    Maust Landscaping & Lawn Care
I could not get Mr. Maust to commit to a service date. He gave me reasons why he couldn't perform the service (one of his workmen broke the aerator, and he had to wait for the part; the part couldn't be delivered due to rain from recent hurricanes; after the part arrived and was installed, he would contact me to schedule, etc.). Seriously? He's in the lawn business and he has a single machine and no ready source for spare parts? His aeration business comes to a complete halt? He put me off long enough that I could not get a refund from Angie's list, and now I have to go through the rig-ama-roll with Angie's list to work out some alternative.

    Maust Landscaping & Lawn Care
Everything went very well through the bidding process and installation. We paid for the work at the mid-point and at the finish four days later. At that point we would have given a straight A score. Some of the plants, approximately seven did not survive. It took several reminders to have the firm owner return to examine them, and when he did he apologized and replace three of them right away. He was kind enough to provide a free lawn cut since he took a while to get back to us and we happily accepted it. The other four dying plants he cut back and asked if he could see if they came back in the Spring (of 2017) and replace them if they did not survive. Repeated promises via txt messages over six weeks where he promised to return and inspect the dead plants never materialized. We thought this would be an opportunity to schedule additional work. We finally gave up. It is a shame since we had hoped to maintain in ongoing relationship and stay with this firm going forward based upon the initial installation. The four dead plants and lack of response made us realize that there is no such interest or any intention of standing behind the initial work. Truly a disappointment given the many other fine qualities demonstrated.

    STEEL CITY LANDSCAPE, INC.
First and foremost, I must say that Mark was extremely engaged and professional throughout the entire process. His responsiveness was exceptional, starting from our contacting the company for an estimate and receiving a quick scheduling, through providing status updates while the job was ongoing, and his on site presence throughout the project to check in, provide feedback to his crew, and ensure perfection. Whenever we sent him an email with questions, he not only responded immediately (like within an hour of sending in most cases), but most times did so via a phone call to ensure clarity on his responses, and answer any follow up questions we may have had. We never encountered delayed responses, or unresponsiveness of any kind, from start to finish. To be open... being that this was our first time hiring professional landscaping, we did receive a number of different estimates to compare both pricing and proposed solutions. While there were some cheaper options (hence my only "B" above for pricing), I would highly recommend to anyone reading this, that you get what you pay for. We were able to see other jobs completed by Steel City prior to going with them, and knew we would receive the highest quality, worthy of a little extra cost. Having seen completed work by some of the other cheaper estimates we received, we can't say the same for the quality that they provided their customers. As far as proposed solutions, we were also impressed with the proposals Mark offered vs. other estimates. His expertise in evaluating our yard, knowledge of unique options, and his overall design vision were better than most. Almost all of the other companies proposed the same types of solutions, proposing the same basic and bland shrubs and flowers. I told my wife that the other solutions, while I'm sure would look nice, reminded me of what you'd see outside an office building or restaurant. Cookie cutter greens and yellows, minimal colors, nothing unique that stands out. Mark proposed some different options, even stating at times "I'm sure you won't see this anywhere in your neighborhood". He also made his proposals based on things like sun exposure, water exposure, spacing, deer/rabbits, etc. His proposed solution was very well thought out, unique and included lots of different colors too. While we focused on updating the main beds that were existing, he also included cleaning up, re-edging, and even creating a few new beds around some prominent trees as part of his overall design solution. Being a corner house at the beginning of our neighborhood, our front two beds are on display for all to see, and his solution including some cleaned up and new beds, now makes our house pop. We've since noticed cars driving by slowly to see the finished product, and neighbors have stopped by to ask us what some of the trees/flowers are, stating they've never seen them before. To me, that's what we desired and expected, and was worth the little bit of extra cost compared to other companies. Mark was also the only one that proposed a different concept for the French drain, in which he proposed an "open French drain" concept around the patio area... where instead of just covering it with dirt, instead top it off with layer of river rock up against our re-built retaining wall (which looks fabulous!). Also, he was one of the few that realized the issue was not just the water coming down from our neighbors yard... but also the raised beds around the patio were creating a "bowl", and leaving the water no where to drain to. Also, he noticed that our yard was not graded properly and was sloping towards the patio, instead of away from it. Again, his ability to assess the whole problem, and propose the necessary solutions, stood out against the rest. His crew was polite, clean and professional. It was easy to communicate with them as the job was ongoing, they asked our opinions when needed, and were open to feedback and making changes in areas we requested changes. They were always on time, worked efficiently, and we never got the sense they were cutting corners or slacking off. Lastly, to be open again, along the process and even after his crew finalized the job, there were some areas that needed to be fixed and/or re-addressed. We received some very heavy storms during and right after the process, which put the drainage solutions to the test on the spot. There were some areas which needed to be fixed/re-addressed (some minor additional re-grading, some areas with light mulch that washed away, etc.), and again Mark showed his exceptional professionalism in agreeing to make the necessary fixes, ensuring perfection on the job. The good news was, after those heavy storms, we had NO pooling of water on our Patio, and NO layers of mud to scrape off!!! The French drain solution worked to perfection! We now have new outdoor sectional furniture, lounge chairs, sun screens, planters full of flowers, surrounded by beautiful and colorful landscaping... the whole area is now peaceful, tranquil, and we can finally utilize the patio to relax or entertain guests!! As stated above, the front beds now look clean and unique, gaining the attention of all that drive by it. I would highly recommend you to Mark and Steel City for your landscaping needs, and already told Mark should we have any further needs in the future, we will look no further than him.

    Bosetti Lawn Care
I called Bosetti Lawn Care with no prior connection or recommendation and feel like I struck gold. I cannot rate Brad and his team highly enough. Start to finish, this was one of the most professional and well-managed projects I have seen. Brad came out the same day I called him to provide an estimate for our project (yard clearing and a gravel parking area on a relatively steep slope). Brad is the only vendor to offer multiple solution ideas with associated pros and cons.  He gave an estimate on the spot and itemized all of the work.  Scheduling the work was a breeze and Brad responded in less than 24 hours to follow up emails and was quick to provide additional details and information. On the day work was to begin, Brad showed up early with his crew, confirmed details and got right to work. The attention to detail and quality of the work was amazing. Brad was meticulous in managing the excavating work and leveling required to ensure the parking area was safe and well-designed. I asked Brad if he could clear additional area in our yard and not only did he accommodate this request, he had his crew go above and beyond (clearing roots and thick vegetation). It quickly became clear, that Reliable services at Reasonable prices was not a thoughtless phrase on the business card or website, but a very real promise that Brad ensures is met by Bosetti Lawn Care. Bosetti Lawn Care will be the first call I make for any future landscape work. 5 stars all around.

Mark met with us and gave us a date when he would be able to do the work.  He and his crew were professional, considerate and on time each day.  We had an old timber retaining wall and steps removed.  This was in 2 sections with the steps in the middle.  They had a dumpster delivered and hauled everything away.  At each step he consulted with us and let me know what was happening each day.  They finished off the landscaping that was disturbed with construction. If I had questions, Mark responded through email each time.  This was such a good experience. I have a beautiful stone wall and steps with lighting.

    Comprehensive Labor Solutions LLC
Started with the $99 yard work deal. This was the first time I had scheduled this kind of work after moving into this place. Was not sure how much time would be needed to complete the job. Scheduling process was easy. The scope of the work was described and mentioned what was needed for the job. I had to bring some basic tool/contractor bags but the company was to provide the wheelbarrow. Two guys showed up on time but didn't have the wheelbarrow which was essential for this kind of work. They also had very little basic tools. At the end of the day little work was completed and was told that another x number of hours would be required. I talked to the owner and explained the situation and he was understanding and gave me a discount on the labor charges.  We scheduled them to come back for next day with an understanding that they will come with the proper tools. Unfortunately they didn't have the right tools or the right size to for this type of job and things were very slow. Only one of the two guys seemed efficient.  At the end of the day some work was done but still a whole lot was left.  We rescheduled them to back the week after that to complete the job, with one guy replaced on my request. Again they did not have the right size wheelbarrow which made it difficult for them and took much longer. The owner explained that their landscaping work is relatively new and they have done more jobs in moving/other labor type jobs. I was told this towards the end of the job and could have bought a wheel barrow myself if all tools were my responsibility of if they didn't have the right tools. They gave me discount on the labor charges and I felt in the end it was reasonable for the delay or slow work. Though they were not expensive it was not a hassle free experience.
It is imperative that you get a clear time frame or estimate at the beginning, clear understanding of what tools company is to provide and what you have to have available for completion of the job in a reasonable time.

    Grago Lawn Care
Patrick is reliable, professional and honest
His lawn service is fast and detail oriented. Our yard looks great.
In fact, Patrick once saved our dog's life! Our dog, while chasing a squirrel, stuck his head under our fence and, in his efforts to get the squirrel, twisted the collar tight around his neck. He was choking himself. He was about to pass out from lack of oxygen when Patrick, with all his effort, was able to push the twisted collar off the fence post, releasing our dog. Needless to say, Patrick knows how to handle dogs, too.

    Friendly Islander Landscaping&Outdoor Construction
The landscaping looks great.  They were friendly and professional.  Sione suggested growing grass on hill side beds instead of mulching.  In the long run this would save us money instead of having to mulch the hill every spring.  In addition, over time the mulch just slides down the hill leaving empty spots in beds.  Also, a few days before they were scheduled to work, a tree was struck by lighting and fell in our backyard. They were able to remove the tree in addition to the scheduled work.  They couldn't finish all the work on the scheduled day due to lighting storms but they came back on July 4th to finish mulching and edging the front yard.

    TUMA LAWN SVC & LANDSCAPING
They did a good job. We have a lot of fencing in our yard around our garden area and they did a good job of trimming. They did a really nice job of keeping that all tidy. They set their blades pretty low and they actually sheared off the top of a drain cleanout that we had. They were always prompt and the people in the office were nice. The owner is very personable. He went out of his way to identify a plant in my yard that I couldn't figure out what it was. He has been really helpful to us in both of the projects we've done with them.
