    Elite Flooring Installations
Absolutely beautiful. Taariyq and crew were professional and got the job done as promised before our Thanksgiving guests arrived. The process of setting up the visit and estimate was completely painless, and we loved the flooring options he gave us. We love our new kitchen floor! It was a real pleasure doing business with Elite Flooring Installations and I absolutely would recommend them to anyone.

    Executive Builders, Remodelers
We really liked the sales person we met with. He was very friendly and seemed very knowledgeable, and he was on time. We realized after the estimate that the entire project we wanted was outside of our budget, so we decided just to focus on the floors.
The kitchen/dining room project was estimated to cost about $4,000, which seemed average compared to other estimates we received.
The flooring project was estimated at about $5,000 for a "nice laminate."
I was trying to get the flooring done before we moved into the house, and my follow up questions regarding what sort of budget allowance included "nice laminate" (and other questions) went unanswered. Our correspondence was via email.
I decided to go with hardwood floor for about $1,500 more with another company who's communication was better. I had a small window of time to work within, and though we understood the project might not be done before we moved in, we wanted it done as soon as possible, and at the very least to get the ball rolling and keep it moving, so to speak.
I would give Executive Builders another shot with the remodeling project, though. I liked that they had all of their licenses and bonding, etc. in order. And I also appreciated the itemized estimate that I received. And again, the salesman we spoke with seemed to know what he was doing. I think we caught them during a particularly busy time.

    Floors USA
I had a very good experience with the people I met at the store, Floors USA. I worked with two Mikes.
    Mike in Sales:
Knew his products very well and was able to help us find something that met our needs within our budget. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and was not pushy. He understood what a big purchase we were making and didn't try to force us into making any decisions, which was great. I was able to reach him easily by phone, which was also a huge plus. He answered all of my many questions in a professional and courteous manner. I would definitely work with him again.
    Mike in Installation:
Came to my house and took measurements, and made thoughtful suggestions, which I really appreciated. I felt like he knew what he was doing, and I appreciated his knowledge.
So why doesn't Floors USA receive excellent ratings from me, and only Fair?
Well, the people who actually installed the floors were not as great as either of the Mikes. Mike from installation did not oversee the project on site. I assumed that he would, but I did not ask, so that was my fault. However, if I hadn't been hovering over them, there would have been a number of (big!) mistakes. What was supposed to happen is that the installers were to remove carpet, lay down new plywood over asbestos tile (which was under the carpet) as to encapsulate it, and install molding.
    List of Wrongs:
The first thing that went wrong was that nobody introduced themselves as the leader of the project, so I never knew who to talk to in regards to what was happening. Then they began taking up the tile as well as the carpet. I told the guys that they weren't supposed to do that, but they tried to tell me why they needed to. So I asked them to stop, and I was going to call Mike to find out. One of them also phoned Mike (got through to him before I did), and when I spoke with him, Mike told me that he told the guys to put the tile back and it was to be covered with plywood. Next thing that happened is that they were installing on a very rainy day and allowed the 1/4" plywood to get wet. I called Mike again to ask if this was ok. Such thin plywood is surely in danger of warping, right? He told me that it shouldn't be a problem, but he would make sure to tell the guys to bring all of the plywood inside so that it wouldn't be rained on, which he did. Next problem, they began laying the hardwood floor down in the wrong direction! They didn't bother to check the floor joists, they just assumed that it was to match the direction of the crappy laminate in the kitchen. Again, I made them stop, told them they were doing it wrong, insisted they look at the joists in the crawl space, which they did, and then they thanked me for noticing. By this point I was becoming really unnerved, because they were obviously making assumptions, and who knows what other shortcuts they were doing. So they ruined about half a box of hardwood. They had to rip it up, which was painful to watch! And then, they didn't take the time to measure the metal heater covers (I have built-in radiators, so they have covers that are screwed into the wall) before they took the covers off, so when it came time for them to put the baseboard trim on, they had to guess since I needed to have the covers cut after the new floor was put down (kind of like doors, the covers also needed to be trimmed because of the new floor height). They stayed until about 8pm, and my nerves were shot by that point, so I just wanted them gone, and took their word for what the moisture meter said. In retrospect, I wish I had made them show me what it read, because frankly I don't believe them. It was such a rainy day, and they put down damp plywood.
And, needless to say, after I had the covers trimmed, they did not fit. So I had to call and ask them to come back to fix the baseboards. They did a mediocre job of this, and told me that it couldn't be perfect. However, if they had simply taken the time in the beginning to measure the covers before they took them off, this could have easily been avoided, and they wouldn't look so hacked at.
They made a lot of really stupid mistakes that could have easily been avoided with care, and I'm still uneasy about the damp plywood.
So would I use them again? Well, sort of. I would definitely go to their show room, and I would certainly work with Mike again, and I would probably buy their product, but I would NOT have them install it. I would hire someone else to do the installation. If I had not had them install anything, I would have given them Excellent ratings.

    OWEN POWELL
Owen has been working for me for 25 years. He has done exterior painting (whole house) and carpentry (rebuilding a porch.) Also interior work - replacing kIitchen and bathroom floors and also recommending a plumber to replace bathroom fixtures.I would not hire him if I didn't like his work and work ethic. He is eager to please and always mindful of cost - often making suggestions as to how to reduce costs. He finishes the jobs on time and always carefully cleans up when the job is done. I have recommended him to others and from what I hear from them, they are also pleased with his work.

    Just Us Girls
This is just the latest in a series of miracles Deb and her talented crew have performed for us in recent years, since about 2008. in addition to this deck repainting and repair just finished, there are many other great projects from this crew. We have had an ugly drop ceiling replaced with new sheet rock and immaculate paint, our wallpaper removal project in the upstairs bathroom was rescued and made perfect, hallway and bedroom ceilings were painted to perfection. I think she is more than fair on estimates, always does what it takes to get the job done, stands behind her estimates, and always manages to do a beautiful job. Last spring our basement flooded and for a very reasonable estimate, her crew took the time to haul so much damaged stuff out - in the rain- that we were able to clear away years of debris and get several coats of sealer paint as well. Their carpenter, Rose, can do anything, so we have had laminate flooring put in an office, installed stone floor tiles in the kitchen, and all kinds of fix-ups and extras for a fraction of what others wanted to charge. This is funny to admit, but Just Us Girls has just one weakness. I suspect they may tend to undercharge for all the labor and effort, because every time I get another company's estimate, it is ridiculously out of line. Hoping Just Us Girls is in business for many years to come! Now that I am out and enjoying my new deck, this is so amazing I called Deb and offered to join Angie's List in order to give her the credit. Deb's artist eye and eagle eye are a great combination for getting the job done. Congrats to Just Us Girls!

    Just Us Girls
Just Us Girls specializing in painting, and they really excel at that. Their price and workmanship is superb. They have also in the past done other home repair services for us through a variety of subcontractors including floor installation (wood and tile), and electrical.

Some of the subcontractor experiences have been uneven, especially in cleanup as one report mentioned. The B grades are mainly for some of those subcontractor experiences. But Deb of Just Us Girls is extremely responsive and always willing to make sure the customer is happy, and to address any issues that come up and come to a satisfactory solution. I give her A's for price, punctuality and responsiveness. She is always our first choice.
