Lighting Installation reviews in Macungie

  • We now have the most beautiful kitchen that I have ever seen! The folks at ABE Remodeling took our ideas about what we wanted in a kitchen and made them even better. The one gentleman who did most of the work in the kitchen was very courteous and professional, but mostly SMART. It seems that he was always thinking about how things should work, how they should look, etc., even when he went home at night. He was such a wonderful craftsman. Check out the photo of the wrap, bag & cutting board holder that he created for the back of a door in our kitchen - all of the women that I know are so jealous of me! Additionally, the shower tile is beautiful too. And on top of all that, we felt that Tim at ABE was honest and trustworthy. We wouldn't hesitate to call ABE Remodeling in the future for any work that we needed in our home.

  • I had reached out to another contractor and paid $40 for a ridiculously high estimate. Contacted JL and was told I would only pay for the time the job took and he gave me a very reasonable ball park estimate over the phone. They did a great job installing my ceiling fan and re-wiring the switch. They also fixed a few other minor things and gave me some tips to troubleshoot an issue I'm having with my pool light. Very reasonable prices, great work, and quick response time. I have found my contractor for any future electrical work.

  • Jamey was great to work with. He was punctual, took the time to answer my numerous emails, and explained exactly what I needed to purchase with the kitchen light, bathroom exhaust fan and timer. I am very satisfied with the results and highly recommend JL Electric.

  • We just moved into house a little over two weeks ago and discovered numerous electrical problems.  I called him and explained our situation and he came out in two days and did all the work we needed done.  He was very professional, and very knowledgeable.  His cost was very reasonable and I would definitely highly recommend him to other customers.  He will be our electrician for life.

  • Outstanding.  He coordinated with the insulation folks that were cleaning and insulating the attic so that once the correct floor boards were up, he was able to drop the 220V line for the upstairs dryer.  Also running the lines for the ceiling fan and whole house fan.  Mark did an excellent job under tough (hot) and attic insulation dirty conditions.

  • Joe was the consummate professional from start to finish. He and his very competent team finished the remodeling work over a period of several weeks with utmost attention to detail, while minimizing the disruption to the house. Since the work involved multiple contractors, Joe volunteered to coordinate with others, which significantly streamlined the scheduling process. When the work scope needed to change as a result of some unanticipated challenges, Joe provided thoughtful and cost-effective ideas to solve the problems. He and his team went above and beyond the agreed-to scope of work to ensure that the work was done right. Throughout the process, Joe was in constant communication, seeking opinion and giving feedback. Going into our first significant remodeling, we were concerned, having heard so many contractor horror stories, but it turned out to be a very welcome experience. Most importantly, the quality of work certainly even exceeded our high expectations.

  • My front outdoor lights suddenly stopped working. I didn't think to check the bulbs because I thought it would be strange that they both went out at the same time - but that's what it was. Just the bulbs. I did have a weak switch that was on it's last leg that they replaced so that they could actually do something for me. They also looked at a leak for me - not their area - but did it to be helpful. I appreciated their prompt response, professionalism and kindness. I am sad that they charge $100 - no matter what; but I probably should have asked him about service fees before he came. I will likely use them again in the event that I have a REAL problem and/or require electrical work. Very nice guys!

  • This is the second time in a few months we have used Anthony's services.  He was very responsive to my messages on Saturday and arrived Monday for our appt.  He quickly found a loose connection in the light portion of the ceiling fan instead of having to replace the entire thing.  He also quickly found the faulty switch and loose wiring for our hall lights and suggested replacing a second at only the cost of the switch since he was already there.  The first time we used Anthony he replaced a ceiling fan in a high ceiling bedroom but assured us the other old one was working just had to be tightened but we wanted to change things anyway.  He was very polite, prompt and cleaned up his mess.  I would definitely recommend him and will always call him first for electrical issues!

  • The communication for this job was lacking from the very start, although it appeared harmless in the beginning so we continued with our plans to have her do the work.  The very first miscommunication involved not having a completed estimate for us.  Minor. We continued on.  In the days leading up to the job, we began receiving odd questions and requests that indicated an unpreparedness for the work.  First she told us that we would have to provide the exterior lighting replacement fixture, again, we didn't see it as a big deal, my husband was going to head out to Home Depot with a picture of our others and figure out (hopefully) what we might need.  At one point, a few e-mails never came through, confirming the dates scheduled so I was contacting her to find out what was decided.  I never just don't get someone's (multiple) e-mails, but whatever, an honest mistake or a faulty e-mail server.  A few days later, she asked us to measure the thickness of our sheetrock and she didn't know the area of coverage for paint on the ceiling, because she didn't measure that either.  We measured and complied with what she needed.  Then I got an e-mail the day before the work was to be completed, she was at Home Depot "now" and she needed me to call her right then and there.  I didn't get this e-mail until 9pm that night, because I wasn't on my computer.  At 10pm I received yet another e-mail asking if our garage would be available for their truck.  We had just purged three rooms in our house and guess where it was all stored, in our garage. We could fit one car in there, but it would be a hazard to get through the other side to reach the entry door which was on the other side of the stored boxes and bags.  I told her we could move some things and park the truck right next to the open garage door and went to bed at 11pm.  The next morning we got a call an hour before the job was scheduled to start.  She told my husband that they had to post pone the work, because it was too cold and we didn't have room in the garage for their truck!!  Just for the record, it was snowing all day the day before the work was scheduled, it was no surprise that it was going to be "cold", the forecast was very clear about that.  Why I didn't find out about them needing the garage for their truck before 10pm the night before, is highly unprofessional and indicative of poor planning. Not to mention, she never said that this detail would make or break the job!  So that morning, my husband told her, he would clear room for them before they got there.  At that point, she told us she had already cut her guys loose.  It turns out, they had already scheduled other jobs and couldn't come after all.  I spent the entire day before the job was scheduled to be done clearing out our entire kitchen so it would be free of clutter where they were working (which would be directly over our stove, sink and island).  I pulled out all the things we could possibly need during the day so we could easily feed ourselves and our children while they were working.  Our children have severe food allergies and very restricted diets, so we made all three of their meals, plus ours, ahead of time in order to stay out of their way all day (it was going to take two days to complete the work according to her estimate and scheduling).  Thankfully my husband was home to take one of our sons to his extracurricular activities while I stayed home and prepared the house for their arrival the next day.  I used much of this time to clear out all of our Christmas decorations in the room that was adjacent (and open to) the kitchen, including a 10 foot grapevine tree so that the dust from the sheetrock wouldn't end up all over it and the ornaments.  Kerry told us "it was only a week"...this isn't about the delay in the work itself, we've lived with a hole in our ceiling (water damage prior) for months now so the week delay wasn't the problem, it's the significant lack of communication that ensued resulting in a whole lot of wasted work on our part, which would need to be repeated in order to have her complete the job another day next week, assuming she would be reliable enough to arrive.  This could have all been avoided.  She proved that she is unreliable and unprepared.   Had I known that the truck going into the garage was an essential piece to the job, we could have been prepared for it.  Oh and come to find out after talking with my husband, that she didn't even have the sprayer nozzle for the sink sprayer.  On the morning of the job, when she was canceling, she told him to get that for her too!  We have never had to provide all of these materials for a contractor before and to find out the morning of the job?  Really??  Kerry really seemed like a wonderful person, she spent a lot of time with us telling us how different she was from the competition and I am sure she means well, but her method of planning is sorely flawed.  Her reliability is unacceptable for a family like ours, we can't just be available for her to call us from Home Depot and run out to grab parts last minute, not to mention re-clearing out our kitchen and repairing 6 from-scratch-meals ahead of time.  She actually had the nerve to suggest that I could "live with the inconvenience for a week", that is why we plan ahead of time, so we don't have to live with an inconvenience for a week, for a job that will take two days.  Unbelievable.  Sweet woman, poor execution.  I truly hate to speak negatively about anyone, and I had such high hopes for her to be our go-to contractor, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but this was beyond disruptive to our family and so completely unnecessary.  We will be looking for another contractor.  At least our kitchen and family rooms are spotless now for the overnight guests we will be having in two days (sigh).
