    ACE APPLIANCE, SERVICE
Personnel both on the phone and conducting the repairs were polite, professional, and efficient. Problem was diagnosed quickly - a part had to be ordered, but once the part arrived the follow up appointment was scheduled quickly and the repair completed. Would definitely use Ace again!

    Aviv Appliances
Aviv came out, diagnosed it and charged $365.00 to fix it.   He could not demonstrate that it was fixed while he was here because we had to wait to let the ice freeze.
It never worked.  We called a few days later and reported that it was still not working.  They came out again to check it out.  Michelle from Aviv office called me a few hours later to say it was a different part, not the ice maker that was broken and it would cost another $200 to fix.   I said that since he misdiagnosed it wrong initially and charged me for work and parts we did not need that  I felt he should pay for the new part and fix it for free.  I asked that she had a conversation with her boss and get back to me.  That was over a month ago.  I never hear back from anyone.  Now I am heading into the holidays with no ice maker and am out $365!
AVIV DIAGNOSED IT WRONG!   TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
I WILL BE TAKING AVIV TO SMALL CLAIMS COURT TO GET MY MONEY BACK!

    Aviv Appliances
Icalled based on reviews in Angie's List.  My washer broke on Thursday afternoon, after following the troubleshooting instructions from the manufacturer, I determined the repair was beyond my abilities.  I called Eyal's office first thing Friday morning, and he was told he would be able come same day.  Eyal's assistant called twice, once to tell me he would be there in the afternoon, and another to say it would be about 30 mins before he arrived.  Once he arrived he diagnosed the issue within minutes, need a new part.  I was prepared to be told that it would take a few days to get the part, but he had it on his truck.  Within 1/2 the machine was working again.  The repair was much less than a new washer, which I feared would be the case.  All in all the experience was as smooth possible.  I'm very satisfied and would not hesitate to call on him again.

    Tim's Appliance Repair Inc
I called Tim at 9am on Monday morning, he arrived at 3:30pm the same day!  He was quickly able to diagnose the problem (broken motor), and give us several options.  Tim was open and honest when discussing our options -- he didn't push us in any direction.  In then end, we decided to get a new dishwasher since the part was so expensive (but we had the option to have it fixed by Tim).  Tim was courteous and professional -- continually referring to me as "sir" though I am 20+ years his junior.  Without a doubt I would have him back to look at any of my appliances.

    QUAKER CITY SVC
I bought a new washer/dryer from a local scratch and dent store.  No problem with the washer but the dryer did not dry the clothes.  I called the store who contacted the manufacturer.  They sent out a Quaker City repair man.  Once he pulled out the dryer he diagnosed the problem almost immediately...the plug was not plugged all the way into the receptacle so the unit was not running on full power!!!  He also took the extra time to level the unit (which the installer ignored -- it was off by about 2 inches) and clear out my dryer vent.  They were on-time, pleasant, courteous, and professional.  Would use them again even if it isn't under warranty.  Highly recommend this provider.

    Dave's Appliance Repair & Parts
Overall, I'm positive on this provider, and I would use them again.  However, I'm disappointed at the price I was charged for a simple part.

My washing machine stopped functioning when the spin cycle was to start (water wouldn't drain).  I visited their shop, explained the problem, Dave and other techs were very helpful to suggest the problem part and provide me with the correct part to purchase.  This took 2 minutes.  I purchased a replacement lid switch from Dave's for $50, tax included.   Later, I search amazon and other sites to see what this part goes for.  I was expecting that Dave's charged me a fair markup....i found the same part available online (amazon) for a mere $6.95.  OUCH!   To me, their expertise is worth some compensation, but considering the lack of labor involved, it's hard to justify this price.

On the positive side, Dave and team's 2 minute diagnosis was spot on.  Took me an hour to replace the part, and everything works.

Moral: if you are handy, do web searches first, then seek the experts.

    Jim Garthwaite Appliance Repair
He is honest and he knows the equipment really well and he doesn't make any repairs that aren't necessary. I have been using him for the past 15 years and will continue to use his services in the future.

    Jim Garthwaite Appliance Repair
It had been taking forever for my oven to heat up. Finally called Jim who figured out right away that a heating sensor had gone bad; he even had the replacement part on his van and replaced it immediately. Jim is prompt, pleasant and very knowledgeable about appliances. He has fixed my dishwasher and dryer in the past. He doesn't even own a computer and has an old-fashioned answering machine. That said, he provides old-fashioned service.

    ACE APPLIANCE, SERVICE
They were able to schedule an appointment the following day to inspect my dryer. He suggested that I not fix my dryer, but it would be in my best interest to buy a new dryer. He said I would be wasting my money fixing the dryer. They are honest and trustworthy. They are also prompt.

    QUAKER CITY SERVICE CO.
It went very well. Our service appointment was scheduled for 2/09/2010 but because of a cancellation the service technician was able to come out on 2/08. He started to work immediately, and was finished in about 20 minutes. Before he left he made sure to leave the area clean, and he took the defective relay with him. The refrigerator-freezer has woked fine since the repair.
