  • It went very, very well! I used a hard stop move with 3 movers and a 26 foot truck for 6 Hours. The movers were on time and worked hard and efficiently. The truck could have been packed better to get more stuff on it but the guys helped us move any remaining items downstairs for us to move ourselves. We came in under time which meant under estimate. Very pleased with the experience. Nothing was damaged or broken and care was taken with walls. Highly recommend.

  • Being ex-military, I have moved a lot. This was easily the best move we've had. Appropriate care was taken at every step during packing and loading - used a team of 6 (!) packers so they didn't have to be at our house for 12 hrs. 4 of them made the trip in the trucks to DC so that they were familiar with the items and knew where (living rm, bedroom, etc) they generally went - made unloading noticeably smoother. They showed up when they said they would (at both ends), cleaned up thoroughly, verified all items were delivered, assembled things as required/requested, and charged me what they said they would charge me (despite several last minute changes to what was going in the trucks with them). The charges were very reasonable for the load size and distance travelled. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service and would recommend them for any move you may have.

  • I called Make Moves on 2/1/16 and explained that I needed to move that week.  Matt scheduled the move for 2/5/16 which was great.  He estimated the cost and mileage based on my inventory of the furniture.  The movers called the morning of 2/5/16 to confirm the move and to let me know that they were on their way.  The two movers, John and Armond were very professional and friendly.  They first walked through the house to determine the best way to load their truck.  My furniture was very heavy and they were very careful.  When I bought my couches the delivery men had a difficult time getting the couches through the door but John and Armond didn't have any problems. 


    I also requested to have a few pieces of furniture delivered to another house before taking the other furniture to a storage facility.  Throughout the entire move both men accommodated any request that I had.  When I'm ready to move my furniture again I will surely use Make Moves and if possible request John and Armond again!

  • I started by filling out their online form for a quote, which included filling out specific details about the move. They called me the same day to review, and to expand upon the information I provided. I received a quote the same day, and decided to use them. 
    On the day of the move, they called me before arriving, and showed up within 15 minutes of the start time. The crew of four was professional and had fun with the move. They were able to get our move done within 1/2 hour of the quoted time.
    They treated our belongings with an appropriate amount of care, worked hard, and moved quickly. I would gladly use them again.

  • I had a Horrible experience with is company. First, I would like to say that I have moved several times with other companys and never had issues with damage. This company destroyed ALOT of my furniture. Huge gouges, scratches, torn speaker, springs sticking out of couch cushion. That's just naming few! I actually had to write a report listing all the damage with pictures. Obviously the damage was caused due to not protecting the furniture which was part of the contract. Several door jambs we're gouged as well, to match the scratches in our bedroom furniture sets, at the house we are selling. Again, no cardboard protection was used which should have been part of the contract. I even confronted the young men during the move and said look what you are doing to my furniture and to please slow down, take your time & pay attention. I even called the salesperson they sent out and she felt bad, but she said there is nothing I could do. I also called the main office as well, with no help. Very poor management. They do not want to deal with the problem. I have tried countless times to settle with this company. All I want is for them to pay the repair bill for what they destroyed, due to breaking contract and not protecting my furniture. They simply passed me off to the claims department. This is an ongoing process that seems to be never ending. This nightmare is still not over! Very disappointed with this company. I do not recommend this company!

  • That experience was average.  The people were very nice.  They were very hard to get it scheduled, so that was hard.  They were very careful with all of my things and they packed everything quite tightly as far as quality of work.  I was very happy their work and what they did.  But when I submitted what I actually had to move, the minister reassured me that there will be more than enough time to pick up everything that was in my house and move it in my new home, that did not happen.  I had to pay for extra time and I also had to go back for an additional trip.  However, the people were professional.  They were very careful with my things.  But their time management and scheduling is an opportunity for them to get better.   

    They honored the $99 deal but I had to pay for additional hours.   I paid $150 for the moving truck as well as $50 or $60 for additional time.

  • It went wonderfully, the men were courteous, clean, respectful of us and the property around us. It took two days to move two separate homes into one new home. The move really was perfect and we were able to converse and laugh with them the entire time. The one gentleman, Mark, did everything we asked and never once did he not smile when doing it.
    I am calling them the next time we move because there are no better movers out there.

  • We did a local move from two different locations into a single location.  South Hills movers quote was a little higher than the other moving companies, but their moving time frame seemed to be better than the others and they also offered to box our new mattresses.  The salesperson Ron Martin came to my town home and reviewed all the items that we needed to be moved.  He came with a laptop and typed in what was going and not going. He also offered to box the mattresses which is extra and then he sat down so that I could provide him with a list of the items in the storage unit so that we could get a more accurate estimate for the move.  He explained that a two day move would be better; one day for the town home and the next day for the storage unit.  We liked this set up better.  He said that it would be less stressful on us and the movers, hence the higher price for the transportation cost for them to drive up here two times.  But, it was worth it.  We were very glad to have done it in 2 days as opposed to all in one, which the other companies had offered for a slightly lower price.  Otherwise the actual moving cost was comparable to the other companies I received estimates from.  My only complaint would be that Ron's actual assistant Bonnie was out of town, but her replacement who explained everything to me asked that I send the documents to Bonnie via email.  However, I never heard from Bonnie.  I needed to follow up with Bonnie and she was able to check that she had everything and all was good.  I must say that Kelley was great throughout the move by checking with us during the move that the movers were doing a good job and if we had any problems or questions.  My only other complaint would be that Ron didn't know that the movers carry rolls of plastic to cover the stairs.  I wish I had known that info so that I wouldn't have worried so much before the move since we put down new carpeting on the stairs.  
    For the actual moves, Joe the driver was great.  They arrived between 8:30 and 9:00.  He went through the town home and looked at what needed to be moved and he and his crew worked so well.  Despite the fact there was snow and ice everywhere they did a great job protecting my floors and carpeting with the roll plastic that sticks to the carpeting so no one would trip.  They also had a system where 2 men only worked outside and the other 2 worked inside in order to keep the floors extra clean, even though they had plastic, pads and cardboard down on the tile, wood and carpeting.  Joe even saved us some money, by saying that he could wrap our mattresses in plastic would was better than the boxes since it was snowing during the move.  I really appreciate the movers knowledge of moving and knowing what would be better for us based on the weather conditions.  By wrapping the mattresses in plastic saved us some money since we didn't have to pay for boxing them.  All our furniture arrived and was placed exactly where we needed it and they even helped us fix a swiveling rocker that we wanted to swivel again.  The next day was the storage unit move and the men worked very well moving out items that were stacked from top to bottom.  They worked meticulously considering how cold it was.  All the boxes and furniture arrived safely into our home and without any trouble they were able to place everything where we wanted it to go.  Joe and his partner were very professional and took pride in their job.  We have moved 5 times in 10 years and this was our best move yet.  Also, the actual moving cost came in less than the estimate, which of course made us very happy.  We got the best movers for a great price!

  • The move was scheduled for the exact dates that I desired.  On day 1 a crew arrived at approximately 9:30AM to pack.  They were fast and efficient.  I was amazed at how quickly they worked, finishing the packing in approximately 4-5 hours.  They packed whatever I requested, and left all areas that I'd deemed 'off limits' alone, allowing me to keep important items safely tucked away and undisturbed.
    On day 2 the truck and crew arrived by 9AM and the loading process began.  They were careful with navigating narrow turns in the halls and the stairs leading out of the apartment building.  Once the truck was loaded, they did a walk through with me to be sure they hadn't missed anything.  Even during the loading they inquired about certain things as to whether or not I wanted them to be loaded or not.  The immediately drove the truck to my house and began to unload, placing each and every item where I wanted it, even adjusting locations as needed.  All furniture was reassembled.
    They were personable, friendly and again, quick.  Nothing was broken, no walls were marked up, and my only 'issue' was that after it was all said and done, I did find a few (very few) minor (very minor) rubs/scrapes on a few items -- but to be fair, it is possible that some of these were pre-existing that I had not noticed before.  It is ONLY for this reason that the quality grade is a B and not an A.
    My final cost was approximately $600 below the initial estimate.  I was VERY pleased.
