  • After contacting Tree Monkeys at the beginning of August, the owner arrived right away to give me a quote. The quote was more than reasonable. I own the property, however, my daughter is renting from me and want's the trees cut down. We both agreed and I called the next week to give them the green light to get the work done. They then explained to me that they couldn't come down with out having another job in the area because they would lose money. ???.
3 weeks went by and no calls , and no show. I called them to inquire of their status. Again they promised to come as soon as other work became available in my area. Granted,,, I'm only 18miles away! 2 more weeks go by,, now calls , no show. My daughter finally calls ,, and meets with them to sign a proposal.
1 more month goes by,,, no calls, no show. I then called on 10/1/13 to notify them their services are no longer needed as they are not reliable and we will be seeking another Tree Company. The owner's wife informed me that because my daughter had signed a and quot;contractand quot; that we would and quot;Possiblyand quot; have to pay them either way. I informed her that this is a proposal only, not a contract and they will not see any payments from us for no work performed.
This company has absolutly no integrity. They made promisis that never developed and tried to scam us when we decided to cancel.
    BEWARE!!!

A proposal is exactly what it says a proposal of doing the work for a certain amount. A proposal is an offer put forward to a client for consideration or acceptance. The proposal descibes the types of goods or services offered y the seller and the estimated period of delivery and the budget. A proposal is not legally biding to both parties wherea, under the law of contracts, a contract is legally binding to all the parties involved. A proposal mainly entails what you pitch to the client: your ideas concerning the goods or services you are offering. The proposal is an offer, it is the first step toward the making of a contract. No contractexists if the client response portrays his approval of your ideas but not his commitment to the project. (as per our attorney). As stated before, the job was not started in a resonable amount of time, we never had a date for this job to be started. You have to leave a message because no one ever answers the phone, and the times they call you back,,, the answer is always the same,,, and quot;oh we have a job coming up in your area in 2 weeksand quot;. Bottom line is a company with integrety will first apologizes to its potential client for incoveniences, and give you a firm date. Also a company with integrety will not try to collect monies for a job not started and no material was purchased. All other companies i had to deal with will bring the paper work to be signed, in your case if thats all that was standing between the job being started, why could you not bring it with you? why do we have to drive 20 miles just to get a proposal signed? Acceptance of proposal again means that we are ok with the amount offered for the goods,,, there is not dates, no disclosures of any kind. On a contract, it will state dates of job completion and also any fees due in case of breach of contract. I would suggest drawing up a real contract to use. And we did call you many times to find when you would be able to start the job and as i said everytime is in 2 weeks. As we stated to you on the phone, we are cancelling this request as you can not fullfill the requirements in getting the job done in a reasonable amont of time. And this matter is now closed.
    UPDATE AGAIN
After all this and specifically being told that we have cancelled the reques, we do have voice mails saved, they showed up yesterday and were starting to cut branches,,, no phone call,no knock on the door! Be very aware if you decide to hire this company....

  • Was hired in October. Said he would do the job in early November. Did not come back until mid January to start. Would work for a few hours then disappear for several days. Took almost a month to remove one tree. Made a complete mess of my backyard and did nothing to make that right. Obviously low balled the estimate to get the job then became sloppy and resentful when he realized he was not making money. Extremly disappointed with the work. Left a stump that is at least 6 feet tall. Would not recommend.
