    I contacted GE after noticing the water dispenser was not working on my refigerator. It should be noted that the ice maker was working as usual at the time of this incident. It was only the water dispenser that was not working.I tried several online suggestions that were unsuccessful before calling to schedule a repair. My appliances are approximately 8 years old so the warranty was expired. GE referred me to A & E Factory Service. They explained that the service call would be no charge if after it was diagnosed that I allowed them to fix it. If they diagnosed it & I chose to use another company then A & E Factory Service would charge a $75 service call. I agreed. A & E Factory Service then scheduled an appointment on April 9, 2012 between the hours of 7am & Noon. They were provided a home phone contact number. At approximately 10am (3 hours of waiting) they called the residence to tell us they would no be able to be there by noon. I called them back & asked what time they could be at my house. They said between 12:30 & 1:30. I said I had to go to work & that I could have someone here by 2:00 pm to continue to wait. I asked them to call my CELL NUMBER if they arrived early because I might be able to get a neighbor to let them in to do the repairs if it was before 2:00. When my wife got home at 1:30 she listened to voicemail on the HOME PHONE saying they were here & waiting for us. Once they got no response they left. They did not call the correct number nor did they try an alternate number that was provided. They made us waste an entire day for nothing. I contacted GE who said it was not them & they could do nothing. I explained to GE that when you call A & E Factory Service it is an answering service who only provide a repair date & then pass the info along to a repair man. GE said they always talk to a person when they call. I explained yes it is a person but it is similar to Dell in that when you call them it is also a person but the person is in India. GE still could not help me. They referred me to the 800 number for A & E Factory Service. I contacted them again & when the issue was not resolved they passed me off to another department called Conflict Resolution or something like that. This department does nothing to resolve anything other than reschedule the appointment. I specifically asked what they can do other than reschedule the appointment & she told me nothing & that's all they can do. She asked what I wanted &I told her I really don't want much other than a discount on the repair to cover the missed day of work. I said another option is for them to diagnose the problem & allow me to chose who I want to repair it w/out being charged the $75 service call. Conflict resolution told me that they cannot give me money. I explained I don't want money. I only want to not be charged the service call regardless who I chose to make the repairs. Again she told me that was not an option. I explained to her many people were inconvinced by the lack of punctuality by A & E Factory Service & their 5 hour repair window as well as their lack of attention to detail when they could not follow simple instructions on who to contact upon arrival. Despite being late, a phone call to the number provided would have allowed them access to the house so that the job could've been completed.
