    Keenan's Handyman Service
    The old caulking in my shower enclosure was mildewy and gross. These guys showed up on time, cleaned and replaced the caulking, charged me correctly, and worked quickly. They were professional and friendly and my shower looks great!

    I called Mark after completing a thorough review of his website to understand all of the different types of work he performs, so that I would not be wasting his time.   I told him over the phone (and send him a list via email in advance) that I had an extension to-do list and that he could look at the work and let me know which part or all that he wanted to bid on.  The list included spot light replacements, gutter cleaning, light carpentry work, light roof repair, staining, painting and plaster repair...  In addition there was some tile repair and hot tub trim work that he did not seem interested in, and that was fine.  I also had an electrical outlet that needed replaced... he quoted me $ 85 and I declined...  (replaced it myself in about 5 minutes).  For everything else, probably about 2 or 3 days of work.

    He came out and we walked through everything for about an hour.  He said he would clean the gutters and change the spotlights that day and that he would contact me within 2 days with an estimate for the other work.  He is a pleasant person and it was a nice visit.. I felt that he would be competent in the various work items that we had zeroed in on.

    It's now been 2 weeks and I haven't heard a word from him... nothing.  It is frustrating to have a contractor come out, take your time and then not even the courtesy of a call.

    I don't really want to hear from him now.

    I described the nature of the problem - basement waterproofing; he asked me for my location, when I told him Murrysville, his tone changed abruptly: he said to the effect "well, we have had problems with Murrysville; let me ask you a question: are you interested in the lowest price or are you interested in a relationship which a company"; I answered I was not looking for a relationship, just someone who would solve the problem; he said well, there is maintenance, etc.; I told him he was prejudging me based on where I lived, and based on this fact alone, and his arrogance, I would not do any business with him;

    Spotless Solutions
    I called Spotless Solutions in early July after closing on our new home for painting and a number of handyman tasks. Mike came out the very next morning for an estimate. It was hard to get on their schedule and to have everything completed all at once as they are very busy but the quality of the work has been great so far. I've had people comment on what a nice painting job they did, and they were also great about helping solve additional problems we keep discovering in our new home. All in all it's been great working with Spotless Solutions.

    I called and left a message.  Within a couple hours Mark called me back.  He left a message.  I called back and left a message.  He called back and got me.  He very professional on the phone and quoted the price.  We scheduled the work.  He called me an hour before the work was scheduled and asked if he could come early.  He started 1/2 hour before the scheduled time and finished promptly.  The job was a little harder than expected but turned out fine.  No extra charge either.  Mark was courteous and careful about cleaning off his shoes and cleaning up the worksite afterwards.  Nice guy.  Good work.  No problems.  We talked about scheduling another small job in the future.

    Updates Unlimited
    I thought with this deal I thought I could have odds and ends jobs done, when he arrived he mentioned he usually only does flooring and bathroom remodeling.   I wanted a new door put on my garage; I purchased the wrong door, he said if I purchased to correct door, he would come back out and try to install it. But here were some issues with getting it to fit. I also want a small corner piece of wood put up where some wood had rotted; he said I would have to call a soffit/fascia person to come out to perform the work. He did fix a lock on a door for me and also took my door back to the store. He was very thoughtful for the jobs that he did do for me. I don't want to hurt his reputation. The things that I wanted done just weren't in his scope of work. I would like a refund please.

    Sylvia'S Small Jobs

    I had the guy over for a few things -- mainly checking out a smell in the wall where a rodent had lived.  We were worried that it had died in the wall.  He made small holes in the wall (which he patched afterwards with a mixture, I agreed to paint them myself) and ran a small camera inside.  He found out that a rodent had lived there before but that the smell is more likely a plumbing issue, which would require a snake and a scope that he didn't have.  I had him do a few other miscellaneous things around the house including patching holes in a bathroom wall from when a vanity and mirror were replaced, securing molding on a paneled wall that was coming down, and repairing a downspout.  The patches in the bathroom he said to wait until the next day when it dries completely to sand a little and paint.  I was satisfied with the work he did and will have him over again.

    I think he was reasonably priced and did a decent job for the things he did.  I liked the fact that he knew his limits and knew what I should call someone else to do.  I had him look at a retaining wall that I will need replaced this year.  He was able to give me a couple of options and said he could do it but that a landscape company with a crew would probably be lower priced.

    He does not have a webside, and neither the receipt or sheet he printed has a home address, but his phone number is 724-882-5136.  He says he does small engine repair for lawnmowers, but I did not use that service and do not know how good he is at that.

    Mark was very responsive to my calls, work was done on time and to expectation.  He was easy to reschedule when I had to stop and wait for exterminator.  Very professional, no surprises.  Will be hiring him in near future to do work in the basement.

    Our back porch is 20' x 16' and already had a roof and railings. Rance researched products and chose an aluminum frame product that would work well with the exisitng structure. The result appears to be durable and is aesthetic. We specified using pet screen and settled on having the pet screen installed on just the lower portion of the screens to save money and simplify the installation. In addition to doing an excellent job on the installation, Rance communicated progress very well and dealt with some material delivery issues promptly and professionally. He provided a realistic schedule and met it. The price was very reasonable for the work completed, although the materials cost a little more than expected. Still the result was well worth the price as installation is such high quality.
