  • It went very well. Steve did a great job on all of my floors. He was very precise with his estimate. His work was very meticulously done. He used only the best products as he had recommended to me. Steve did the job alone which took longer than expected, however, that was due to him planning, preparing and working around my ability to utilize one of the bathrooms during his installations. Steve came in a little higher in his quote, however, it was worth the extra to get a the precise detail that he puts into his work. He did a beautiful job on the toe kick and bathroom trim as he appears to also have great carpentry skills. I would definitely recommend and use Steve in the future for his work.

  • Before we signed up for the deal, I
    asked Galen to come over and review the scope of work since the bathroom was
    over 40 sq. ft. We also wanted some extra things done like installation of a
    new ventilation fan and we wanted to have the three existing doors replaced. I
    asked Galen for an estimate of the additional charge for this work. He said he wouldn't
    charge for it. I also asked after the job was complete and Galen said again
    that there was no additional charge. We told him we appreciated that.
    The last day of the remodel (10/17)
    it was midnight when the job was finished and I told Galen that I would have to
    check out the work the following day and let him know if there was any issues
    since it was so late that night. He explained he would be on vacation soon so I
    said we could discuss them when he returned. Some of the issues are that the
    vanity and light fixture are not centered with the medicine cabinet, the drywall
    opening around the window isn?t finished neatly, the grout at the base of the
    tub is cracked and there are a few other issues. My wife noticed a crack on the
    rim of the acrylic tub. I called American Standard to see what their
    suggestions were with regards to fixing the crack. The customer service person
    asked if mortar was installed beneath the tub. If mortar wasn't installed
    beneath the tub, as stated in their installation instructions, then the
    warranty is void. I told him I thought it was but I couldn't tell from looking
    through the access panel. I used my phone to take a video and the video showed
    that there was no mortar beneath the tub. I checked with Home Depot, other
    installers and some people I know who have done home improvements and they all
    agreed that mortar is definitely to be installed beneath any acrylic tub or
    shower basin.
    I called Galen during the second
    week of November to discuss this and the other issues I had with the
    renovation. Galen and Justin came over and we discussed the issues. Galen said
    he would fix the crack. I told him he should reinstall a new tub since this one
    was cracked and the tub should have been installed per the manufacturer?s
    instructions. Galen said he felt the crack wasn?t due to the mortar not being
    installed. He said it would take 2 or 3 days to reinstall the tub, never
    mentioning that I would have to pay for them to reinstall a new tub. I
    mentioned that I was off between Christmas and New Years and that would be the
    best time so I wouldn?t have to take additional vacation for the reinstallation.
    I hadn?t heard from him so I called
    on 12/26 to see when he was coming to complete the job. On 12/28 Galen left a
    message that he was behind schedule and he would have to put it off until February.
    During that time I called to ask for a definite time he would be here so I could
    schedule my vacation time. I also asked for a repayment of the fixture
    allowance since I bought everything except the toilet which was $200. I waited
    a week but didn?t receive a call so I called again and I was getting very
    frustrated. I also called once to ask him to come and check the toilet he
    installed because it seemed like it was leaking. He still did not return my
    calls. I tried to resolve the issues with calls and texts to avoid documenting
    this on Angie?s list.
    I left a message on Angie?s list
    asking for the reimbursement and for the date when he would come over to
    reinstall the tub. Galen responded explaining that the allowance was for
    material for the remodel, not just for the fixtures and he explained he had
    receipts for $926.26 of items he bought not counting things he used from his
    truck. He also said that he ?never put mortar under a tub before and never had
    any issues before and since I follow the 2009 uniform plumbing code?. He also
    said he was sorry I dropped the shower door on the tub and chipped it. We never
    removed the doors or dropped it. Why would we have removed the door?  He tried to call to find a way to fix the
    crack, but I told him I wanted a new tub and for it to be installed per the
    manufacturer?s instructions so that I would have a warranty in case something
    happens in the future. In his response, he offered to reinstall a new tub for
    $800 + materials and it would take two or three days to complete. He stated
    that was about half the normal charge.
    I answered his message by
    apologizing for the request for reimbursement. I reread the description of the
    job and it did state for material not for fixtures. I said that he never
    mentioned that I would have to pay for anything during the time he was here reviewing
    the issues. His comment about dropping the door also made me wonder if his crew
    did that but didn?t mention it to avoid replacing the tub. I checked the 2015
    uniform plumbing code and it states "bathtubs and whirlpool bathtubs shall
    be installed in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions".
    Regardless of the fact that he never installed tubs with mortar, that does not
    exclude him from having to install per code since his listing on Angie?s list
    states he is licensed. If the tub was installed correctly, I would have dealt
    with American Standard for this issue.
    I paid to have the bathroom
    remodeled and all the fixtures should have been installed per manufacturer?s
    instruction so that the fixtures are covered by the manufacturer?s warranty. I
    shouldn't have to pay to have the tub reinstalled since it wasn't installed to
    code and manufacturer?s instructions initially.

From the initial phone call to their office (their receptionist/office manager is wonderful), to talking and communicating with Randy (one of the owners) to talking and communicating with Pat (a wonderful craftsman) I have absolutely no complaints. NONE at all. My experience with Handyman Matters was probably the best experience I've ever had with home improvement professionals (and I've had several in my day).  If you want the job done right at a fair price and don't want to have to worry about things not getting done on time or not getting done RIGHT, use this company. They are absolutely wonderful. Will use again without a doubt.

  • Mike completed a kitchen remodel which included the following:  Drywall repair following removal of a closet; relocate/add can lights in kitchen ceiling, install undercabinet lighting, install tile floor in kitchen, hall and powder room, install kitchen cabinets and trim, install new powder vanity, remove bifold closet door and install a 2 panel door, and vented microwave to outside. 
    I cannot speak highly enough of the work Mike did for me.  His prices are fair and the only change from his estimate to the final invoice for this job was due to some additional labor needed for tile installation. He is prompt, polite, and professional. Always arrived on time and stayed as long as needed to complete the job.  The tile installer, Paul, and the electrician, Jeff, were both top notch and very responsive. 
    I would not hesitate for instant to hire Mike again.  My kitchen is beautiful and I?ve received numerous compliments on it for which I have to thank Mike.

  • If you are looking for a fantastic remodeling contractor, look no further.  Jeff is one in a million.  We found him to be professional, a hard worker, honest and best of all he was highly knowledgeable in regard to his craft.  It was very refreshing to see someone with his excellent work ethics these days.  Each day, after he finished working, he would clean the work area mess was ever left.  He loves his work and believe me when I say that it shows in the end result.  It was a pleasure to do business with Jeff.  We were more than satisfied with his work.  We will definitely call on him again without hesitation.  Thanks, Jeff!

  • Everything was very good from the initial estimate and their choice of tile. They have a large showroom with 1000's of tiles to choose but since i have no design sense at all I told them generally what i wanted and they selected a very nice neutral tile and grout. The installation occurred around 3 weeks after I signed the contract and provided the 50% deposit. The work was scheduled to take 3 days but they completed it in 2 days. The room was very clean when they were finished.

  • Over the years, I have dealt with people from all walks of life when it
    comes to home improvement projects. After working with the crew from The
    Handy Craftsman Home Service, I have a new optimism for the industry. I
    had 2 bathrooms gutted and remodeled.  Not only did they do quality
    work, but they also engaged in helping us with creativity and design. 
    Having never remodeled a room completely, we found all the choices out
    there to be overwhelming, but they made us feel confident with our
    decisions.  The crew was hard working, good humored, friendly and
    respectful. They were prompt and I was always kept informed on the
    progress. If delays occurred (out of their control), a back up plan was
    put into place. The project manager went above and beyond in assisting
    with the bathroom design, as well as providing numerous tips
    regarding improvement projects in other areas of the house.  They also
    came in with the best price and always let me know if my choice was out
    over-budget so at the end of the project, nothing on the bill was a
    surprise. They discussed plan design changes with me before starting
    work and encouraged communication throughout the entirety of the
    project.  I will recommend this company to anyone who is looking for
    affordable and quality workmanship.  I am planning on re-doing the
    kitchen in the next 2-5 years and I will call again!
