    BPD Construction
I needed a carpenter and got Master Carpenter! Brian came to see exactly what I was asking for and he gave great suggestions. He came and measured, gave me a timeframe and price. He started a week later! He is very meticulous, started at 8am and was here until 4, as promised. So very neat (perfect, since I just had rugs installed 3 weeks before) This work was time consuming and really needed to be a carpenter FIRST AND FORMOST and he was! His quote was his price, nothing hidden nothing added on! I am starting to save so he can remodel my basement! He was exactly what we needed after having a nightmare with other service providers. All went smooth and am soo excited how nice my house looks now! Excellent job and thanks so much Brian

    Born Artisan LLC
OUTSTANDING! For starters he was punctual which is always a great thing especially if you have a busy schedule. He also works at an efficient pace and quietly I might add. It's like he wasn't even there. He went and found a great price to replace the lock and gave me the receipt for the purchase. Lastly; when the job was finished there was no mess. And the lock was great. I have no complaints only great things to say about Born Artisan

    Freshlook Painting llc
Initially we were happy with Freshlook's communication and responsiveness. The job was done shortly after we first made contact and we were happy with the results. Now, having moved into the house and having some time to see the job in different lighting we aren't as pleased. It appears there was little to no prepwork done in regards to sanding any rough edges or patches on the walls. There are several areas where the brushstrokes are uneven and the previous paint color is peeking through. The edges where the walls meet the ceiling are not as clean as I had expected. Is the job satisfactory? Yes. I'm happy the old paint color is gone. But is it what I had hoped for from a professional? Not really.
Also of note: I contacted Freshlook for additional estimates on two separate occasions (after the initial job was completed) with promises of a quick response. It's been a couple months now and I never received the estimates I requested.

    T J Kyle Construction LLC.
I was very satisfied with all the work performed. All of the workers were punctual, had some excellent suggestions for the bannister and cleaned up every day before they left. They were all very friendly and polite. I live alone and sometimes are nervous having workers in my home but I felt very comfortable while they were here. I would recommend the company to everyone.

    MK Remodeling Inc
When I moved into my house I knew I had a job on my hands. They place hand't been updated since the 1970s. I contacted a number of contractors in my area and after receiving a number of estimates went with MK. The reasoning for my decision to hire MK was a combination of the inclusiveness of their quote, his willingness to work with us on a difficult project, and a shared connection within the business (which was unknown to me at the time).
Upon hiring around early June we got down to the details of the dormer. My house is a Cape Cod which included the laundry in the kitchen. Since we needed to do an entire update of the electrics anyways we went with a dormer of approx. 40 feet from the end of the house to the middle. They were able to provide drawing and the permitting process was a breeze due to building on existing foundation. Once the framing was completed and roofing placed on the back of the house we decided to have the whole roof done. MK was able to get me a # for that extremely quickly and the job was completed within a week of ask.
Being an older house there were a number of hurdles encountered...mainly the joists being somewhat sloped. This made the tiling in the upstairs bathroom somewhat difficult since there was approx. 1/2" difference between the ceiling on one side of the tub vs the other. MK was able to come up with an elegant solution that adds a bit more to the tiling and allows for a nice symmetric look and excellent protection.  In addition, due to removing part of a room to allow for the dormer we negotiated in drywall and rough finishing for the upstairs room while in mid-job.
For the downstairs the plan was to demo the bathroom and kitchen. The downstairs bathroom was to be full tiled to 4'. Once again the intricacies of the house reared their head to show and unevenness in the ceiling. However, it much less significant downstairs and easy dealt with. As a note, both bathrooms look incredible. The quality is to notch and the finishing is exactly what I was hoping for. For the kitchen what we had originally budgeted for and what we ended up with were somewhat divergent...but that is not to be unexpected with a job of this size. Granted what we had originally drawn up for the kitchen worked, yet with some reworking from MK we came up with a better more efficient lay out that maximized the space better. Appointments with their kitchen designer were easy and accommodating. Once cabinets were decided upon we once again decided to go a different route and decided on granite counter top instead of the composite we originally budgeted for. Once again appointments were easy and the granite people were excellent and extremely helpful. Finally, I had insisted upon window cut into the wall between the kitchen and living room. Despite being a load bearing wall this was easy accomplished and the window/bar counter top is perfectly level and trimmed despite the slight lean with the joists.
Now one thing I feel I must mention is that my electrics were a mess. Complete disaster. I was aware of this and tried to ensure MK was as well. However, until you really get into the walls you can never really tell how bad. MK will not tell me how bad, but suffice to say everything is up to code and is as it should be. I do not know the true cost of the job. All I paid was what was quoted to me and not a dime more for that specific part of the contract.
Now I would be remiss to not mention payments, timings, meetings, correspondences etc. Payments were laid out very easy in a scheduled manner to coincide with major completion of work. A small retainer to begin with and then several large checks to cover the bulk of the work...approx. 10 to 15% depending on what was completed. Very easy to make sense of and all laid out to you on the contract. I have never had an issue with contacting MK...they are prompt with email replies and available for calls and replied to texts on the weekends to questions. Meetings were easy to set up and they were always prompt and on time. Very courteous and professional, but a good sense of humor and jovialness in their mood. They take pride in what they do and looking at what I have now vs. what I started with and what some of my friends/family have received in terms of this type of work MK are top notch. Note MK are a family business and that's why I went with them. They are smaller so might not have some of the fancy abilities of other contractors or large companies ,yet they were extremely accommodating with all the changes, updates, and add ons that I requested. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone in the area looking for small or large jobs to be completed.

    McCarthy Brothers Carpentry Inc
The McCarthy brothers are great! They were very friendly and professional. They gave us an estimate pretty quickly (within a few days) and were willing to communicate through both email and phone. The job took about two full days as well as two shorter return visits to complete additional rounds of spackle/sanding. They kept the worksite clear during the job, which was great because I didn't feel like I was coming home to a workshop everyday. I mentioned above that we have plaster walls - this was one thing they'd warned me about at the start of the job. The concern was they'd have to do extra patching around the new doorframe after they cut the opening due to plaster's tendency to break apart when you cut into it. BUT - they were so careful that there was no need for extra patching around the new door. I am so happy with their work and would recommend the McCarthy Brothers to everyone!

    D. Sheerin General Contractor
From start to finish Desmond and his crew were great and their work is impeccable. Desmond is very honest and cleancut so it was easy to work with him! He explained the process for the remodel thoroughly so we knew exactly how long we would be without a bathroom. After it was done I realized that it exceeded my expectations! The quality of the tile work alone was impressive! I highly recommend them and would tell you guys that if you were looking for an honest contractor this would be it.

    Kevin Morrissey
Kevin came highly recommended to me from a family member. He came over to take a look at the task at hand and then his imagination took over. He blew us away with the ideas he had, you could tell he had some experieince. I would love to see what he could do with an entire house to work with. After he hung the tv, made the "shelf", painted everything and cleaned up we sat for a few minuets just so I could ask where he learned his trade. Ive heard of Williamson Trade School before and never really gave it much thought, Kevin really made us realize that Williamson must be a great school that produces excellent tradesmen.

    Stefanik Home Improvements
The experience with Jack of Stefanik Home Improvements was fantastic. He was so friendly and professional, and he explained everything he was going to do very clearly before he started the job. I live in a house that was originally build around 1900, with several small additions since then. It is a bit of a fixer upper, and Jack was able to tackle any irregularities or unique problems that came along. Because the main part of my house is so old, and the additions have been built at different periods over the last century, there were some very unique construction situations that Jack was easily able to work around, and come up with creative solutions for that met current construction codes. The new bedroom looks great, and it has greatly improved the value of my home. I will be needing a lot of work done to my home over the coming years, and I will call him first, every time.

Dave works quietly and carefully. When he left the place was immaculate. He custom made the windows. They are beautiful. They fit perfectly. This has been a very hard winter. After 70+ inches of snow the windows have been put to the ultimate test. Not a drop of water entered the wells. I expected each storm and the many rain storms would have allowed water to enter but not a drop! I could not be more pleased with the job. Dave told me the windows were a challenge. He more than met the challenge. He is a gifted craftsman.
