my phone call to them. After a battle he walked of the job. I was faced with a frame, walls, roof and tar paper. Everything was a mess. For the next two days I was unable to communicate with him or resolve any conflict. After 3 weeks he finally agreed to come back. He'd already been paid $2600 for those first two days. After 3 or 4 more days of work I paid another $2300 and then he walked off the job again. Communication problems began again. I could not get a return call to any of my messages. Nothing was completed and water damage was beginning show signs of destruction to what was in place. It's a year later now and I have been spending the past several months with legal processing, attorney general complaints and we are still faced with an incomplete garage. We are fighting for the return of our last payment to him so we can hire a reputable company to finish the job. We've already had to pay others to take care of some of the stages of the work. It has become a costly experience and now he has appealed the law suit. I decided to report this to Angie's List as well.- Darlene L.

ACan’t say enough good things about Mike! Requested a quote through Angie’s List and heard back from him within 24 hours. We had water coming into our basement during hard rain due to not having window wells installed and we wanted to get them put in ASAP. Mike came by to take a look the day he called and he fit us in the next day. He and my husband did the work together which saved a lot of time and money. Mike was extremely positive, enthusiastic, and generally a pleasure to be around! We have a few more jobs around the house we need done and will definitely be calling him again.

AAfter the circuit breaker panel in our garage failed and caught on fire, I contacted Dave Pringle to assess the damage. He was able to start on the project the following day and kept me updated on the progress he made, explaining various codes and how the components worked in the system when I had questions. I found him to be very knowledgeable and friendly in all our conversations. Dave went above and beyond to ensure our house was once again safe and functioning as it was prior to the fire. For the quality of his work and reasonable prices he charged, I would not hesitate to recommend him for any electrical work you may have. FIt’s been over a year since Epic construction and Rick Steele abandoned my project and I had to complete it on my own by paying extra to have it done. They came recommended by an architect I hired to do the design for finishing a basement. Even though he was referred by the architect, right before the project was to begin he suggested we let go of the architect because he would get in the way. The architect did repeat himself a lot and meetings were long because of him and rick Steele promised to “personally” oversee the project so I don’t need the architect to do it. So we let the architect go. He also told us we didn’t need permits as we were not doing any structural changes. I believe 100% we needed permits but this was another way for him to do things subpar and get away with it. The project was supposed to take 3 month. It was 6 months into project when they left uncompleted. They were doing the bathroom tile and the tiles were not flush and it looked like the work of a 2 yr old. They agreed to reorder tiles and finish but they never did. I had to purchase the tile again, pay someone to take down old tile and redo work. They did not put hand rail in going down the stairs, no foot rails at the bar. I used 2 different wallpapers for the basement and they flip flopped them on wrong area and they had to be stripped off and ordered agin. The one wallpaper was on back order so when they left the project, I had to order the paper myself and pay someone to put it up. The bathroom door handles were installed with the lock on outside. The mural was put up in gym wrinkled. I ordered pendent lighting from a company in California and they blew them out while installing and frayed the wires so bad, not repairable and I had to pay to ship them back to be told they are not fixable and get new pendants and I hired an electrician when the left to install them. They also got rid of an outlet and covered it with wall paper. They ordered the wrong ceiling tiles and tried to convince me it was the exact one that I was holding a sample for.I showed them that this looks nothing like the sample, they said it was because the sample is smaller scale. I turned over a ceiling tile and showed them the numbers don’t match with the sample. I had to go to a local store that had the ceiling tile displayed in their showroom, borrow it from them and show epic construction that we had the wrong tiles. They said those tiles are too deep and we don’t have enough space but they spent weeks arguing with me that the ones they placed were the ones I ordered. They are crooked. They hire very young workers and I’m not sure if they are part of a votech program. we were out of town for 10 days towards end of project when our HVAC guy informed us that the architect we let go 6 months previous came over and checked out the basement while we were gone. When we asked Rick about it, he said he told him he could go. I gave rick access to my home to finish the work while were gone and not to have people come by to check it out. This project was an absolute disappointment with absolutely no deadlines met and the job was not even finished. I paid for an architect, the HVAC portion of project, the granite and still paid him over $100k for a basement project. Complete scammer. This will catch up to him even though his wife is an attorney.

Recent Review:
FI hired Caliber Pole Buildings in May to build a pole building. The contract says it would be finished by June 30, weather permitting. June was rainy, to be fair, but July and August were so dry that we were in a drought. Caliber Pole Buildings works with an excavator, Mark Hallman. They are next door neighbors. Every delay that Caliber had was blamed on Mark Hallman not having his work finished. When I called Hallman, he said that CPB told him they didn't need him to do anything at that point. Neither wants to return phone calls and e-mails to CPB may be answered after a week or not at all. Communication is next to impossible with them. They will return calls and e-mails when you start the contract and when they are about to get your money. Once they have your money this changes. They did not require money up front, but wanted me to pay each material supplier as they made a delivery. I work out of state and could not be there for multiple deliveries. So I paid $15,000 up front to cover most of this. I paid a second payment up front of $4325 on 7/7/2015 to finish the work. This second payment consisted mostly of pouring concrete outside the building and finishing up. From this point on I couldn't get the work finished. I contacted them by phone and e-mail without any results. I was told that they needed the excavator to do work before they could do anything. He said they told him they didn't need him. I offered to rent a backhoe and do the work myself. I didn't get a response. I e-mailed that I wanted to meet with them at the site to know what needed done so that I could do the excavation work, and that I would take a week off work to do this. No response. I tracked both down to their houses and tried to talk to each of them. When I went to Greg Domanick's house (Caliber Pole Building), he came out with his fists clenched, jaw clenched, face red and looking like he was ready to fight. He told me that nobody had ever come to his house before and that he didn't appreciate me going to where his wife works. I had gone to the Smithmill post office to find out where they lived and by chance his wife works there. I had no idea. We talked and I thought that we had things worked out. They did a little bit of work the following week and Hallman did more excavating. I then realized that the building permit did not show that 2 inspections were done. I called the inspector to see if this needed done and was informed that the first 2 inspections were not done and needed to be. I called Caliber on September 2, 2015 and left a message that the inspections had not been done and that I wanted to meet with them that evening or the following evening to get this worked out. I received a return call that afternoon from Greg and it was full of "F-you's" and ended with "I'll finish your building when h*** freezes over!" I called the inspector to come out the next day so we could see what needed to be done to pass inspection. At this point I didn't intend to wait until "h*** freezes over" to have my project finished and knew I needed to hire a second contractor. The first inspection required the inspector to see that the posts were set to the correct depth and that concrete was poured properly around them. This was to be done before any other work was done. At this point the building was mostly built and a concrete floor was over the posts. To pass this required digging up the posts. Fortunately, I saw the holes dug and the concrete, so I was able to sign an affidavit for that. The second missed inspection required the inspector to see the headers attached to the posts and the trusses attached to the headers. No other work was to be done until this inspection was done. These were missing bolts and straps to connect everything. We were also missing bracing in the corners of the walls and bracing of the trusses. Metal siding had already been put over the headers from the outside, so putting the bolts in these trusses would mean removing the metal siding or going through the siding. The second inspection was failed. I contacted a second contractor and he came right out to finish the work. Without me telling him what failed he walked around and pointed out everything that was missing. To finish the concrete work that had not been finished, and to do the work to bring the building up to code, the cost was $4852.48.
