I've been to IRMC for bloodwork and cardiac tests. They call you to do the pre-registration before your appointment, which saves time when you actually arrive. They are prompt and friendly and have always answered any questions I've had.

I had to go twice to get my blood drawn, it was okay the first time. You have to take a number, then go back to give all your information, then go to a different area to get the actual draw. The waiting was the main issue, the waiting room is always filled so even though there are 3 or 4 people doing the informational part, it still takes a while. The first time I went I didn't have to wait very long maybe 10 minutes. The staff there was very friendly and I moved right on the lab area to get it done. The wait there was longer, about 15 because there was less people working back there. The tech was nice and efficient. The second time I went the wait was longer for both areas and the tech was way less friendly. Someone working in that field should probably have a nicer personality considering how many people are afraid of needles. She was also less gentle with the needle then the first tech had been. All in all it was a decent experience, and if I had to I would go back to get more blood work, but if I could find somewhere else better I would prefer that.

I have been using this provider for about a year now and they have been overall decent. My first encounter with them was a mistake in the beginning coverage date. I was to start my coverage on the 25th of September last year, so I scheduled a doctors appt for the 30th. A week later I got a bill for $450 from my doctor because they said I had no insurance. I called the company and advised them of the problem and they basically stated that it was a problem on the end of my employer. If I could get my employer to call them and change the date then they would pay for it, but my employer had already submitted the paperwork and wouldn't call them. Highmark stated they noticed that there was an issue, but that they weren't allowed to back date insurance coverage (even though they just activated it on the wrong date). This was my first time with insurance through my employer so the whole experience was confusing and irritating since I ended up having to pay the $450 to the doctor anyway, even though I should have been covered. Since then I haven't had any other issues with them, although at this point I have only used them for regular insurance claims and haven't really had to deal with them much anyway.

I preregistered for my appointment and this saved time the morning of my appointment. The lab is open early so I was able to get up and ready for work, go get my blood work done, then eat breakfast and still get to work early. Their system is extremely efficient and the phlebotomist I saw was efficient, friendly and very helpful. She read my chart and I did not have to remind her of my latex allergy nor did I have to request she use a butterfly needle -- not sure if it is noted in my chart or if she remembered, but either way it was impressive. When I have gone elsewhere to get blood drawn I have ended up with a rather large bruise on my arm. At IRMC I have received excellent care and not had a bruise of any size. I highly recommend IRMC lab for blood work.

Service has always been prompt and timely. Personnel are courteous and professional. Results are revewed and reported promptly to my physician electronically. Facilities are clean and comfortable. Parking is free and adequate. Have never had a problem with billing. Employees seem to actually enjoy their work.

It was a horrible experience. The delivery nurse was an older woman but I can't remember her name. The delivery nurse was very rude and was upset when I went into the bathroom to throw up because she had to keep putting the heart rate monitor and contraction tocometer back onto me. However, she never handed me anything to throw up in. I asked for an epidural and it took her at least an hour and a half to just hand the saline which took another half hour before I could actually get the epidural. She told me it was because they were short staffed and she was the only person on the floor that night. Then when it was time to push (a half hour later) she turned off the epidural and I could feel everything. She did not help with the pain and wasn't even at my side and kept walking in and out of the room. She was not very friendly at all. The doctor is a whole other story, but I reported him in another report. When my baby was delivered no one followed my birth plan. I wanted to give the first bath. They said no. I wanted to stay with my baby when they did the initial exam. They said no. When I asked to see my baby the nurse joked that if I kept asking she wouldn't bring her back at all. It took two hours to see my baby again. I had a hard time with the nurses bringing her back from the nursery from then on and they told me they were short staffed. They wouldn't let me come and get her from the nursery and were very rude. My baby was choking once and I rang the call bell and someone answered and said someone said they would be back. No one ever came and I didn't ring again because the choking resolved on its own. As for my postpartum care, they checked my fundus once and only once. They never checked my pereneum. These things they are supposed to do once a shift. I could've been hemorrhaging and no one would have known or cared. This hospital is very unprofessional and stuck in the last century when it comes to newborn and postpartum care. I would say that it is almost dangerous and to go to Pittsburgh or Greensburg if you are delivering a baby.
