Irwin Siding Contractors Reviews
All the guys who worked on our house were terrific--Cliff did the windows and the front door work--he was meticulous and vacuumed up all the dust created from the removal of the old windows.
PS Our house is an old 1850's farmhouse that was added on to in the 1940's, so it required a lot of siding and windows!
In 2012 Pgh. Exteriors was chosen as our
contractor to replace our roof, siding, soffit & fascia, and gutters. We
also hired them to remove a 6 ft. sliding glass door and install a 9ft sliding
glass door in its place. From start to finish the process was frustrating and
disappointing. Box vents for the roof were installed at the peak instead of at
the bottom as requested and had to be moved, caulking was incomplete causing
leaks behind our new siding and into our attic eventually onto our bathroom
light fixture (Luckily the GFI tripped!). Gutters were reinstalled because of
the pitch as water pooled at the opposite end of the downspout numerous times.
We had to use a garden hose to prove it. Sliding glass door was installed with
a 4 inch high thresh hold causing a tripping hazard. As winter approached cold
air seeped into our game room from around our new door because not only did
they not replace the insulation that existed but didn’t insulate the area at all.
Some issues were addressed immediately, other times we called repeatedly for
weeks and even months at a time with no response. After contacting our
insurance company and the Better Business Bureau,
back to look at our door and gutter issues that we have been calling about. At
that point one must reflect and ask, “Do we really want that company doing any
more to our house?” We declined
issues on our own. (Husband already insulated around the sliding glass door and
applied caulking to all the holes in the gutters from them being moved.) We
will use Angie’s List as we try to find our next contractor.
There were some communication issues that are standard when you have work done in winter and 2 working home-owners. Time between call-backs and if working on a snowy/cold day.
