    Marich Landscaping & Excavating LLC
Terry and his crew showed up on time and did a fantastic job. There were a couple unforeseen hurdles along the way which they handled with ease. Great communication and fair pricing. I would use them again.

    G & J Waterproofing
The crew showed up on a Tuesday to install an interior french drain system in my finished basement.  Due to the drywall being up they had to cut the drywall and the studs in order to access the footer to install the french drain.  They installed the entire drainage system in 2 days and came back on the third day to cement it in.  They also agreed to come back to replace the wood studs that they had to cut in order to install the drain.  They were very professional and did a great job.  I would recommend them to anyone.

    Masterful Surroundings LLC
They did a quality job. They owner and his team were prompt and efficient, and they were very neat. All debris from the old paneling, and was taken away, and they left the area neat and clean. The actual drywalling looks great! No seams or nail holes are visible. It is a professional job!

    A Preferred Restoration
I found Preferred Restoration to be an extremely professional and trustworthy company.  I was totally satisfied with the exceptional work they did for me during my basement remodel. I originally obtained their name from Angie's List along with two other construction companies.   Preferred Restoration (Joe Katzfey) by far gave the most detailed bid for the project. They had everything spelled out so there were never any questions on what we would be getting with the project and the cost associated.

I was told that a dumpster was needed during the demolition process. Due to space limitation they were the only ones to understand the situation and made arrangements for all debris to be removed via a truck.  This impressed  me and permitted me to access my garage without having a dumpster to navigate.

The workmen that were assigned to our basement remodel were exceptional, trustworthy and very professional. During the course of the remodel there were changes that needed to be made. There were never any issues in following our requested changes. Each day the lead workman assigned to our project would talk to my wife to let her know what was happening and if there was anything that she wanted changed or done. He would tell my wife what time he would be coming to work and he was always there on time. There were also times when my wife had to leave to do errands and we never had an issue with leaving the workmen alone in our home--extremely trustworthy and honest.

Preferred Restoration completed the remodel on time and at our budget number. I am extremely happy with the work that they did and would highly recommend them to my friends and relatives or anyone else who would require their service. As I always say you do not mind paying for something as long as you get a quality product. Preferred Restoration performed quality work and I would without a doubt have them do additional work for me.

    Watershield Sunshield Inc
John is outstanding. We contracted with him earlier in the year, had an emergency, and John promptly refunded our deposit. We engaged with him again in September of 2013. John said that his company was back-logged until November, but he agreed to do the job and completed it in under a month. Our basement is dry!
If you need your basement waterproofed, look no further and call Watershield Sunshield.

    The Basement Guys
The original sales call went well.  They showed a video of the process defined the benefits of their system;  Guaranteed not to mold seamless wall panels, no mess.  We signed up for their Showcase home and agreed to on call scheduling which requires us to be available at any time within 3 days, he said it would be within 12 weeks.  The salesman/consultant did a really nice design and showed us the product that would go on the wall.
Well they did call to schedule within the 12 weeks and the contractor showed up when scheduled.  The Contractor was very nice and professional and had some really good ideas. He is a sub contractor and not an employee of the company, that is apparently their model. The C rating for professionalism is for office staff and sales staff, the Sub-Contractor was very professional.
    The Good:
    - The contractor was punctual and flexible.  He knew his stuff.
He really did his best to remedy any issues, but some could not be remedied.
    - We have a mold guarantee, I hope they honor it if it's ever an issue.
    The Bad:
    - Apparently the product has been changed due to the covering on the panels falling off.  My wife questioned this and that is when he told us about the covering issue.  He assured us it was still mold proof and the lifetime mold guarantee was still good. The new material does not provide seam proof walls. it actually looks quite horrible at seams. I will upload pictures if allowed. The contractor came back multiple times to try to taper it in but it is still awful.  The contractor explained it is because these panels are not tapered like drywall and the mud builds up causing a bump at the seams.  He really tried to make it right.  It is just not possible with this product as is. Apparently a lot of their installers are complaining about this. We simply gave up because we got tired of cleaning up drywall compound dust, and realized that physics would not allow for this product to be seamless.
    - The process is not mess free.  their was drywall compound mud dust through our entire house for weeks.
    - The original design called for an open railing with spindles.  The contractor did open the wall a bit but it is solid and does not have that open feel.
    -  They never called back to schedule the showcase,  I assume because they know if people see it the result they will not buy from them.  I did get a call from someone in there office asking how things went and called back and left a voice mail stating the issues, and never heard back again.
In hindsight I wish we would have gone with traditional drywall and the quote we got for half the price. For what we have we overpaid. If it was seamless I would have been happy with the price.  However it looks horrible and is not worth any where near what was spent.

    Everdry Basement Waterproofing
We asked Everdry to provide a free estimate for putting in an exterior french drain around 75% of our property, waterproofing the exterior and repointing the cracked foundation. The first thing that turned us off is that they sent a sales rep to the job instead of an actual contractor who would be on site performing the work. Another man showed up a few minutes later who said that he was a former sales rep but now seems to be a project manager. My boyfriend has a background in construction and engineering, so he walked them through what he wanted done from top to bottom, explaining in detail the process in which it took for it to be done and his expectations. This took about 1.5 hours. After my boyfriend thoroughly explained what we wanted done and showed his knowledge of the process, they proceeded to take us back to the kitchen to go through a 2and quot; binder of material that we basically had already talked through at the walkthrough, pushing their special system that they created with NASA, instead of taking our word for what we wanted done (an external french drain, dug all the way to the footer of the house and waterproofing the outside and repointing the larger cracks). Their system included them only digging down 18and quot; on the extrerior drain and putting an internal french drain in the basement. We specifically said multiple times that we did not want an internal system in the house, as the whole point of waterproofing the basement is to keep water OUT of the basement altogether. We realized that it would cost more, but were willing to pay more to get the job done right. They proceeded to go through this binder, trying to scare us with images of mold and houses with caved in foundations, when all we really wanted them to do was to acknowledge our wants and determine if they could take on the job. They kept insisting that water could still get in through the floor if we put in just the exterior french drain, and we acknowledged that that was a change we were willing to take, as we do not currently have any issues with water coming in through the floor, as it comes in through the walls. After an hour of this they finally quoted us a price ($32,000 for the extermal french drain...yeah, right...and $18,000 for their special and quot;NASAand quot; system). I'm sure they put such an outrageous number on the external french drain to convince us to do their system, but that is not what we want.
Long story short, they were nice guys, but we felt a bit insulted and annoyed that after 1.5 hours of my boyfriend explaining to them the in's and out's of french drains, home building, etc, that they still went through their sales pitch for an hour of things we already knew and had shown to them that we knew. We had other contractors (actual guys who do the work themselves) come to the house and speak to us and in 30 minutes agreed with our plan of attack and did not give us any sales pitch. One even said outright that he would be stupid to push any homeowner into somethign they didn't want after they went into so much detail. We accepted a quote for what we wanted from another company (for $14,800 - less than HALF of what Everdry charged) and they quoted the special and quot;NASAand quot; system as everdry for $7000..again, less than half the cost (and they dug down below the freeze/thaw line).
In our minds, if NASA had the same issues that we have at our house they would want the same things that we do. That sales pitch may work on people who have no idea what they need to have done, or if they need a quick fix, but not on people who have the knowledge to back it up. I think that Everydry should stop over-selling and start listening to their customers. If it was something they couldn't or didn't want to do, then I wish they would've have wasted 3 hours of our time.

    Everyone's Handyman and Remodeling Expert
To call his work an awesome job done is not even describing the excellent work Gene and his brother did in my house - I am truly amazed and can confirm he can handle any job - it will look perfect after he's done. He chose the stain for the floors and has great taste . I can only thank him for keeping up with my crazy color selection - all in 10 rooms every one of them in a different color (and the ceilings also in a lighter tone) . This was a long list of things to do and repair and I could not have had a better company taking care of everything.
Looking forward to next year probably November for some more projects I am going to have for Gene.
