    Handyman Matters
My wife delivered our new born 2 days prior, as I was rushing to get our toddler out the door, I left my keys in the interior lock of our deadbolt. Assessing my options of reentry, I decided to hip check the door open and in the process cracked the frame and broke some other stuff. With that, I was stuck and hustled to the hospital. I found HM on Angie's, called and made the arrangements. They were courteous and understanding of my situation, understood the necessity of having it repaired that day and were at my home within 30 mins of my call. Their serviceman was courteous and congratulatory of our new arrival, gave me my options of repair or replace and quickly made the repair for a reasonable price. All in all, highly recommend their service and people.

    Handyman Matters
I called Handyman Matters in April 2016 and asked if they would come give me an estimate for repairs to the outside of my home, plus give me an estimate for some work on the inside as well.  I needed them to do the work soon so I could get my home painted this summer.
They came right out, spent a good amount of time with me discussing the project, measuring, etc., but never called back and never sent their estimate.  I finally called them in the middle of June 2016 to ask about my estimate and I was told they would get something to me in a week.  It is now the middle of July 2016 and I have never heard from them again.
They ruined any chance I had of getting my home painted this summer.  I am very upset and disappointed.  If they didn't want the job or couldn't do the job, they should have been honest up front.  I could have had another contractor come out ASAP and could have had my home painted this summer like I wanted.
I could have given them tons of work if they wanted it.

    Bob The Handyman
Bob was here 3 times in the last 2 months.  He called several days in advance and showed up on time. Bob repaired interior
steps, a front entrance, side and back porch, installed smoke alarms and inside painting.
We felt that Bob provided value and would have him return.

    Bob The Handyman
I joined Angie's list last month because  I was desperate to find reputable professionals to tackle the many problem areas of our home.
Years ago--before Angie's List--I had had two awful experiences with handymen, one of whom overcharged, while the other was a bit on the creepy side.
I was delighted with the work accomplished by Bob, a graduate of Johnson College.  He called me back right away, and showed up early to work every day.  He is meticulous about his work.  For example, he replaced a door but was unhappy with the slightly uneven way it hung, due to an improperly installed frame.. Rather than letting it slide, since I hadn't even noticed, Bob pointed out the problem and insisted on taking the door down and planing it at his house so it would be perfect.
We would definitely call Bob for future tasks--if he has time!

    Bob The Handyman
Bob did excellent work, and that is probably and understatement. He started early and worked hard throughout the days on the job.  He included what I would call quality enhancements to the project that made the work that much better without an increase in price.  He was polite and informative, and even educational, in explaining what and why he was doing the work in the manner he did to the fire damaged structure.  He was very good at matching vinyl siding with pre-existing aluminum siding, particularly at corners.

    Picture Perfect Home Improvements
Rob and his assistant traveled a distance to our home to paint our second floor hallway, spare bedroom, master bedroom and bathroom.  All of these rooms were painted within two days and came out beautifully!  We have furbabies which they worked around so graciously.  They hung various frames, light fixtures and photographs throughout our entire home.  Rob even provided recommendations for drafty doorways and assisted with installing door sweeps which have helped tremendously!  The work was completed in a timely fashion (just in time for Christmas Even dinner) and we look forward to working with them again in the Fall of 2014!!

He did some good work.  He had a fair price.  I went with him because he answered my phone call and returned my phone call.  He was an honest guy.  If he said he would be here eight hours, he was here for eight hours.  He even stayed a little longer but didn’t make any fuss about it.  He was good.

    Hughes Home Improvement
He rushed through the work, and the result was poor.
Doors were not installed correctly. Doors were cut crooked/chipped.
Rough-cut furring strips were used as ceiling corner molding.
Hughes yelled at me when I told him the old window stops should be left in place for vinyl replacement windows.
Some boards were not attached were they should be.
More problems which I don't have time to list right now.

    Greg The Builder
He was nice when he was putting the roofs on the sheds and he seemed very good. We picked out a very nice and costly storm door for our back entrance. Paid for it in full at TM Supply. He was also supposed to change the fill valve and flapper in our commode. I BOUGHT the parts myself at Lowes. We thought he was good and he promised to be back as soon as the door came in. We paid him in full. BIG MISTAKE. After the roofs were done, which he was in a hurry to do because we had a dumpster here cleaning out our basement and he was able to toss the old shingles in it. He did deduct for the hauling of old shingles. But his workers left old shingles all over the yard and even the neighbors were picking them up in their yards. Not good. He promised he would be back to put the door in a few days. The door was bought in mid August. Days were going by, and we still had the dumpster and we were donating a bookshelf to our library. We live in a very small town. When coming home, there is Greg working on someone else's house. He yelled at us, and quot; What are you following me?and quot; Well maybe he didn't get the drift that we lived here all our lives. And we had to pass that way to get home. I asked him if he could just stop over for 5 minutes and change the fill valve as the commode was starting to make a hissing noise. NOPE. Too busy. Mind you, he was paid in full already. and quot;Call me next weekand quot; he yelled. Days go by, and no Greg. We called and he said he was working on a big job putting in windows. I asked when he was coming to do the work, he said he didn't know. We waited and waited. No call from him. It's already over a month that the door is sitting at TM Supply collecting dust.

We called and asked him if he can get the door in before I went for surgery. He said, and quot;my truck broke down and my best guy quit on meand quot;. The truck is always breaking down. We got that story many times. So we called our legal firm and was told that this guy has a past and it was not good. You can't always believe what you read on the computer. We called and asked for our money back. He said I was going to come Friday. He never called to tell us until we called asking for our money back. I said no, we just want the money back. He got nasty. I asked him why he didn't itemize his proposal. Nothing was itemized. No labor

nothing. In PA that is a state law that you need to write a separate bill for labor and materials. Greg is not doing that.

I asked him how much he was charging to change the fill valve. He was $20 more than the licensed plumbers we use. And Greg is not licensed plumber. He said he would leave cash in the mailbox. I said 'you will NOT'. You don't leave cash in a mailbox. I wanted a bank check, and he got furious. We got our money back with a bank check.

I hated to write this but people need to know just what some 'builders' will do to get their foot in the door. I never encountered anyone like this and now I can see why his worker up and quit on him. He was doing all the work for Greg. Something wasn't right there.

And I see on another part of Angie's List someone else had the same problem with him not showing up and the truck always breaking down. This is the pattern he sets and when I am asking him a question about the work, he is always walking away turning his back on me. Too much in a hurry yet your paying for the services. Yes we made our mistake in paying him in full as he seemed so nice but were we wrong. Once he got that money, he would not return calls and I had to threaten legal action.
