    MK Remodeling Inc
MK Remodeling was very responsive in answering our questions and inquiries throughout the process. Very professional, and helpful in offering advice, and options. We ultimately decided to hold off on any work at this time due to other considerations.

    FANTE FLOORING
Great! Fante's offers a wide selection for every taste and budget. They beat all of the other estimates. The brothers were helpful and took the time with me. The installers were neat, organized and courteous. The finished basement looked brand new.

    Lowe's
When I bought my condo I inherited an old and much abused linoleum floor in the kitchen. I'd been putting off replacing it due to cost, but then I saw that Lowe's was having a sale on Pergo flooring installation, so I decided to give them a look. I spoke with the same sales staff member (Shane) each time and he was very helpful and polite. There was an upcharge on the work because it was such a small job (my kitchen is practically a galley), but I was given a discount on it without having to ask. The gentleman who took the measurements and did the installation was also quite professional and left no mess behind him. I was pleased to discover that he could come on a weekend to do the work so that I didn't have to take time off from my own job. The only problem I encountered was with Lowe's computer system: it kept bringing up an old address of mine rather than my current one, so I had to confirm with everyone who came out to the house where exactly it was I lived. That aside, I'm very pleased with my new floor and with the service I received.

Mike was prompt in coming out to give me an estimate.  I had 3 estimates and they were all within $1,000 of each other but I chose Mike as he seemed a bit more experienced. The project went well and was finished within the time period that was promised. This included gutting the entire room & replacing all fixtures, walls, ceiling, flooring & installing exhaust fan. I then replaced 3 of the doors on the 2nd floor as they were old & worn. Mike and crew were prompt and kept me updated throughout the job by email and phone. I wasn't home much of the time & i felt like I could trust them to be in my home during the construction. I felt the price was both fair & honest and I got what I paid for. Thanks to MK remodeling as I love my new bathroom, especially the new tub.

    George's Complete Kitchen and Bath
He told me that he put tile in and subcontracted for everything. He gave me some measurements and told me how much I needed to buy. I felt more comfortable with him. I got more of a sense of confidence with him. He spoke well. I felt that he would do a good job. He told me that the painter would not paint the door or any trim. He said the plumber would not want to use the items that I bought from Home Depot. I asked to speak to the plumber and let him know I wanted to go to his supplier and select items but the plumber said he would use what I have.

I emailed the contractor with the information and told him I wanted him to do the job but that I wanted him to paint the door and trim for that price. He seemed upset that the plumber agreed to use my materials and discount the price. He said he would not paint the door and trim. I requested that the job begin on the 14th,15th today and tomorrow because I wanted to be home when the work was done because I had a bad experience with a contractor that had a key to my house but didn't do the work. I asked him to come and review the contract and it took a few days for him to respond to my email. When he responded that he let me know that he didn't get to read my last email and he went ahead and scheduled work with another client and he couldn't get to me until the 25th. I haven't heard from him.

    Johnsons Kitchens & Baths LLC
I will start by saying I would definitely hire Jay again and I would wholeheartedly recommend him. His price was comparable to others we got quoted, but I think we got a more personal experience with him. What we liked most was his willingness to work with us and take care of little things, usually without an extra charge. Jay gave us excellent customer service and had a friendly demeanor. We have 2 cats and 1 large dog, and my wife works at home. We kept the pets locked upstairs, but if they were still out at Jay's arrival he actually seemed to relish seeing them, and on days when my wife wasn't home Jay was happy to let the dog out and would let her stay outside with them as they worked (they set up their saws outside). He also made a diligent effort to clean up the work space each day, so we didn't worry much about the pets stepping on nails or such when they went through the area. He was also considerate of my wife's daily needs, having an office in the house. Jay is based in NJ, but he always seemed happy to come to our PA home to check on things or meet with us if needed beyond construction time. When he picked up our cabinets, he had to go to DE to get them, again without complaint.
In addition, due to the issues with the cabinets, the work completion was delayed about 6 extra weeks (nothing to do with Jay). I am sure this must have messed with Jay's schedule for other jobs, but he never complained and he also never 'disappeared'. While he didn't need to be here for periods while we waited for the cabinets, he remained in regular contact and showed up quickly once the pieces were ready or the next step could be completed. Also, due to the delay, the construction was still going on when we left for a 2 week vacation. We had no concerns leaving our keys with Jay to take care of work while we were gone.
Overall we love our new kitchen and are very happy with how it turned out. There is only one issue I would say we had, and its mostly because both my wife and I are perfectionists. There were some areas where things were not done quite as neatly as they could have been. There were some small nicks in the walls that were not patched and areas where the paint was patchy. I had to do a fair bit of touch-up afterwards to cover up small spots that hadnt been painted well or where the paint wasnt thick enough to cover the primer completely. There also were several issues with the molding. At first the floor molding was not cut properly at the corners, and the molding around a door was cut badly. But Jay had no problem re-doing those to make sure it was right (I think the original cuts were done by his assistant, not him). We also noticed after the work was done that the molding around another door must have been cut too short, as there are obviously separate pieces cut to fill out the last few inches near the floor, which dont line up exactly with the rest of the molding. There is also an obvious crack across one of the larger pieces that was just painted over without being filled in. Some sealant was put along one of the backsplashes that in some areas is a little excessive. Recently we noticed that a few of the cabinet handles are put on at slight angles instead of vertically. And we did have to do some minor cleanup of paint splatter on doors and furniture.
Two things to qualify all of this, though. One, in the context of rebuilding an entire kitchen, these are minor cosmetic issues, and to me the important thing is that the main work was done properly, which as far as I can tell it was. The cabinet company actually screwed up with some of the measurements, and Jay did a great job fitting the cabinets as best as possible. The floor (vinyl tiles) was also done very well, including dealing with one part (where the fridge used to be) that had a significant hump. So overall, as I said before, we really like the end product. I guess Im just of the opinion that when youre paying that much money to get something done, every aspect should be done well, and I think some of the cosmetic stuff could have used some improvement. Two, a lot of these issues were found basically when the work was done, and I had already pestered Jay about enough other things during the work that I just didnt feel like I should bother him about some of it, especially if it was stuff I knew I could easily do myself, like paint touch-up or filling in wood cracks. Again, I feel like the issues shouldnt exist given the money we paid, but its possible he would have taken care of it had I complained. So I would say if you care about that stuff, just keep an eye on it as the work is done. For the most part I think youd have no problem with Jay agreeing to redo something if you werent happy with it.
I will reiterate that overall we were very happy with Jay and the work he did. He really will work with you to give you the kitchen you want, and to deal with issues that come up. I have no complaints over the pricing, as I think any extra costs that came up due to unforeseen issues or extra things we requested were reasonable. And as I said before, we really appreciated Jays willingness to do those extra things. If we ever need to renovate another room, Id have no hesitation hiring Johnsons Kitchens and Baths again.

    Mr Sandless Inc
On the morning of September 29 at 9:05 the Mr Sandless truck arrived and pulled into my driveway.
Bruno, Pat, Gee and Terry unpacked the equipment and set to work. These four young men were tireless, professional, hard working, polite and incredibly pleasant. They worked all day finishing around 4. They moved the furniture without making a mark. They placed it where I wanted it and did so with good humor. Over the day they frequently told me how the job was going.
I love the floors. I selected a gloss finish as I love a shiny floor. The floors were dull and old. They are now beautiful, perfect and glisten. They look great and the floors here are 73 years old.
Mr Sandless is blessed to have employees of such professionalism, quality and character. They represent the company beautifully. Ruth was also helpful and informative.
Bravo and well done Mr Sandless.

    Stefanik Home Improvements
The experience with Jack of Stefanik Home Improvements was fantastic. He was so friendly and professional, and he explained everything he was going to do very clearly before he started the job. I live in a house that was originally build around 1900, with several small additions since then. It is a bit of a fixer upper, and Jack was able to tackle any irregularities or unique problems that came along. Because the main part of my house is so old, and the additions have been built at different periods over the last century, there were some very unique construction situations that Jack was easily able to work around, and come up with creative solutions for that met current construction codes. The new bedroom looks great, and it has greatly improved the value of my home. I will be needing a lot of work done to my home over the coming years, and I will call him first, every time.

Ramano & Son Tile Installation Inc
Masimo was great, he gave us a very competitive estimate on work he was to provide and when during the project he reported floor was in better condition than he first estimated and he did not need to remove entire floor he lowered his price to reflect these changes. He even noted that the tile I purchased prior did not completely matched and went with me to buy new tile and installed it that day. I was very satisfied with his skill and profesionalism.

    Carpet Fair Inc
They did the job and did a nice job but a couple things happened that I wasn't happy about. They got here on time and did the job. I had hired them to do two jobs and when the technicians showed up they said they didn't know about the second job and didn't do it. I ended up getting billed for the higher amount. The job was $200 more than the estimate. I don't blame the guys that did the job because the price is on the salesman.
