Basement Waterproofing reviews in Irwin

Keystone Basement Systems & Structural Repair Inc
Keystone Basement Systems was fabulous. I never write reviews. Our experience was so positive I felt compelled to share. "Seepage" into our gameroom was causing extra dampness, and when talking with other companies, I found myself feeling like nobody would "listen" to what our problem was. Keystone was PROFESSIONAL. They called when they said they would, they showed up exactly on time, they LISTENED, and most importantly, they corrected our problem at a very fair price and did an excellent job. NO MORE WATER. We are thrilled, and would recommend them over and over again. Thank you, Keystone, for being that company that does a great job, with integrity and professionalism!

    Advanced Basement Solutions
I hired Advance Basement Solutions to fix my wet basement. Service was scheduled at 7 am and they showed up 10 minutes early. Completed the job in one day and cleaned up the mess. Would definitely recommend them!

    Champion Waterproofing Inc
Crew chief was very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions and go over the planned work. Willingly stopped at points where I requested the chance to inspect before they proceeded. Did some minor extra work at no charge. Good job cleaning up afterwards.

    Ark Basement Svc
I hope that you read my review and think before you choose this company. In 2012 I was a single mom who just purchased my first house. During heavy rain the basement would have a small water trickle that came in right under a chimney on the main floor. Michael, the owner, came out and agreed that I was in need of French drains in my basement and that the chimney structure outside should be pier lifted. His subcontracted workers did a mediocre job. I try not to hover over workers, I give them their space. I even purchased lunch a couple of times for the crew. At the end of the job I was outside observing the French drain being installed next to my chimney. There was a bend in the ditch and they placed 2 separate pieces of drain pipe next to each other leaving about an inch wide gap at the bend. This would have caused all the water from my backyard that was collected into the drainage pipe to flow out of the gap and directly towards my home (about a foot away). Instead of adjoining an elbow piece, they left it as is and continued to place dirt over top to cover up their shotty work. I called and spoke to the owner, he came down, the covered up area of concern was dug out and they fixed it upon my demanding. Now I am left wondering what other corners they cut on the job?? I called to have my free annual sump pump checked multiple times. My calls have always gone to voicemail and I have never received a call back. After having several roofers come in well after this work was done, I have realized that my water issue was because of a flashing problem at my chimney. I did not need basement waterproofing and the owner of this company would have known this! Pier lift of chimney $5,000 Interior drains $2,700

    A Better Choice Inc
They did a fantastic job, the owner Richard Pack came an gave us a great quote on our basement...we couldnt resist. The crew came in, and finished the job in two days. We have never had a problem with A Better Choice Inc or their work. This is the second time we have used them. First time they waterproofed our first home, it was flawless. So after moving into this home we knew who to call! You wont regret having A Better Choice to fix any your basement needs.

    Foundation Station Inc

Foundation Station is a local business run by a husband and wife team. Their bid for the job was certainly competitive and their credentials looked very good. The contract was signed May 2nd 2015, and they said they would get to us as quickly as they could, perhaps as early as 5 weeks out. We had an unusually wet June and early July, and they started the job on July 20th. The long delay was frustrating for us, but once the rains came they could not have done our job much earlier than they did. The only opportunity was in late May or early June, but their prior work commitments filled that time.

The delay gave me time to consider alternatives to the original bid package, which I discussed with them the day the job started. I'm happy they considered my suggestions and the resulting change in plan was a definite improvement, getting the stone filled collection area further away from the house and below the roots of existing trees. The change added some cost to the job but was well worth it.

The day after the job was started (and the ditch was almost done) the rain came back and nearly filled the ditch at its lowest spot! It made work impossible that day, but it showed that the new location for the collection area was a good choice. The crew came back the following day and worked hard to complete the job. It looked very good, and I was anxious to see how the new grass would come in. Of course the rains that had plagued us went away, resulting in several weeks of draught conditions. As the saying goes, if it wasn't for bad luck we wouldn't have any luck at all.

It's now been almost 3 months since the French drain was installed, the grass came in ok, and we've had a few significant rainstorms recently that showed the French drain works very well.

I'm happy with the quality of the materials and workmanship provided by Foundation Station, and I would be happy to recommend them to anyone in the area. The marks I give show excellence in quality, professionalism and responsiveness, with good in pricing and promptness. The overall grade is excellent because even though I would have liked it less expensive and done more quickly, they gave excellent value for the money and they were great to work with.

    MT&R Basement Waterproofing & Foundations
We had a unique situation in that in a matter of a few weeks, we had the unfortunate situation of needing similar work in another part of our basement, so we got a chance to have a direct comparison between two separate companies. The first red flag was when the owner of MT&R came to our house during the initial bid estimate and proceeded to talk about how he didn't like Angie's List referrals because they could use the review as negotiating tool. Negotiation or not, the multiple negative reviews indicate that there is a pattern of poor work provided by MT&R and a lack of effort to resolve the issues.  That is unfortunately an accurate way to describe the work performed at our house.

Unfortunately, when I contracted MT&R I selected them based on the Angie List's ratings at the time and did not get any second bid offers.  I found out later when I contracted out similar work in another part of the house, that MT&R was twice as expensive as the next closest bid to theirs. Below is a list of the issues that I had (and in some cases still have) during this construction:

    1) The initial bid was based on digging a trench 75'.  In actuality. the trench was only 56'. We have been trying for several months to be reimbursed for the work that was never done, but the owner either doesn't return my call or says he'll call and never does.

    2) The amount of dust of debris created by MT&R and their inability to contain it to the room in which they were working was staggering. I compare this work to the work performed by A Better Choice (ABC), which had no trouble minimizing the dust with appropriate barriers and equipment.

    3) MT&R used limestone in their trenching system, which absorbs moisture and somewhat defeats the purpose of the trench. Every other company we spoke to used river rock which doesn't absorb moisture.

    4) The number of holes drilled into each cinder block by MT&R to release the water into trench was less than the number used by ABC.

    5) The pipe from the sump pump goes up the basement wall (7 feet) and then another 8 feet to my roof as opposed to laying the pipe in a trench away from the house. The vertical climb limits the maximum capacity that can be pumped out.

    6) WE NOW HAVE BLACK MOLD AGAIN IN THE SAME LOCATION WHERE THE WORK WAS DONE!! In only five months after the work was done.

    7) The original bid included a speedy drain, but weather prevented the initial installation and the company never called to reschedule the work.

    Advanced Basement Solutions
There were 3 men who arrived early to begin the job.  They work hard and this is not an easy process.  The workers encountered a couple of obstacles, but seemed intent on finishing the job in one day, they even continued into the evening.  As a result there were a couple of aspects of the job that were not finished properly.  We called the company and they sent a representative the following week to resolve the areas of concern.

    A Better Choice Inc

Dampness problem came back.   We were told the warranty only covered water on the floor.  We never had water on the floor only damp walls.  We were told by the sales representative that the sump pump would correct the dampness problem.  After 2 months the dampness on the walls is coming back.  After numerous calls they sent a man to spray for mold.  He was not very customer oriented.  He said his only job was to spray for mold.  We were looking for answers to the problem.  We don't  believe spraying of bleach will solve the problem.  Awaiting for a call back from the office for a resolution.

July 8, Jude Champion came and found dampness on the walls.  He said he would talk to Bill Richel.  Bill came to the house on July 12.  He said they will install vents in the wall.  Bill told us the problem would be corrected.
