Lighting Installation reviews in Hatfield

    Meridian Construction
We recently completed a major design and build project in our 1500 sqft basement using Meridian Construction, and we must say we are extremely satisfied with the results. We had a pretty good idea what we wanted to achieve when we started the project, but had no idea how much better it would turn out, due to the efforts of the team at Meridian. When we started our search for a contractor, we knew we were looking for a one-stop, design and build solution. We had heard many stories about people who decided to use one company for the design work, and then use another company for the construction phase. Or worse yet, those who chose to hire multiple sub-contractors to perform the framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other portions of the project. We decided not to go down that road. We spent several few weeks on the internet researching different D&B contractors in the local area; both via websites like Angies List and Houzz, and found a few likely candidates. After review of the Meridian Construction website, which depicts photo-shoots of many of their completed projects and actual customer reviews, we took the plunge and called Meridian. After our first one hour meeting at their office with Larry Giannone, one of the owners, and the rest of his staff, we knew we had found the right company for our project. After we signed the design contract, the real work began. Through a series of weekly meetings, usually held at Meridians office through the design phase, we walked thru each step of the Meridian process. First Larry, and his design assistant, Austin, came out to our house and took complete measurements of our basement. Then, after review of some sketches of a proposed layout we had previously made, and a thorough discussion of what our goals and objectives were, Austin put everything in a computer program that gave us 2D and 3D dimensional views of our plans. It became very evident that we needed to make some changes, and with Larry and Austins guidance, we made significant improvements to our layout. This process got finer and finer in detail as we went along, everything - including electrical, plumbing, ceiling, flooring, doors, fireplace, bathroom and bar fixtures, cabinetry was included in those plans. And each time, Austin would update the computer program, so we could see the changes clearly in great detail. And with each change, Martha, Meridians project coordinator, would update a cost spreadsheet and provide us with accurate cost update at all times. Through this process, we got to our final layout. Meridian then took all that information and developed a comprehensive construction quotation, which included all anticipated costs. We were pleased with the quotation, and by this time, we had developed a great working relationship with Larry and his team. By our original agreement, we could have taken those plans and gone to another contractor for the construction phase. However, there was no question we would continue on with Meridian. After signed the construction contract, we picked out the material options for our renovation: plumbing fixtures and tile options for the bathroom, floor and ceiling for all four rooms, stone for the fireplace and the specific gas fireplace to be installed, granite for the bar areas, electrical fixture and outlet options, cabinets for the bar and entertainment area, and paint colors and trim options for all areas. This process was made easy by Meridian: by provided an allowance quote for every item with each supplier in their original quotation, we could decide if and where we wanted to stretch the budget. The allowances were generally spot-on, and we chose where we wanted to upgrade. Meridian provided a list of preferred vendors for these items, and as we visited each supplier, who all were very helpful during this process, and all had a great working relationship with Meridian. Once the selections were all made, Martha updated her cost spreadsheets and we made a few changes to meet our budget requirements. We were now ready to move on to the actual construction phase. We were to the key members of the Meridian construction team Mick Giannone, Larrys brother and business partner, who runs the construction team, and Matt, the on-site construction leader, who worked on our renovation from start to finish. As this phase began, we met with Larry at our house every week, to review progress and discuss the next weeks activity. Even more importantly, we resolved unforeseen issues in most cases, things that my wife and I thought of that could improve our project. This would require Larry and Austins input for feasibility and cost. And each week, we would confer with Larry and Matt in the basement to review final decisions on stone fireplace construction, granite sizes for bar areas, the height of the tray ceiling for the entertainment area, and others. We were also impressed with Meridian efforts during this project. First, we have a physically-challenged grandson (muscular dystrophy) who we want to be able to accommodate in the basement area. Larry and Austin took care of details, such as design of a handicapped-accessible bathroom and shower area, and the reinforcement of one set of steps to accommodate a chair lift for installation at a later date. Second, we have several antique model trains that we wanted to display. Larry and Austin suggested in-wall shelving with back lighting in the hallway, which turned out wonderfully. Third, we wanted a state-of-the-art, in-wall home theater system in the entertainment area. We had a local audio shop in mind for the installation, and were pleased to hear that Meridian already had a great working relationship with them. The two companies collaborated to make the entertainment area a total success. With the project completed, we would say that not only are we over-the-top satisfied with our basement renovation, we feel we have become friends with the folks at Meridian. Their attention to detail is unbelievable, and it shows in the final product. We have already talked with Larry about a few other projects in our home, and would highly recommend anyone to consider Meridian Construction for their renovation work.

    Meridian Construction
We researched and evaluated several different contractors and companies who offered renovations/remodels. We liked Meridian the best from day 1. Their design & build model was exactly what we were looking for since we wanted to be able to better visualize what we were getting. There were only 2 companies that offered that in our area and Meridian came with the highest recommendations. Yes, there were other contractors (friends of friends) who opted to do it cheaper, but after hearing horror stories from others about jobs that weren't finished or low quotes that ended up costing a whole lot more, we made the decision to go with the company that we thought would provide a seamless addition, would be easy to work with, and would get the job done without excuses. Right now, we're in the middle of the renovation, but I can honestly say we made the right decision. We're so glad we went with Meridian. We paid a small amount for the design phase to be able to see architectural drawings and pick out our options of what we wanted. This was essential in my mind, as it really helped us better scope out the project and assess everything involved. We made some changes along the way and Meridian has been very flexible and accommodating for some of our personal needs. We're just a couple weeks away from the finish date now and can't wait! I can't say enough good things about them. If you're considering an addition or remodel, this company is the way to go. Even if you're looking for an honest opinion whether it makes sense to move or remodel, they can help. Update: The construction is now complete and we couldn't be happier. It turned out even better than we expected! I just can't believe how easy and seemless the process was. I would give them an A++ if I could. All the workers were professional, considerate and top-notch. The quality was impeccable, ant they kept the place neat throughout (even climbing through the window during construction so they didn't disturb the rest of the house). We'll be using them again down the road when we're ready to remodel our kitchen.

    Accent Electric, Ltd.
We were very pleased with our service. Our big project was the recessed lighting in two downstairs rooms. Larry & Ray were able to install new lighting with only 3 small sections for access (2x4 inches). Other contractors had talked about pulling back the carpet in the rooms above and how the crown moulding may be damaged, but Larry avoided all of that. We had a laundry list of things to do but everything was completed within 2 days and Larry even came back to swap out a ceiling fan that wasn't working properly (manufacturer issue). We couldn't be happier with the service they provided and will definitely use them again. They were professional and efficient.

    Millenium Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling
Initially, I had a list of tasks to be performed that was going to be worked on over a period of time (over a year). But as I have learned from several contractors, you can gain cost efficiency if the tasks are bundled - so that is what I did. One main project consisting of several mini-projects.
I chose Millenium Remodeling (MR) to do the work because of the initial encounter with one of the co-owners, Kip. Kip arrived on time to discuss the project work to be performed. He offered suggestions on how the work could be done. Kip was able to provide us with service estimates for each of the projects, along with ballpark estimates of what the material would cost. Using the power of technology (smartphone), he was able to show us what some of the material would look like. Kip's estimates were reasonable and in-line with other contractors. It was his organizational skills that gave him the edge over others.
Before any work started. We met with Kip at one of the "Big box hardware stores" to go shopping. This is where we are able to discuss specific materials/products that were needed. We felt this to be very helpful.
The day the work started, Kip introduced us to Mike Ward. Mike was both our foreman and main worker. Mike would do the bulk of the work - with some help from Jay (another good worker) and Kip would periodically check in to ensure that progress was being made and to answer any questions.
I cannot say enough about Mike. He doesn't just do the work, he takes ownership. Mike worked hard to make sure the work was done right. We had two separate issues with materials: an entry door and a vanity. In both cases, we had deformities with the products. Mike could have just told us, "you have a problem". But no, to Mike, it was "WE have a problem". In both cases, Mike took the products back to the store and ensured that we got the right product without any issues. Aside from a couple of days, Mike worked the entire six weeks of the project, including weekends and a holiday.
MR is a contracting service where the workers are professional, personable AND punctual. A combination that you don't always get from a contractor. As you can see from "what did the provide do"section, we had various type of work performed. All of the work was done to our satisfaction. Would we use MR again? We're already discussing the next project.

THe work they did was good - have had no problems with any work they performed. I purchased a $200 couple for $400 of work which they honored. Only have one minor issue - one was I wanted a couple of under counter lights installed in the kitchen, but, they were not able to do that as the other work was not not until end of day though arriving a bit earlier might have helped.

I was a bit concerned because the ceiling had to be opened up in a few places. But all was done smoothly and in a timely fashion. He also came back to apply another skim coat after sanding the first. I had to do an absolute minimum of sanding myself before painting. The ceiling came out smooth and you could not tell that the fixture had been recently added.

Everything went great!!!!!!!  Kip did a 3-D computer generated plan for our kitchen and bathroom work.  Really helped us see what the final project would look like.  Also, the time that Kip spent shopping with us also helped us keep with in our budget.  Our house now looks great.  They finished on time(having to work weekends and later into the night) even with the additional work I added during the project.  House was keep clean and tools were packed away so that my 4 year old son couldn't get hurt.  I'm going to hire them in the future for some other projects and I referred them to my parents.  They are now doing their kitchen and that too looks great.  If you want someone who you can trust, hire these guys.

The job went well.  We tripled the size of the job and they worked very hard to keep with in our schedule.  You can trust them in you house and with your belongings.  They also feed and gave water to our cats while we where away.  Highly recommend.

These guys were great. Slightly late start due to an accident on the way here. However, they called to let us know. They were respectful and knowledgeable. They knew the appropriate height for the chandelier and optimized the track light to exceed our expectations. It is truly a breath of fresh air for us to have contractors that are so competent.

Kircher electric was very good from start to end. They were actually half the price of another Angies list electrician for the same exact job. They were punctual and clean. No doubt that I would use them again.
