    House Doctor Home Improvement Services
He did an excellent job. The house looks totally different. All the 1970's paneling is gone . The steps downstairs look brand new even though they are 45 years old. The bedrooms look awesome and the bathrooms are beautiful . He was able to stay on time for the most part . The painting had to be delayed for a few days due to the humid weather. I planned to use him again for the jobs I have upcoming next year.

    Surefire Construction Inc
Dave was great throughout the whole process and was very patient with our changes. Once the final draft was decided on, Dave had the final pricing within a day. Once we signed on, Surefire had us started within 2 weeks. Their supervisor Steve was involved from the very 1st day and was great to work with. We did change a few items once the layout started in the basement with no hesitation or delays from Surefire. Steve walked us through the process from the framing, a plumbing walk through, electrical walk through, including the surround sound for the t.v's and the bar layout. It was a pleasure to have a company keep us involved throughout the process and let us make some of the decisions, where we could. Once the basement was at drywall, they helped us lay out the rooms for furniture so we could order the right size items. We had custom paint throughout and they were very accommodating when we changed a few accent walls. The covered the hardwood floors once they were installed. The cabinetry at the bar was made easy with their cabinet distributor they used. We went to their showroom and the space measurements were already there. We confirmed several items we wanted to add and chose the cabinets and we were on our way! Once the carpet went in, it was down to the small detail touch ups. Steve walked us through and made notes on any of our concerns/touch ups needed. They completed this in a day and the job was complete. We were recommended Surefire from a family friend. I was previously not a member of Angie's List, but became one so that I could leave this review. Besides the normal construction hiccups, this process and the men that worked on our project we just a pleasure. I already recommended them to another friend of mine. They will be back for the kitchen and bathroom renovations I have in mind for the future. They really nailed this one!

    USA Insulation of Philadelphia
In the attic, we had wooden slats that covered the floor so they had to go under the floorboards. Although we were told by the salesman that there would always be a person on the other side of the wall to check for problems, the second guy was not watching and they blew a hole in the ceiling of the bedroom ( see pictures). They assured us that they would fix the hole, spackle it and repaint the ceiling. They did spackle the hole but only painted the area that they fixed - not the whole ceiling. And they did a lousy spackling job. We had to get someone else to smooth out the spackle and repaint the ceiling. We could have pushed to get them to fix the ceiling but it was late on the last day and we wanted the job done. As for the gel on the outside, the truck broke down due to the heat of the day and it took 3 days to finish the rest of the job including fixing the ceiling and the inside walls. Although the salesperson, did a first investigation of the house and said it could all be done from the outside, the workers found that one bedroom was covered in concrete so they had to drill from the inside of one of the bedrooms leaving many holes to be spackled. This time it was not so bad and we were able to sand and repaint that bedroom. But the workers could have done a better job of cleanup of the sparkle. It was all over the baseboard and the rug and we had to use rags to clean it up. We realize that things happen. And maybe we were too hopeful based on the salesman's pitch. But we would rather have had the salesperson tell us the truth about the possibility of drilling holes in the inside of the house even though he did a thorough inspection. All in all, we are hoping that insulating our house will save us a lot of money in heating costs. The manager was very accommodating, we saved some money by paying with a check vs a credit card. The workers were very nice and the lead person was very knowledgeable. Any renovation is stressful. We would probably recommend them because now we know what to expect. This company was recommended to us by a number of people. We have no doubt that the product itself is excellent. For that reason, we expected it all to go smoothly. It did not. Everything that could go wrong, basically did. It all got fixed but ... We did not plan for a hole in the ceiling, the truck breaking down and go into the shop to fix the problem with the gel overheating and not coming out of the hose fast enough, the concrete in one of the bedrooms that meant that all the holes had to be drilled on the inside of the bedroom and we had to repaint. So for those reasons, we are giving them a rating of fair. We hope your experience will be a lot better than ours !!

    SPS INSULATION LLC
Brian came out to my house and was seeming very professional. He gave me the story of his company. He stated that he started out "working for doctors and lawyers in the main line," and said "so you know how demanding they are." He told me how his company is the best in the area, with the most powerful equipment and could really pack in the insulation and get signifigant results. He even spoke about getting the job done for my "health and safety." He went around discussing everything that needed to be done. He measured and took many notes. When he left he said that he had another job and would get back to me at the end of the day with the estimate. We called several times over the next week with ZERO response. I emailed him and also got ZERO response. To be honest I feel a little weird knowing someone walked in every room of my house and attic and has not even returned a phone call. Maybe since I do not live in the Main Line I don't get to receive the service of his so called top notch company.

    Green Stone Energy LLC

Andrew, Nick, and Erick from Green Stone Energy did a fantastic job on our attic work. Andrew and Nick showed up exactly at 8am (just as the appointment person had indicated). Immediately as I opened the door, Andrew introduced himself and Nick. Andrew explained to me exactly what they were going to do today (essentially explaining the specifics outlined on my proposal). Doing this reassured me that they knew exactly what they were going to do. In addition, Erick, who provided my initial inspection, showed up to the job site to ensure Andrew and Nick were going to perform the services properly and ensure they did not miss anything based upon his outline of the services!

Andrew and Nick were very clean, laying tarp all over to ensure no mess was made. After they completed the services, they vacuumed the entire path through which they came in and even swept my sidewalk!

The entire job took about three (3) hours which was extremely efficient. The job itself was very affordable ~$1600.

Andrew and Nick conducted themselves with complete professionalism throughout the entire process. Thank you Andrew, Nick, Erick and Green Stone Energy!

They arrived when they said they would. spread drop cloths where they would be walking. The owner stopped by to check on the progress. All went well. It took about 8 hours from start to finish. My initial observations are showing a positive improvement in the houses ability to hold temperature which is an increase in overall comfort. It is too early to determine a dollar savings in gas and electric usage. I would recommend and use them again.  All were very nice to deal with.

    Green Stone Energy LLC

In a nutshell, everything went perfectly well - I only wished all my dealings with contractors went as well in terms of exceeding expectations.

I had an energy assessment from the local utility (PECO), and they provided me with a list of contractors that they work with (they do a spot check on contractors afterwards to insure quality).

I contacted four contractors on the list, and of the four, Dutch (the owner of Green Stone Energy) provided the most comprehensive proposal (though two of the other contractors gave extremely useful information as well).

With most of the other bids, I had to ask a number of questions and do my own research, but with Green Stone, their proposal was extremely extensive and I only had to ask 2-3 clarification questions. In areas where contractors gave conflicting information in their proposal, I went back to PECO for advice, and Green Stone's bid met the bar.

At face value, Green Stone's proposal was the most expensive, but, once I broke down the tasks by line item and made adjustments (eg - Green Stone included soffit work, whereas the other bids did not), they actually came in very competitive.

What made the final decision for me was when an independent outsider gave Green Stone two thumbs up for extensive proposals, quality of work, and pride/ownership of the work done (they had worked on another project with Green Stone and had the opportunity to observe their work first hand).

I also checked with two local contractors to do the same work (not on the PECO list) - they came in lower price, but much less detailed, and gave me less confidence that they could do the job as well as Green Stone.

In regards to the actual work, Christian (the Green Stone Energy person who did most of the work) was polite, clean, organized, professional, and did an outstanding job. His associate (Tim), who came on the last day, also did an outstanding job and they were very approachable with answering my questions and taking the time to be sure their work was done right.

They did subcontract out the exterior soffit venting (to help with air flow circulation in the attic). I asked for bids from other roofers to be sure I was getting a good deal. The subcontractor roofer (Triple Pine Roofing from Gordonville) did an outstanding job, and cost less than the other roofer bids. Mike worked all day, and did an amazing amount of work in the hot summer heat.

(I viewed it as an asset that Green Stone worked closely with a sub-contractor for the soffits - Dutch explained to them what needed to be done and made sure it was coordinated with the work his own people did).

Bottom line - great proposal, great service, great people for Green Stone Energy. Two thumbs up.. .

    Doyle Drywall Co
From my first email and phone contacts to his visit for an estimate, Larry was professional and very helpful. We received an original estimate that was very competitive with other contractors but the difference with Larry, is that he did not try to get us to do other unnecessary work in order to jack up the price. Even with the addition of cutting and installing trim around the doors and windows, his estimate was the best one out there. Larry and Raphael arrived right on time Monday morning, prepped the room by putting down heavy duty paper on the floor, removed the old drywall, installed insulation to three walls, and then cut and hung new drywall to four walls. Larry and Raphael returned early Tuesday morning to finish with the drywall as well as to cut and install trim to two doors, two windows and floor trim. They even did some touch-up work to problem areas in our ceiling that was not covered in the estimate. Larry and Raphael removed all of the trash from the room and then cleaned the floors in the bedroom as well as the hallway and the entryway. They did such an awesome job with the room that we will definitely have them back to work on our kitchen and our bathroom. I cannot express just how happy we are with the work that Larry and Raphael did, they do excellent work and even tolerated our jumping and yapping puppy.

Central Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning
I purchased an offer from Angie's List to have my outdoor facucet replaced.  My old one was leaking and corroded.  Central plumbing came out and installed it quickly and it looks nice, works great.  My only issue was the plumber left space betweent the pipe and my wall so the faucet wiggled some when turning off and on.  The hole also would have been a way for critters and air to get into the home.  I just filled it up with some expanding insulation in a can and it works perfect now.  I do think he should have suggested or done that himself.  Other then that he was nice enough, did his work quickly and explained what he was doing.

    Green Energy Guard LLP
Dennis and his crew showed u pon time and set about their work.  The work was done in about a half day.  After the work was done, I took a look and asked Green Energy to add some additional insulation to my attic door.  They took care of all my requests and I was very satisfied.
