    Bella Brothers Construction Inc
Tom, Arsan, Eric, and especially Danny (the main carpenter) were good to work with. All the work except painting was done in 3 weeks, 15 days. That was important for us, we didn't want it to drag out. Painting took 2 days, except there was some confusion about painting one window, so the painter had to come out one more morning for that. Tom (the owner/boss) is a nice guy/salesman as you plan out the kitchen, etc. He then turns hard-nosed once you get the work down in writing and the price agreed to, which I think is entirely appropriate. This was our first time hiring a contractor for a big job, so the big lesson for me is to really go over that itemized work order listing, and step through the whole process in your mind both at the showroom and at your house - you've got 3 days before it's finalized. The only disagreement we had was over painting a bay window, which wasn't explicitly listed. In the end Tom agreed to paint it since it was a fairly obvious thing that should have been done, and was a pretty small piece of work for us to be disagreeing about. Other items to note: certain cabinet options that we thought we were getting in the showroom turned out to be not available in the York cabinet line from Wolf. These were substituted to our satisfaction. On our side, they had us order some of the nonstandard cabinet organizers (woodworkers express has great prices FYI).
We took a vacation in the middle of the work. No problems. Danny fed our fish for us. As I said, Danny (and his helper, whose name I forgot) was very good, very professional work. I think Danny did all the plumbing, electrical, etc. The granite installers were separate, and Bella has their own painter who I didn't meet. They cleaned up each night, and were very polite on days when Grandma was home with our 4 year old (one day/week). They used plastic across all the doors, shop-vaced each night, etc. Personally, I went in and swabbed up sheet rock dust with damp cloths/mop during the first week, which I think really kept the dust down after the first week. Otherwise, it will float around your house for the full duration.
In terms of price... Bella came in with a competitive price during a pretty busy time of the year. We might have shaved say $5k off w one of those contractors that ends up taking 8 weeks to do the job, but I'm not so sure. Things add up pretty fast. Bella has a high volume I think, a couple different teams on different projects, etc. We got 2 other quotes, and they were the same ballpark, but they weren't very responsive even in generating the quote.
So, I'd recommend Bella Brothers, and would use them again.

    Rich's Rugs
Rich and his team were absolutely fantastic! Rich was amazing at communicating! He was always available to talk and arranged his schedule to come meet with us on a Monday evening to see the house and help us choose the padding and carpet. He and his team were there exactly when they said that they would be there. They were extremely dedicated and efficient, finishing the entire job in less than five hours. The price was exactly what Rich had said it would be, and he tried to help us save money in every way that he could. The carpets are beautiful, and we think of Rich's outstanding service each time that we walk on them!

It went well. They were running late due to the snow, but call ahead to let us know and arrived when they said they would. They brought 3 guys for the job, which seemed excessive, but still fell within the 3 hours requested. Good job overall.

    BQ Basement Systems Inc
This was a two day project.
Pulled up the edges of the carpet in the basement.
Ripped out the lower half of the wall sheet rock that had been stained by moisture.
Cut into the concrete along the edges of the walls and installed the drainage system.
Dug out the area to install the sump and installed the sump.
Installed the discharge pipes for the sump.
The workers (there were at least two at any given time) were very professional and courteous and explained everything. They did a pretty good job of covering up the remaining items in the basement to protect from all the dust that was produced.
They really knew what they were doing. E.g. Within an hour of arrival, the head installer discovered it would not be possible to place the discharge out the wall closest to the sump pump because of a concrete pad/patio that was just outside the wall. (The estimator had not noticed the concrete pad because it was covered by a deck). The estimator came to the job and discussed the problem with the installer and I. The installer came up with a plan B to run the discharge pipe along a wall and then out the wall at a different area. So they had enough expertise to make a change to the plan and they did not charge me extra for this, which was good.
Even with this unexpected problem, they completed the job in two days.
If I had to do it again, I would do a better job of covering things with plastic because the fine white dust got on everything that was not covered.
I had to have an electrician come in to install separate circuit for the sump pump. This is the Triple Safe: two separate outlets/circuits and a battery backup. They probably told me I would have to do this, but I forgot about it.

    The Tile Surgeons
The job was to take 5 days.  The first day the owner and a worker came out and laid out the tile design on the floor for us to review and approve.   The next morning we found out that the worker who was supposed to do the rest of job solo had broken his wrist and would not be able to work.  With only 3 days left, the owner came out with another worker and finished the job on time, working extra as necessary.  We have 18" tile and wanted it laid on the diagonal so the cuts were many and some difficult (fitting the tile around the rounded bottom step).  Everything was done beautifully and professionally.
Additionally, they laid tiles in such a way as to allow us to get upstairs.  They marked the tile to note which ones were installed or still drying.  We have two school-age boys so that was good.
The owner and the workers were professional, courteous and friendly.  We would definitely use them again.

Marsha helped me with my room. I knew what I wanted and she listened and guided me in the right direction. I purchased from the ground up. Area rug, sectional sofa, tables, lamps, and television console. She has a great 'eye' and helped me picked out the paint color for my room that just made everything look even better, if that was at all possible. In a few months, I will start my bedroom project with her. Lastick Furniture prices are discounted which I was happily surprised.

Ferrarini & Co. Kitchens & Interiors
Right off the bat, Ferrarini impressed us. After my initial call, Donna and Matt came out to our house, offered some ideas and really tried to get a feel for what we wanted.  Although they did not have the lowest price of the several contractors we interviewed, they were the only ones that really made the effort to follow-up with us.

When it came down to actually picking our materials (for us the most daunting task) they made the process so much easier mainly due to the fact that they have a new showroom that allowed us to pick all of our materials in a couple of hours instead of days or weeks.    They took our taste into account while also offering their own suggestions, which we appreciated.  In addition, they made a few recommendations on "upgrades" that gave us the best "bang for our buck"

Once the project had started, our main contractor, Mark, showed up every day (including a couple of Saturday's) until the job was finished. Within a day he had the entire kitchen gutted and he then started the process of completely building from scratch our new kitchen.  After the end of every day he thoroughly cleaned up his work area and made sure to keep us abreast of any issues.  He was a complete professional who worked tirelessly to completely transform our once tired, worn out space to a kitchen that has now become the envy of our friends and family.

We appreciated the fact that the Ferrarini team was very detail-oriented.  We never felt the need to second-guess what was being performed.  Our project manager, Jordan, updated us on a weekly basis as to the progress taking place and addressed any questions or concerns, promptly.  The few minor issues that did crop up (which were completely understandable given the scope of the job) were rectified immediately.

Overall, our experience with Donna and the team at Ferrarini was an A+.  The kitchen turned out better than we could have imagined!  We highly recommend this company for any kitchen and bathroom remodeling needs you might have.

    ISC LLC Remodeling
Ian responded to initial contact immediately and was able to schedule work for the following week. The crew arrived on time every day and were polite and professional at all times. They protected all the surfaces in our home with tarps and plastic sheeting throughout the process.  We were consulted often as to our choices in spacing, design and convenience.
The work was very well done and attention was paid to the small details. Quality materials were used and every effort was made to address all our needs and concerns.  The crew kept noise and dust to a minimum. The work site was cleaned up every day after work was completed and trash was promptly removed.  The work was completed in six and a half days.  The final product was exactly what we had wanted with some special considerations initiated by Ian.  We were extremely pleased with the work and would highly recommend the company to family and friends.

    Last Detail Custom Carpentry

Summary:  I cannot say enough good things about Gregg and the entire Last Detail Custom Carpentry (LDCC) crew.  Absolutely amazing.
As a result of a refrigerator leak while I was out of town, I had significant water damage throughout my first floor and finished basement.  All kitchen base cabinets were ruined, as was all the first floor flooring.  In the finished basement the ceiling collapsed, the bottom 2 feet of drywall was ruined, and the carpet and padding was ruined.  I called Last Detail (and several other contractors after meeting with the unreasonable and irrational insurance company representative.  Gregg from LDCC came over and assessed all the needed repairs.  He spent 2.5 months working with me (without a contract or signed commitment) helping me fight with my insurance company for the appropriate compensation.  With Gregg's expertise and input I was able to get the insurance company to issue a supplemental payment doubling their initial payment to me.  He was invaluable in getting the insurance company to properly cover the losses.

Once the work started Gregg and the entire LDCC crew continued to exceed all my expectations.  The work performed by the LDCC crew was absolutely amazing.  I am still in awe with how they transformed my house.  In addition to the high quality work they performed, the entire LDCC team was friendly, courtious and treated my house like their own.  The cleaned up the job site each day, asked for my input as they were working on items and patiently responded all my (sometimes stupid) questions.

This job required the use of numerous subcontractors (granite counters, wood flooring, carpet, painting, plumbing).  Gregg made sure he was onsite when each subcontractor started any work and would frequently check in to make sure he was satisfied with the work they were performing. The few times he was not satisfied he made them correct it until he was.  Throughout this entire project I felt that Gregg had my back.  One anecdote that demonstrates this:

I had initially selected a prefinished engineered wood floor product for my entire first floor.  As soon as the flooring contractor started to install the flooring we could tell that it was not looking as good as it should have.  Both Gregg and I noticed this and met with the flooring contractor and manufacturer representative.  I was expecting a big fight over correcting this item.  I was wrong!  Within 24 hours Gregg had arranged for the initial flooring contractor to remove all installed flooring and had  engaged a new flooring contractor to install a custom site finished wood floor.  All this was done at NO ADDITIONAL COST TO ME.  I expected a fight, but Gregg had my back.  He will truly do whatever is needed to make sure the customer is happy and make sure that the end product meets his exacting expectations.

In summary, choosing Last Detail Custom Carpentry for this project was the best decision I have made in a long time.  LDCC will be my 'go-to' contractor for any future work I need performed.
