I went in a few times and had no problems with this office. However, after three appointments and the usual blood tests, they decided to run tests to check for blood clotting disorders since there was a very slight chance that I would have one. They sent me for testing to a facility that was in my network for the prior tests, but somehow wasn't for this particular test. The results ended up coming back saying I had some ridiculously rare hereditary blood clotting disorder. The doctors started me on daily injection blood thinners. I kept requesting to be retested since the numbers were barely irregular and no one in my family has a blood clotting disorder. The doctors refused to run the tests again and continued with the daily injection blood thinners. I ended up going elsewhere for a second opinion and saw multiple high risk doctors. They all said that the blood clotting disorder the doctors at Washington OB/GYN tested for will almost always come back irregular while pregnant. I was taken off the daily injection blood thinners and never had any problems. Now I'm stuck with a $350 bill for this test and the blood thinners that I never even needed!

The Outpatient Clinic was great. Once I found the resident I wanted to continue seeing, I continued to schedule appointments with her. She was unable to deliver my daughter, but still managed to check in on us before her shift was over in Labor&Delivery. The staff in Labor&Delivery was absolutely amazing as well. My husband and I loved our birth experience. The only thing we did not enjoy was going up to Recovery. The Mom and Baby Recovery Unit was completely subpar compared to Labor&Delivery. The room was dark, dingy, and felt a little gross. Mind you, I just came out of a room nicer than most five star hotel rooms. I would definitely deliver at Magee again, but I would still sign myself out before the usual 36 hours because the Recovery Unit was just really uncomfortable for me. ***Side note: Since I signed myself out against medical advice, UPMC actually sent a nurse to my home which is over an hour away to check on the baby and myself which was really great of them.
