Fitness & Weight Management reviews in State College

We have been shopping at Eddie's for nearly 20 years. We have had wonderful experiences with Eddie and his staff. Eddie has a real talent for finding capable and courteous staff--he doesn't hire the snarky kids that can occasionally be found at bike shops. We even bought our kids' bikes beginning from when they were quite young from Eddie and that worked out very well. Those quality bikes were passed down to relatives' families as their own kids grew, which I don't think would have been possible with the disposable bikes from a big box super mega mart. Highly recommended.

    East Coast Health & Fitness
East Coast Health and Fitness It's an overall gym membership and they have fitness classes, group fitness and that's what I tend to do a lot of. They do offer tanning and they have a cycling room. I heard that they have like a massage room, but I've never seen it and I've been going there for like two years. There is no pool, they do have separate locker rooms. There is a dry sauna in the locker room, I've never tried it. I don't know how good it is. I would prefer the whirlpool honestly. It's a nice treat after a workout. The gym equipment is kind of on the older side, but it's not in bad shape, I just think it could be arranged better, in a better manner so you are not kind of on top of people. Things are clumped together really closely. They could really use a bigger free weights and stretching area. So if you want to do some abs some stretch out there's not really enough space to do it around people. You have to wait and find a weird little corner to do it in. They don't have a separate area for woman to work out in. The sales rep did well but I don't recall them telling me that I got two free personal fitness sessions with a trainer. Because when I went to go renew my year membership they said oh, you haven't used your two free times with a personal trainer and I said what are you talking about? I know it now.

    YMCA - State College
New fitness equipment with plenty of options.
Although I don't use the pool, it looks like they have
a lot of open hours that don't include kids.
There's always someone around if you help with the equipment.
Of course there are busy times and slow times like any fitness place.
The pricing is the best for families.
I've been a member for close to 15 years.

    The North Club
This is a good gym for the price. There is no contract commitment and the group fitness classes (except yoga) are good. I like being able to put my membership on hold for $10 a month during times of the year when I get my excercise outside on my bike rather than in the gym. On the downside, you sort of get what you pay for. The locker rooms aren't great and often aren't as clean as I might like. Equipment repair time can be long. Overall though, I stick with them for the classes and the flexible and inexpensive price.

    Fit For Play
I like this fitness center and would recommend them. They are attached to a physical therapy center. The people there are able to work with older people and people that have had surgery. The equipment is safe and nice. There hours are not as extensive as some gyms.

    YMCA - State College
It's nice, they have an indoor pool and a lot of basketball courts and a full gym. They seem pretty nice. They seem pretty nice, there are workers at the front desk but you don't see a bunch of workers in the rest of the place, they aren't really around much.
