  • In my search for a good place to board my cat for three weeks, I stopped at Acorn Valley to tour the facilities. They were very happy to take time out of their day to explain their housing system and feeding schedule in detail, as well as show me the kennels in the "cat room." The "cat room" is kept separate from the "dog room" (even by noise) with clean kennels lining the wall. A series of windows with comfy-looking ledges face the kennels. Each cat is allowed an hour each day to stretch out and spend time on the ledge and receive special attention from a care-giver. If no other cat is boarded at the same time, the cat has free range of the room. Organic, all-natural food is provided by the facility, but bringing food is recommended for back-up should the cat not like the variety. Special requests, like afternoon snacks, are entertained by the staff with understanding and precision. Each kennel is provided with its own litterbox which is one less thing to remember when juggling cat, toys, food, and catbeds all in the same trip. Based on the enthusiasm of the staff and their willingness to provide special treats and attention for my persnickety princess, I decided my cat would be in good hands at Acorn Valley, and I was not disappointed. Two additional things to note before boarding here is that they do require proof of rabies and feline leukemia vaccinations, and only take cash or check.

  • I have been using Rockhill for about 4 years now.  I switched to them after the vet I used for over 15 years would not assist us with spaying/neutering the stray cats in the neighborhood.  Rockhill was one of the few vets in the area that would accept the discounted coupons (don't know what to call them) that I received from Spay and Save so that I could trap and spay/neuter the cats in the neighborhood (do not have $298 each that I was quoted by all the other vets to spay/neuter 7 cats that are not mine).
Since they helped, they got a chance to earn the rest of my business.  We have a pet dog and a pet cat.
I have had no issues with them.  We have a dog (unknow breed) who was very unsure around people in the begining (she is a rescue with an unknown history since she was dumped at the shelter we got her from over night -- someone tied her to the fence there and left her...).  She has always appeared comfortable with all the vets.
Since we have had our dog, she has undergone 2 surgeries there (one to have her spayed and the other to remove a lump).  She suffers from seperation anxiety and the vet techs were nice enough to take turns sitting in the kennel with her to calm her down when she was in recovery.  Don't know too many other places were that would happen.
There are times that I have had to wait a bit longer to get in then I would like, but it is an animal hospital and I understand that as such they take emergency situations in; therefore, if you are there for a yearly check-up, you might end up waiting a bit longer...so I don't hold it against them.
