    Chimney Cricket was very responsive when we first called. The person who came to clean and inspect the chimney was very professional. I was very pleased at that point. They even came quickly to install the new liner. And since the air is much cleaner, I can only assume that they did an adequate job on this. However no one called as we requested to let us know that the technician was here so my husband could run home (they could access from garage), they left no paperwork to let us know what they did, our garage door handle broke off and they just left it there and made no mention of it to us. When later I called to ask for paperwork and a receipt I was told that they could not process my credit card for 2 weeks (which means that my credit card info would be sitting on someone's desk for 2 weeks). The bookkeeper also told me "There is only so much I can do" something that should be said to a boss, not a customer. After 2 weeks I had to call again and ask for the warranty and paperwork regarding this $1,700 liner. I finally received the warranty after 3 weeks. And during all this we called and asked to speak to the owner who never called us back. I actually think they do a good job but I want someone who is easier to deal with.

    Great job. The called to see if they could come an hour earlier. Upon arrival they covered their shoes with booties. Glenn even went on the roof to check the chimney and cap. I am very pleased with a job well done.

    Quick, clean and knowledgeable.  After sweeping the chimney, the technician explained that my damper wasn't functionning properly.  I didn't know it was stuck - the technician explained the problem and fixed it without any upcharge.  It was a simple fix, but I would not have known there was a problem if he hadn't told me.  Another chimney sweep did not offer to fix it some years earlier - nor mention that it was stuck.

    Charles & Matt were prompt and performed the work professionally. Charles explained what and why we needed the work and answered our questions to our satisfaction. He is very knowledgeable and customer focused.

    We couldn't be happier with the work that John did. Our damper was broken, so we asked him about replacing it with a top-mounted damper. He gave us the pros and cons of doing that (versus a traditional damper), and we decided to go with that. He swept out the chimney first and did an extremely thorough job (he made sure to show us the "before" and "after" and it was obvious how much cleaner it was when he was done). He also had his shop vac going the whole time so as not to get the living room dirty. Then he installed the top-mounted damper, complete with a chain that hooks onto the side of the chimney. He showed us how to use it; you could hear the damper sealing as we lifted it up and down. Then he had us go outside while he lifted it up and down himself and showed us how to operate it. We've had it for about two months now and have had no issues with it with all the winter weather. We've also noticed that the living room is slightly warmer with the chimney properly sealed. All while he was working, John was telling stories and cracking jokes and giving his recommendations for different restaurants and service providers in the area. We'll definitely be using him again the next time we need to get our chimney swept!

    Called on the appointed day, then arrived on time. Job completed in 1/2 an hour, with no mess in living area. Provider claimed that he used a camera to inspect the chimney, thus avoiding going onto the roof.

    I called to get a quote, call it was returned two days later.  The reason I decided to call them was the great reviews and it looked like they did do small jobs under $500.00. The person was polite and apologized  for not  promptly returning my call.  He explained that there would be an $85.00 fee for an estimate but it would be returned if I did  ALL the work they recommended AND the cost was over $500.00.  No matter how great the reviews, I will never work with a company that mandates terms like that.  They must be so busy that they really don't want any business.

    Kept saying "I need to verify your address"?  They kept telling me I was filling out the paperwork incorrectly and that my address was incorrect.  Their receptionist was saying that she has never talked to me before, and now they are saying they don't service my area.  This was the worst $99 I have spent in my life and I would NOT recommend this company to anyone.

    I had called and spoke to an office manager at Colonial Way Services on three different occasions regarding the address, and scheduled two additional appointments after they missed the first one. They did not show up to any of the appointments. To blame it on Angie's List is not right.

    should have known that he was trouble when he asked for payment before he even started working.  He left without giving me a chance to look at his work.  I called immediately and requested that he fix what was incomplete, and he said that he would.  After months and months of delays, I turned to a consumer affairs.  He also stopped responding to them.  I would also suggest do a background check on anyone that works on your property

    I requested John to come out to inspect the chimney as we are new to the house and had never used it.  Upon arrival John was upfront and honest stating he had just been to the house a few months prior to clean the chimney for the previous owner.  He had recommended installation of two chimney caps then to the owner but he decided against it, most likely due to cost.  I agreed and he very quickly installed both caps.  It was overall a pleasant experience and I would use John again for any chimney services.
