Basement Waterproofing reviews in Sewickley

Keystone Waterproofing Inc ( Masonry Restoration)
I did not hire them because the price was very high and I didn't value the add on features (service plan, app monitoring of sump pump). Overall, I couldn't be happier with their customer service though. The project managers are some of the nicest people and while they give you an offer on the spot, they aren't overly pushy. The clarity of what they recommend and what they offer is impeccable. The turnaround time from contact to initial quote was amazing on two occasions. I guess I am not their target customer (i.e., if my pump failed, I would buy a new one for a few hundred $s and install it myself). If you are looking for a guaranteed warranty and turn key service from folks who clearly know what they are doing, these guys are likely one of the best contractors to hire.

This project couldn't have gone better. The responsiveness was great. The price was great. The turnaround time on a project that was somewhat of an emergency couldn't have been better. From initial contact, through quote, and to start of the work, it took less than 48 hours. The crew was on time, clean, very friendly and respectful, and the work looks great. Couldn't recommend these guys more and I will definitely be using them for all foundation / waterproofing work going forward.

Excellent. over all. Had some minor concerns upon completion that were addressed courteously and promptly. Workers arrived timely and worked continuously until their quitting time. Cleaned up my basement and garage each day before leaving. Couldn't ask for a better team.

    AquaGuard Systems Inc
Never have an indoor basement waterproof system installed when the furnace is running! I compared several companies before choosing AquaGuard; they convinced me this was a routine job and would have minimal dust and ensured my complete satisfaction. The sales rep was prompt and responsive. I questioned him extensively on dust as I have been driven from my home, into a hotel, by a prior sub-contractor. Unfortunately AquaGuard did the same thing! They installed the waterproof system, did not have a 'dustless' system and had no clean-up policies. When the furnace was turned back on, all the concrete/silica dust spewed throughout my home polluting the air quality so my house failed an air quality test (which I'm happy to share along with pictures). I again had to evacuate my home until the air could be remediated. The air quality remediation cost was MORE than the waterproof installation. Of course, AquaGuard claimed no responsibility and per the contract it would have cost me more to fight them in court to recover my costs to remediate the air quality. I would have been less frustrated and disappointed had I not asked extensive questions on the amount of dust this work would generate and told all would be well... I'm asthmatic and had issues with prior work done at the house with silica dust so this was not a minor issue. I will never recommend this company.

    G & J Waterproofing
G & J waterproofing came to inspect a water leak that I was having in my basement. Harry was prompt and very professional. He talked me thru the issues and answered all of my questions. He was able to put a plan in place and even alerted me to to a couple different problems that could arise in the future. You never know what your getting into until you start pulling back the wall and see whats really going on behind it. They fixed the problem when they said they would and my basement has been dry ever since.

I first spoke to them at the Pittsburgh Home and Garden Show. There was no pressure to sign a call back sheet as many other vendors but I truly liked the ladies as we talked and thought they were honest people. I was contacted within days of the last day of the show. Usually, by this point, I have a chance to think about things and back down from all of the contractors I spoke to at the show. But again, their call person, Katie, who is quite personable and professional, gave me the confidence to go ahead and set up an appointment. I was not available until March 22 when Harry came to look at my 100 year-old basement and give me an estimate. Now again, I NEVER sign a contractor on the spot, until this moment. Without references or other estimates, I signed. He was knowledgeable and confident in what they could do, the price seemed reasonable, and he was overall just a really nice guy. Knowing how much stuff I had accumulated in my basement over the years, he agreed to help me clean everything up in order for the work to begin 4 days before Easter. He said the job would take 2-3 days and, true to his word, they were done right on schedule. All the debris was cleaned up, not only from their work but also all of my own garbage, and taken away. The contractors were all very professional, never complained once about the condition of my basement and were willing to answer any questions I had. Katie and Harry both were in constant contact to keep me up-to-date as to what was happening each day. We have had several days of rain here in Pittsburgh and prior to their work, I would have had 2-4 inches of water in the basement. IT IS BONE DRY!!! I couldn't be happier with the job, the crew (wish I remember their names because they were great at what they did and so courteous and professional), Harry and Katie. The job is complete and I have a warranty that I know they will stand by. I am confident that if I ever had any questions, I will be able to contact them and they will be glad to assist. Finally, I can honestly say that I had a wonderful experience with hired contractors who do QUALITY work and go above and beyond to ensure CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!!!

Mike was on time and did everything he said he would do.  We are happy with the service provided and are confident that Mike is a competent service provider.
We are reviewing his proposal and are obtaining a separate estimate for the work to ensure the cost is in the right ballpark.  I will provide a separate review of any work that is done when we get to that.

Dun Rite Construction and Paving LLC
After trying to deal with a different company who strung us along for over a year about paving the driveway, I finally started calling new numbers. Even though it was already late in the season, Gary responded immediately and came out that night for an initial assessment. He was very forthcoming and knowledgable about several issues and willing to discuss things from every angle and option. This is how we got to also discussing a water intrusion issue in our basement and internal vs external french drains for solving the problem, and he was one of the few contractors who heard us out about prefering external.

When we agreed to the proposals he was able to fit us in and even came earlier than expected when a slot opened up. He and his team were also willing to work together with the contractors deconstructing the basement from the water intrusion when the days coincided. This is how we found out about the foundation weakness when the drywall came down, and Gary's team was able to assess, discuss with us, and begin fixing the issue the same day and then still continue with the rest of the work. They ended up grouting our foundation from the outside, which from the research I did upon the recomendation for this, matched that it is the best technique for our type of wall and also a relatively new one that is more effective than older ones, so he definitely is up to date and knows what he is talking about! Everything held up great during the last rain after we had the work done; we didn't see one drip of water come through.

For the driveway, rather than digging the whole thing up to fix the deep holes that were in it or just patching and coating, he was able to use what we already had as a base to build up from, and made everything nice and thick and solid. We also asked to have the slope/grade of it fixed to be less steep at the beginning and they did a great job of making it much smoother and made sure the surrounding land matched and still looked normal, even blending some asphalt to make a smooth transition down to the sidewalk again.

This company is great at understanding the issue/goal and the best way to address things, even if you don't know to ask for it. They were able to suggest or just fix things such as an extra downspout to help further with handling water, and they also relandscaped the slope of the yard and removed a tree for no extra charge while everything was dug up for installing the drain. They do cost more, but it is worth it for being able to trust the reliability and the work, and as far as I can tell, a lot of the difference is simply in product cost because they don't skimp where other companies might.

    Highly recommended! Thank you Gary!

    MARIANI & RICHARDS INC
Very accommodating. Contacted me promptly after my initial call to set up a time to visit. Came out on a Saturday and assessed the area we were having issues with. Was told they would send an estimate either the next day or early the beginning of the work week. That was almost 2 weeks ago. No estimate still. Not a bad company, guessing the work wasn't worth it for them, which is OK.

Scheduling was easy. Wait time was about 1 week or so. A distinguished looking gentleman came on time. Inspected the basement and the walls as the exterior of the property. Made recommendations to deal with the current issues. What was there did not need any work from them. I was highly impressed with his honesty.  It was a free estimate so did not have to pay anything. I would recommend this company for any water proofing type of work.
