    Basement Waterproofing Solutions
The workers were on time, very efficient - all items in basement were covered (including the furnace and hot  water tank) before starting the work.  The owner checked  to be sure that all was being done as presented.  After the job was completed, the basement was cleaned and all debris removed.
In 2013, we experienced a sewer drain leak in the basement.  After it was repaired by our plumber,  we called Basement Solutions to replace soiled vapor barrier.  They promptly came, disinfected the area and flushed the drains to insure that there was no sewage present and replaced the vapor barrier.  Very efficient and helpful.

Excellent process. I Emailed a diagram with measurements and a disciption or what I expected. The response was prompt and no unessasary sales pitch. I already had systems put in before and was aware of what was needed. The room was a apartment bedroom and I was concernd as to what was going to be visable after the job was done. After we had carpeting installed you didn't know the system was there. They didn't make the already cleaned apartment dirty and the didn't scratch up the walls and moldings while carring the debris out and the fill in. Also I appreciated not parking equitment on lawn area, I wont have to fix lawn in the spring.

    Cottrell Basement Waterproofing LLC
    1. Company representative was punctual for appointment.
, explained procedure to be quoted and gave a fair price for work quoted.  We
decided on a different company because of the materials used and procedure for doing the job..

George W Kraft Jr & Son Contractor
They are excellent contractors. We have invested roughly $20000 of improvements in our home during the past five years; George and Lucas Kraft have completed all of that work (along with their skilled crew of workers). They have upgraded/replaced two sliding doors (one to our main floor deck and one to the outside from our basement). They have also upgraded/replaced our kitchen sink and worked with a specialty contractor to replace all of our counter-tops with Corian surfaces. They have also performed a number of smaller jobs, including installing an outdoor (window unit) AC support, replacing our mailbox, replacing the sliding door on the shower in our master bathroom, and upgrading/replacing our in-sink erator (garbage disposal).
The biggest, and most outstanding, job they have completed in our house is our finished basement (which consisted of just four concrete walls when they started). They worked with our family on the design from scratch and provided a detailed estimate of all materials and labor, They then cut an additional egress (an access door that allows the space to serve as a stand-alone apartment, if desired) out of the concrete wall/foundation of the house. Subsequently, they built all the walls (for four separate rooms) and completed all of the wiring, plumbing, flooring (laminate and carpet), insulation, cabinetry, lighting, and everything else that needed to be done. They also helped us fill the kitchen with appliances. By the time they were finished, we had a complete kitchen, bathroom with stand-up shower and linen closet, bedroom with closet and sliding door egress to the back yard, and living room (with sliding door access to utilities closet). George's meticulous woodwork in the kitchen and linen closet was especially impressive. They also retained some (hidden) space for storage. Lucas, George, and their crew did such an outstanding job that we receive glowing comments from every new visitor to our house; this continues to happen even four years after the work was completed.
We have recommended (and will continue to recommend) George W. Kraft & Son Contractors to anyone we know who seeks high quality contracting work of various kinds at very fair prices. They are by far the best contractors with whom we have ever worked.

    Steve L. Dellinger Contractor
Steve was very detailed in his first visit spending time and answering all our questions.
Following his presentation and estimate that was soon to follow work began as soon as the weather was warm enough. Once work began every step of the process was competed in a timely and thoroughly professional manner. Care was taken to protect our property and the workers from the somewhat caustic process.
First the site was leveled with a large backhoe, forms were put in place, concrete was poured colored red the brick color we wanted. Next a black nasty looking powerer was applied by Steve wearing protective gear.
Then the amazing part- using forms about 1 X 2 feet the image of recycled brick the concrete really starts to look like brick. The forms are put in place and then Steve stands on them moving around the patio area.
Next was washing the black compound revealing a seemingly random pattern of reclaimed brick. Then the black compound is washed off leaving a grey color that perfectly mimics grout and imperfections in the indentations.
    The last step was done in two parts- two applications of protective sealer that give the and quot;brickand quot; a finished looked that can't be beat. The reaction of everyone that has seen the patio is and quot;That can't be concrete!and quot;
This was a most pleasurable experience from beginning to end. Steve is very personable and takes time to chat. He was always right on time and on budget. The work he and his crew do is akin to art. I highly recommend Steve for this and any other construction needs that he specializes in.
$5,000 might seem pricy until he see the process first hand and then the results.

    Basement Waterproofing Solutions
We bought our house in 2011 as is with some slight leakage in our unfinished basement.  Before we could get it fixed the hurricane came and flooded our basement with 2 feet of water.  We had a sump pit in our house but no sump pump.  The owners who built the house in 2004 had never needed a sump pump prior to that.  We purchased a pump to clear the water from our basement but never installed it into the existing pit.

We looked around this winter for contractors willing to waterproof our basement and we had a difficult time.  With some giving prices almost 3 times higher than Basement Waterproofing Solutions.  A lot of the waterproofing companies in the area give a hard sell and try to pressure you into purchasing on the spot.  We discovered Basement Waterproofing Solutions at the York, PA home show and the owner David was working at the table.  David had a very friendly demeanor and answered any questions we had.  Based on our dimensions he gave us a simple estimate at the show and explained his process.  Whereas all the other contractors bad mouthed each other and tried to pressure sell, David explained what they all had in common (they all drill weep holes and put in drainage for example, most offer guarantees should your basement have problems afterward) he even pointed out where some water proofer stands were at the show that we hadn't been to yet if we wanted to look around and see what they had to offer.

Based on this refreshing and honest exchange we felt like David was trustworthy and we asked him to come for an estimate.  Other contractors that came to give an estimate stayed for over 2 hours trying to sell products, David came, surveyed the basement and discussed what options we wanted and it all took no more than a half an hour.  He left and said he would type up an estimate and email it to me. He got the estimate to me the next day.

After liking his estimate and agreeing to hire him, David scheduled to come out within the week and let us know it would take about 2.5 to 3 days if everything went to plan.  His crew came out and were friendly and got right down to business.  A very nice feature is that they use a great air pressure system to push all the dust out of the basement windows and they seal off the basement door so that the dust doesn't get all over the place upstairs.

The first 2 days were great, it was a little bit loud but they were jackhammering at my foundation to dig the trenches so it wasn't anything unexpected.  The only hiccup in the process was that they were supposed to finish on a Saturday but their truck had a breakdown on the way over.  They called ahead of time and apologized and let me know what had happened and then scheduled to come out that Monday.  They arrived as promised and finished up their work.  The crew cleaned up very well and left our basement in great condition.

Originally I was slightly questioning of the need to get a second sump-pit put in but once the workers had drilled the weep holes in my wall a ton of water came leaking out of the cinder blocks exactly in the area that they had planned the second pit.  The area of my original pit had been bone dry so it showed the wisdom of putting in a new pit and gives me peace of mind that my basement is covered.

David came out to do an inspection of the crew's work and tidied up a few things that he noticed that I never would have spotted.  He also hooked up our de-humidifier to the sump pit for us while he was there.

We just settled up on the bill today and it was exactly as promised in the estimate and darn near exact what he estimated while at the home show before coming out to the house.  This is a man that stands behind his work and gives a fair price and sticks with it.  After talking to a lot of the other water proofers in the area I am happy to have bumped into David at the home show.

We now have a very dry basement that has drainage from every angle as well as a transferable certification from David that we can provide to any new homeowners should we sell to them and they have problems with the basement leaking.

Thank you to David and his team from Basement Waterproofing Solutions for a great refreshingly  honest experience.

    Your Remodeling Guys
We should have looked at Angie's list first.  We saw this company at the York, PA Home Show.  Their representative at the show was friendly and explained that they had a deal for homeowners who want to finish their basements in the future.  According to the representative they have a free estimate and then provide you with drawings and CAD visuals for several options that you get to keep for when you are ready to finish your basement.  We signed up because we felt like that was perfect for what we wanted.
    1.  My wife had to reschedule the appointment from a Tuesday to a Wednesday.  No representative showed up but when I called they were helpful and apologized that our appointment didn't make it into their system. They re-scheduled for Thursday.
    2.  A salesman arrived and stated that he just flew in from out of town and was dishevled and disorganized.  He measured our basement and started talking about waterproofing.  We explained that we wouldn't need waterproofing as we were getting that done fairly soon.  The rest of the visit he kept explaining about their waterproofing and how it could be included in the package.
    3.  He started trying to sell us on the Parade of Homes by telling us a slot had just opened when a customer's husband had died and she needed to back out.  He called his office a few times and quoted us at 37K for waterproofing, an egress, and finishing 700 square feet.  He then said that if we agreed to the parade of homes that day he could nock 10 thousand dollars off the price but we had to agree that evening to finish our basement because he had multiple people the next day who would jump on the offer.
    4.  We said that we weren't interested in the parade of homes because we weren't ready to finish our basement right away but were interested in the other packaging they advertised at the home show which was for the drawings and options for when we are ready.  The salesman started packing his things and said that he would have a blueprint on file at his office for when we called to finish our basement.  We explained what their representative told us about the drawings and options and he said that must be new but he hadn't heard of that and then took my email saying he could email me a cad drawing and left.
    5.  When I checked Angie's list after he left I found a review from 2010 where they had a salesrep say that they had a parade of homes opening because the former person's husband had died but they needed to sign up right away.  This company LIED about  DEATH in order to coerce us into doing business with them AFTER WE HAD ALREADY SOUGHT THEM OUT.  That or both myself and the reviewer from 2010 timed our calls perfectly to coincide with ladies having to back out of the homeshow because their husbands died.
