    Guida Door & Window

What a disappointment.  I contacted them based on their terrific reviews out here on Angie's List.  Set an apt for 4PM on a Thursday.  Let work early to get home.  4PM comes and goes.  At 4:15 the phone rings and a gentleman states he's running late and finishing up at his last call.  He's about 40 minutes away.  Are you kidding me?

First, things happen.  I get it.  But this wasn't an installation, it was a sales person.  How do sales calls run that long off of schedule?

Second, even if that's the case....don't you know at about 3PM that there's no way you're going to make it to my place by 4PM?  So why not call then so I don't leave the office.

I'm then promised they'll call back to reschedule.  That was 6 days ago...no call.

Really saddened by this poor experience.  Given this kind of issue with a sales call I wouldn't trust them to do the work anyway.

    Distinctive Creations of Orlando
He did everything great. Actually he is his own worst critic and would point out to me things that I would never have noticed that he intended to fix, which he always did!
The other thing that makes him unique is he has an eye for things. If you are struggling with a decision he will give you his honest opinion on everything from light fixtures to paint color to flooring.

    Volpe Enterprises Inc
After having a very unpleasant experience with a previous independent contractor who was totally wreckless and worked for himsel. I was so glad to find the calibar and professionalism of the Volpe Enterprises team. The initial consultation with Volpe Enterprises was painless and their technician that reviewed the work to be performed was very knowledgable about what needed to be completed and offered what the best course of actions would be. I had some very serious gutter leakage issues which the Volpe Enterprise team was able to complete and remedy for me. They were punctual, professional and very respectful of my home. All work debris was removed after the job was completed. I am very satisfied with the work performed. I would recommend their services to anyone.

    Zen Windows Philadelphia
I called Zen Windows and spoke to Mak Sato. He was very professional. He asked me to send him the measurements and pictures, if possible. I did both immediately and had a quote the same day. He sent product and company information via email. This was very helpful in making my decision. I was hoping to have the installation done prior to an event less than three weeks away. He did not guarantee this in any way. I thought this was fair and honest. I placed the door order the following business day and much to my delight the door came in and the installation was completed earlier than expected. I am very happy with the quality of the door, the look, the professionalism of the installers, and the level of customer service I received. I will refer Zen to friends and would certainly hire again.

    Meridian Construction
At the first meeting, when Larry showed up with examples of their contracts, itineraries for meetings and descriptions of work they had done, we realized we were in good hands.  We used a different kitchen design firm but Larry partnered well with the architect and designer and he and Mick built their schedule and plans around that design.  We were pleased at how well they worked together and this helped when surprises popped up in the construction.  Although we thought we had covered every contingency, they found different framing than expected and no insulation in the kitchen walls when the demolition started.  By the time we made it home from work, Mick had already contacted the township, found what needed to be done and he and Larry had options for us to consider.  They reacted well, quickly and fairly.
Throughout the rest of the project as issues were identified they adjusted work being performed to keep the project moving forward and on schedule.  Weekly recap meetings (with a prepared agenda) helped us review what was accomplished, resolve issues, and know what was planned for the following week.

Matt and Tom of the construction crew were professional and treated our house as if it was their own.  Their attention to detail as they installed the cabinets was wonderful.  Also, the flooring was done beautifully.
We would definitely hire them again and are already planning on having more windows replaced.

    Guida Door & Window
Guida was very easy to work with.  We initially called to get a quote for a new front door, and the sales rep was out within the week.  I believe it was Joe, though I'm not 100% sure.  He spent about an hour talking to us about the company history, the insulation technology they use in their doors, and then the pricing/options.  We were impressed by the pricing, and we felt like he was pretty up front with us about the discounts he was able to provide for us.  We decided to get a few more quotes to compare though, since every salesman is supposed to make you feel like they're giving you a great deal.
Within a week, we had gotten two more quotes.  Guida was able to beat the other quotes both on pricing and the quality of the door offered - the insulation around the edges of their doors is significantly better than the competition we saw.  We called Guida back to confirm, and a week or 2 later the salesman came back out to finalize the purchase.  This was around the first week of May, and he said the door would be ready for installation towards the end of June.
The door was actually installed the first week of July.  Installation took about 3 hours, was done quickly and relatively quietly.  Other than the sound of the power tools, we hardly knew the installer was here while watching TV in just the next room.  Everything was completely cleaned up and the installation looked great.  I have no complaints and would recommend Guida to anybody looking to have a door installed.  The only reason I didn't give them A's across the board was because the door took a week or 2 longer than they anticipated to be ready for installation.

    Pete Bilotta General Contractor LLC
Finding a competent and reliable contractor that understood our goals had been a constant challenge. We actually had 3 other contractors out to our home. One never responded back with a quote, another came back with a quote that was considerably higher than expected, and the third didn't give us the confidence that they could do the job properly.
In an effort to make the process less stressful, we opted to use Pete through an Angie's List Big Deal promo. Our thought was that it was a low risk way of having a small project done while getting to know Pete's capabilities and responsiveness.
Through the entire project, Pete was incredibly responsive and remained flexible as the project evolved from a small drop ceiling into a significantly larger job that involved building and finishing a partition wall in our basement, framing out under our basement stairs, installing doors in the new partition and other electrical work that included new lighting, outlets & switches.
Bottom line - Pete did a fantastic job and we're anxious to have him back for the other 3 projects we need to have done. He was able to offer creative solutions to some of the issues we needed to resolve. In addition, he was incredibly detail-oriented, timely and communicative. Ultimately, It feels good to have a contractor we trust for future projects!

    D L White & Associates
Doug did a fantastic job. It turned out much better than I thought it would. I will recommend him to my friends and would use him again. His price was about 700 dollars less than some other estimates. He was honest about the cost of the work. The job should not have cost as much as others quoted who thought we were unaware of home repairs. He got us in his schedule right away too.

    Fallston Remodeling & Carpentry INC.
I contacted Paul and he was able to come out within 1 day's notice to give us an estimate on the work needed on our soon-to-be new home.  Although it took some time to get the final details down on our contract, the outcome was fantastic.  He and his colleague worked for 7 days, starting at 7:30am, to finish all the work.  And In record time.  Paul was always willing to add any additional work needed and listened to all our concerns.  While removing the window in the kitchen we had an infestation of carpenter ants.  Paul took pictures for us and removed the ants and cleaned the area for us.  We have the pest company coming out to treat the issue.  Overall, we are very happy with all that Paul the work he completed.  He pricing was great.
We plan to gut the master bath and will definitely be giving him a call when the time comes.

    Castle "The Window People"
Being in sales for 20+ years, I made it clear from the beginning, as I had done with all the contractors we met with, that I wouldn't accept the 'hard sale'. Having set that expectation up front... and sticking to my guns during the 'presentation' phase, the sales process wasn't bad. The initial installation was tentatively schedule for early June. We were happy when we received the call to install a few weeks earlier than expected. Castle had 7 installers show up... one early and the rest on time. The installer that showed up early was the 'sliding door' installer and began work as soon as he showed up. He, as with the rest of the crew, was extremely professional...He answered all my questions and addressed any initial concerns I had; this is the largest home project my wife and I have undertaken since we've owned the house now for 20 years, and we were very nervous. When doing something like windows and sliding patio doors, we were extremely concerned about the completion of the job and the 'curb appeal' of the new windows. After a few hours, it was obvious that my wife and I really had nothing to worry about. My son and I were impressed with the coordination with which the crew worked the installation job...like a machine Henry Ford would have been proud of. One crew member removed the old windows, cleared the openings/window frame and made measurements for the 'capping' ... he worked with another crew member on cutting and installing the capping. Once they were done with the room, they moved on to the next... and so on. When they were done with the room, two other crew members prepped the new window and installed into the open window frame.... then they moved to the next room following the initial two crew members. What was great during the job, was that there were never more than three or four window openings empty at one time (I was concerned about this as it threatened rain all day).
When all the windows were in their frames, some of the crew departed. The remaining crew members, methodically went from room to room, window to window, inspecting the installation, put the final touches on such as the caulking (inside and out!) and then removed the window stickers and cleaned up that area... then on to the next room and so on.
Also, the molding they put around the sliding doors and the new knee wall and 2 double hung windows looks great!
Once the entire installation was completed and everything cleaned up, you couldn't tell that we had a major project done. The crew was at our home from 9:45am and the last guys departed at 6:45pm. I believe that it was the installation crew, the quality and great look of the windows along with the great warranty that made the most impact on our entire experience with Castle
The windows and doors are of excellent quality and operate flawlessly.
