  • I had another provider prior to Tru Green.  Ironically, I had Tru Green for several years and I wasn't satisfied with the shrubbery service so I switched to the other provider and I was more satisfied, and they merged and became Tru Green again.  So far, I'm satisfied with the service.  I have no complaints about the service.  It was fine.  If I had one complaint, it was they're supposed to call, give me at least a day's notice before the treatments and they had been doing that, but they didn't do it for the shrubbery, which was the last treatment.  To me, that's important because I need to schedule ... you know, I do my own cutting and trimming and have grandchildren over.  I want to be sure that I know when the service is gonna ... you know, when the stuff's gonna be applied.  I would still give them an overall A; that was the first time they did not call in the last year or so.  On price, I really don't have any hard comparisons there; I'm sure I could find somebody cheaper.  I could get somebody that pulls up in a station wagon.  On quality, I would say B.  We've got some serious problems with the shrubbery that existed before I had them, and apparently - I believe them - it's very hard to treat.  I understand that I can't call up and say you have to come out and spray this bug today, so they're usually out in a reasonable amount of time if I have special issues.  They have a window for each of the treatments; as far as I know they don't miss the window.  For professionalism, the guys doing the treatments, I would say an A.  It's expensive.  I think the  shrubbery treatments are around $67 and the lawn treatments $47.  I'm gonna be using them all this season.  I don't have any plans to switch this season.

  • I purchased the $29 Angie's List deal for fertilizing up to a 1/4 acre lawn. Since I only wanted my back lawn treated,  I contacted a sales agent via e-mail prior to buying the service and was assured that my back lawn would qualify for the $29 price. I purchased the deal and selected 3 possible dates for the application. Someone from the company called several days later and left a voice message regarding a desired date for the fertilizer application and that, due to the size of our back yard, we would be subject to an additional payment of $16.95. Since we were leaving for vacation and I had confirmation in writing from a different individual at the company that the work would be performed for the original $29, I didn't return the call figuring I could clarify the situation after we returned. When we returned home, we found that the fertilization had been done and also found an invoice for $46. I contacted the original sales associate and he apologized for the confusion and to disregard the additional charge...unfortunately, unknown to me, my wife had already mailed the check...oh well. When I told him our check for the $46 had already been sent, he offered to credit us the additional charge toward a lime-treatment of our lawn. Since that would have cost us even MORE money, I declined and we let the matter go. In general, the lawn seemed to respond well to the treatment and, even with the additional charge, I may not have been able to do it myself for that amount and saved a lot of walking behind a spreader in the process. I guess this sort of confusion may happen when dealing with 2 different people for the same service.

  • Technician arrived and began spraying trees & shrubs around entire yard and periphery of the house. Since it was raining lightly during and afterwards, I was a little concerned about the application having a reduced effect. I asked the technician but he wasn't sure and stated that the company just sends him out to spray and, since they sent him that day, it must be ok. I e-mailed the company and was assured that the product should be effective despite the weather. They also mentioned to call them if we found any problem with mosquito activity and they would come out to re-apply if necessary.

  • The representative described the services that would be provided and the related charges. All trees and shrubs and the lawn would be treated and fertilized for the season. After two months of service, I noticed that my lawn was turning brown and there was evidence of Grubs in the lawn and insect infestation on the trees and bushes. The service manager was not concerned and said that after the Summer months, the landscape would show improvement. After follow up visits, the situation became worse. In 20 years of owning this property and using several landscape companies, my property never looked this terrible. I had to have my landscaper completely reseed many areas of the lawn and all the shrubs and trees lost their leaves due to insects.  The cost of reseeding was over $700 and I refused to pay any remaining invoices from Davey, and I advised them of my decision and canceled any further services. The service agent called himself a “certified arborist” but seemed to have no knowledge of what was happening to my property or how to correct the problems. A very disappointing experience.

  • Pete is a very nice personal young man. His biggest problem is lack of experience. Trimmed Ardivatis bushes and really did a horrible job.  Had to re pay a different landscaper and the bushes still have not totally grown in properly. Planted several bushes that  were not right given the spacing of the landscape of the house. On several occasions hired crews who did terrible work. His
    bookkeeping for payments received ,there are problems with checks received. Basically if Pete took direction and cleaned up part of his landscaping company, this business would offer better service. I think he will get better in time.

  • I started with the Big Deal for a bunch of man hours to catch up on some weeding and bed clean-up but quickly expanded the scope of the work due to their quality, value, and professionalism.  We are glad we did, the yard looks great.
    We also had a bunch of creeping ivy (creeping charlie) invaiding our yard.  For a couple years we tried to treat it ourselves with moderate success but these guys came out inspected the yard, suggested a treatment (at a reasonable price), and came back hours later to apply the treatment.   The weeds are gone and no signs of regrowth a month later.
    We will have them back.

  • Fertilization seemed effective but crabgrass preventer didn't seem as effective as other products I've put-down personally...maybe 2013 was just a tough year for crabgrass.
