Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of Pittsburgh
They room they finally built was very nice, however, the entire process was a nightmare.  We started the process in august, however the work never began until December. The problems started after the first visit.  The salesman gave us a price and a drawing of the dimensions of the room.  Then I received a call from the building manager and he said there was a problem with the design and it couldn't be built as specified. At that point it was redone and was going to cost us more money.  After that, there was a problem with the roof.  and they said that would cost more money.  At that point I said I was ready to cancel the whole deal, and after contacting the owner, he agreed to put on a whole new roof for free.  i agreed, and the work was suppose to start.. there were several delays as I was told that they were backed up.  They finally called two days before they were going to start which was the middle of December.  I asked how long it was going to take and if it would be done before Christmas.  i was told it would be done before then.  I asked several times as we have alot of company over Christmas and didn't want an unfinished room.  I even said I'd be willing to wait if they couldn't be sure it would be done.  No, they said it would.  The first crew that came out were sub contractors because they were backed up.  They started the room.  Although the two men were nice, they were never on time, never told me when they were coming, and never called if they weren't coming.  After 2 weeks, they said that they would not be back as they had another job to start in another state.  I called the company to see when the work was going to be done.  several days later a second crew came out and had to fix several things the first crew did.   It was one thing after another.  Needless to say the work was not completed by Christmas.  It was into January when the work was finally done.  they left an open hole inside that they said they were not going to fix.  I contacted the company, and got the run around.  calls were not returned, I had to continually call back.  finally the salesman came out and said they would credit us some money and my husband could do the work.  As for my windows, they were suppose to be in by October, but someone dropped the ball and forgot to order them.  They were not installed until middle of january.  Finally the room was finished. In March, after a rain I discovered that the roof was leaking.  I called and complained and they sent someone out.  Another guy had to come out to fix it, as the roof was not correctly.  the nails were coming out of the shingle and had to be replaced.   they had to replace almost half of the shingles.  The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.  They were difficult to get ahold of, didn't return phone calls and I never knew if and when anyone was coming out, and if they didnt no one ever called to cancel.  Very poor customer service.

    Eagle-Eye Home Improvement LLC
We hired Bill Franciscus (Eagle-Eye Home Improvement) to frame in our front porch. We also had him pour two concrete walkways with a connecting curb so as to have a rock garden island between them. This was not a textbook project and required some structural considerations regarding the condition of the front porch.
The front porch was a concrete slab that was also the front half of the garage roof. The kitchen extended across the back half of the concrete slab (garage roof). The porch section of the concrete slab was in really bad shape and needed removed. It was a challenging  task to cut out half of the concrete slab without disturbing the kitchen.
Bill looked at the porch and described in detail how he would do the project from materials, structural concerns (supports), and methods. He answered all of our questions with great detail. Bill spent time listening and learning what we wanted and had a few suggestions based on aesthetics and construction.
We received our quote in a reasonable amount of time. He gave us a minimum and maximum cost for best and worse case scenarios. This was based on possible problems that could arise after the demolition of the concrete slab. Bill will tell you that he is not the cheapest contractor (nor the most expensive). I found his quote to be very reasonable for the amount of work the job required.
I had the impression that Bill was a trustworthy, honest person when I first met him. His knowledge of construction made him more than qualified so we accepted his bid.
The first day of work Bill cut out the concrete. The cut was smooth and flush with the front wall of the kitchen. The remaining concrete slab and the top courses of the cinder block walls were fully intact and undamaged. An I-beam was added to support the front edge of the remaining concrete slab. He made a difficult job look effortless.
The rest of the construction included framing in walls, siding, concrete, etc... Bill was meticulous at each step of the project. Framing was straight, square, and built strong. He took into consideration that we were going to have ductwork run into the room and ran the joists to accommodate that.
During the project, Bill and his crew were very respectful of our home. The work area was cleaned up each day when they were done. He ran the project from start to finish. Anything Bill said he would do, he did. If he saw something during the project to make the end result better, he would do it (usually calling to verify first).
Bill has an excellent eye for seeing the smallest details as well as seeing the aesthetic appeal of the final project. He was meticulous in every aspect of the job. His concern from start to finish was that we were going to be very happy with the end product. He took great pride in the quality of his workmanship as well as with the appearance of the completed project. Bill was just as happy watching our reaction to the completed job as we were with how amazing the front of our house now looks.
I can not say enough good things about Bill. He was excellent to work with from start to finish.
