Basement Waterproofing reviews in Murrysville

Chris Dallabas Sweet Success Contracting is a one stop shop for a wide array of home contracting work. I found them under plaster repair and when he came to give me an estimate I learned that he could do much more than that. I used Sweet Success for almost everything that I needed done in the home. He had helpful recommendations in terms of how to approach different repairs. For my bathroom remodeling, I handled the design work and picked out the components and pain colors. I believe this is why his prices are lower than bathroom design firms. The quality of Sweet Successs work is very good. Chris has a lot of experience and has seen everything before, which helps him to give an accurate estimate. He is careful with his estimates. Sweet Success will always be my first call for home contracting.

    MT&R Basement Waterproofing & Foundations
Mike did a great job, under difficult circumstances.  His boss passed away the week he was supposed to work on the job, and in the midst of taking over the company business, he and his crew did a nice job with the drainage issues on our home.  He also took the time to explain things to me.

    Advanced Basement Solutions
Advanced Basement Solutions fit me in within less than a week's time.  We were in the inspection stage of buying a house, and the house inspector found some potential drainage and mold problems in the basement.  Advanced Basement Solutions was booked up, but they found a way to squeeze me in that week.  They came out and did an estimate.  They were so honest, they explained the number one solution would be to do something that they could only do part of - they could put in the internal french drain and external grate drain, but not the concrete pad outside the basement patio door where they water problem was occurring.  Thus, they were willing to lose my business by being totally honest with me about the best solution.  I tried to pay them for their estimate, but they declined.  I see why they get such good ratings on Angie's List!

    Foundation Station Inc
Jason provided the estimate was provided in a few days after setting up an appointment.  Understandably things are busy due to the rainy season but luckily they were able to fit us in. The workers, Steve, Brendan and few other arrived promptly and were very courteous.  In 3 days the work was completed. The floor looks smooth and they left the area very clean.  The day after the work was completed we had heavy rains and the system worked perfectly. The pump pipe drains into our downspout to get the water away from the foundation.  We are so happy to have a dry basement finally!   We highly recommend Foundation Station.

I cannot explain how wonderful Aquaguard personnel, the crew that worked on the project. My husband was very ill whenthis job started and was bed ridden. Keith the crew supervisor and the workers would go in and make sure he was informed on their progress. My daughter was there when this was going on and they helped her with anything that she needed help with.A large tree fell across our road when they were working on our wall and they immediately stopped doing the work they were doing and moved the tree which they knew neither my daughter nor I could do.Unfortunately, my husband passed away before the project was completed and did not get to see the excellent  job that they did for us. He did tell me that they were the best and most honest people he had ever worked with (and he was a real fuss budget).I can only sing praises for them and would recommend them in a heartbeat. Keith the crew supervisor has made several trips back just to check on things for me..Again thank each and everyone at Aqua Guard for their professionalism, compassion and just going above their call of duty.Madelyn S. They did a fabulous job and were awesome. They showed up when they said they were going to be there. They got the job done quickly and I have not had a problem with those walls since then. I think I am supposed to be calling them back to tighten these big gigantic screws; I have not called them yet.

Keystone Basement Systems & Structural Repair Inc
Very professional, very polite, very knowledgable expert provided excellent advice, including simple things I wouldn't have thought of myself. He crawled around my air conditioner, got dirty in the landscaping, and stood in the hot sun to evaluate my roof line. I was very pleased with the advice and would have hired Keystone for repairs if I had needed any. Totally worth the evaluation fee.

    Mid-Atlantic Systems of WPA, Inc.
Long Story: We have a basement dampness problem. A contractor advised me to have the gutters and outside drainage looked into before looking at any interior solution (i.e., basement French drain and sump-pump). Subsequent to this Mr. Rick from Mid-Atlantic visited us (me and my wife, both senior citizens) at home on July 10, 2013 to give an estimate. I told him about the previous advice I had received. He told us the majority of the water in the basement was coming from ground water, not water being collected by the roof/drain system. He estimated an outside solution at about $45,000 (involving extensive digging) plus additional thousands to fix the disrupted landscaping, then quoted us an inside French-drain sump-pump solution at about $10,000. Then he told us that if we would leave the date of installation flexible (i.e., at their convenience) and signed on the spot, he could get us a very good price, $7910. I asked him repeatedly what about the outside drainage problem that was noted by the other contractor. He said not to worry; his solution would take care of it, regardless. I asked him repeatedly what if the sump pump never came on ? he guaranteed me it would. He said by signing we would be getting peace of mind. What swayed us most was his guarantee. Also he showed us letters from different people about how good a job they have done in the past, their patented technology, etc. One of the letters was from Ft. Belvoir in Maryland, where he claimed he had done the waterproofing on the soldiers barracks. I have been to Ft. Belvoir on business, and this made an impression on me. After a brief conference with my wife, we signed and paid Mr. Rick 1/3 of $7910.

The actual installation took place July 22nd. The workmen arrived on time. They were very courteous and worked hard and installed the French drain covering the east and north section of the base of the basement walls as per plan. They tested it by pouring water into the sump pump well using a garden hose and confirming that the sump pump came on when the water level was a few inches above the top of the pump.

Just as the crew were finishing we had a torrential downpour. We saw water dripping into the basement at two points, both located near respective downspouts on the outside of the house. The water was dripping over the inside of the basement wall and the sump pump water level remained unchanged through the entire torrential rainfall and the pump consequently did not come on. To protect their still wet concrete work the crew installed pails to catch the water (I have pictures of this). I took a video (available on request) starting at the outside front of the house: it shows water gushing out of two downspouts, apparently due to blockage downstream. The water is seen to be heading directly at the areas of the basement where the water was seen to be dripping in as viewed from inside the basement (the video covers both inside and outside). I called Mid-Atlantic waterproofing right then and talked to Sam, the boss of the crew (the crew chief was named John). Apparently Sam talked to John who told me that the warranty did not cover water coming in from the outside over the basement walls. John told me he felt bad for me because they did not want to leave us in a situation where their work had clearly not solved our problem. I paid him the balance of the $7910 due and wrote on the check that the problem was not solved.

I had a talk with Mr. Rick on 7/27/13. I told him he had sold us an unneeded solution and that I believed the sump pump would never come on as long as I kept the drains clean. I asked him if it would be acceptable proof to Mid-Atlantic that the sump pump solution was incorrect if I installed, at my expense, a sump-pump usage meter (there are devices available that sense water rising in the sump-pump well and send a text message to a cell-phone). Mr. Rick evaded the question and insisted the pump would come on. I asked him several times what would be acceptable evidence to Mid-Atlantic that the sump pump was not needed; every time his standard answer was the "pump will come on".

The real problem was solved by Roto-Rooter. They flushed the drains using a water jet. Then they inspected the insides of the drains using a fiber-optic camera. They located two regions of blockage and a broken pipe. The total cost of all this to me was $3730. Since that work the basement has had no water seeping in over the walls, even in heavy rains. The level of the water in the sump pump well has not budged (it is well below the pump) and not once has the pump come on.

I believe Mr. Rick sold us the wrong solution to our problems and misrepresented the guarantee. Even if I recover nothing, as long as others see this complaint my purpose will be served. I would ask anyone contemplating doing business with Mid-Atlantic to know that the guarantee only covers ground water seeping up from the inside bottom of the basement walls; no matter what the salesman says it does not cover rain water seeping in over the basement walls.

They arrived promptly, completed the work within the time specified. They installed  french drains along three walls of the basement , an outlet for the sump pump and the sump pump itself.  They also sealed a crack in the mortar in the wall cement block at no extra charge.  The concrete work was neat and smooth and they cleaned up the work site well.  There was a lot of dust in the basement and through the first floor (the only access to the basement is through the kitchen.)  And we had to clean that up, but otherwise the work site was well cleaned up.

The person who came out was nice, professional, and engaging.  I don’t know how to judge the price but they seemed knowledgeable and like they knew what they were doing.  He was punctual, he was thorough both inside and outside, he showed us the problem areas, and he was very clear about how they would address the problems.  I thought the guarantee on the work was good.  It seems like a very professional company.
