    John McDevitt Construction
On 12/31/2018 I entered into a contract with McDevitt Construction to Fully demo my house located on N. 40th Street Philadelphia, PA. 19104. A few additional weeks went by McDevitt said there was delays at L&I and that's why he never began to demo the house. Cleaning out the contents of the house also slowed down, there was always a reason why. On numerous occasions I told McDevitt I was uncomfortable. He didn't seem to have clear answers. February 11, 2019 I went to L&I and spoke with two representatives that stated No Demo permit application for my property and nothing had been filled aside from my Architects building permit. I was informed that only 2 over the counter permits had been obtained to remove interior contents. I reached out to McDevitt to find out what was going on, he was unavailable to talk, he had a death in the family followed by another death a few days later. McDevitt became impossible to reach. *Documentation from the City of Philadelphia attached and correspondence with McDevitt. After a few weeks I received an email from McDevitt, stating he needed to exit the contract and he wanted to give me back my full amount of $21,250 over 22 months beginning later this year. I informed him this was unacceptable. *Emails and exit contract attached. McDevitt has really left me and the property in a bad position and the structure compromised. He left debris outside the property for me take care of and the property poorly secured. I also got numerous violations. PLEASE DON'T USE THIS CLOWN!! I don't want what happened to me to happen to anyone else. ** ultimately I did receive a judgment in my favor. Probably will never see the money.

. We would hire him again for any masonry work needed.Great job. Phil was punctual, polite, and got the job done in the time and at the cost quoted. We have also used him for chimney work in the past,

    BQ Basement Systems Inc
We hired BQ to install French drain, trench drain, sump pump and flooring. On the day the job was finished my husband and I go look at everything and realize they never installed the trench drain after they told us they did. If we did not know anything about the work we were having done we would of never noticed it not being installed. I called our sales manage and he said they would be in the next day to install it. I take off work to be there and waited all morning, I call BQ to find out they cant come, again no one called me I am calling them. They will call me back when they know what day, a week goes by and I am told they are installing it when the floors are. Two weeks later they install the flooring and the trench drain. From that point on, we have gotten water in our basement three times. First time, the sump pump was not installed correctly, second time water came through our floors and they added a bi lateral drain and third the trench drain did not work properly causing water to build up outside and come through our door. I am very disappointed on how they treated us considering this is a family business. We wrote a letter to the owner and never heard back. Joe V., the general manager received the letter and spoke with the owner and our sales manager and we were told from their perspective, everything was fixed and they do not owe us anything. This job started in February and still not done. I would recommend some training in customer service and installation in projects due to the reason we got water was because their products were not installed correctly. In addition, if this is how a company speaks to their customers, no one deserves that disrespect, especially from there general manager and owner.

    BQ Basement Systems Inc
Had used BQ to address a mold issue a couple of years ago. Initial installation of de-humidifier system was sloppy---tubing was hanging; not well done. Dealt with management to have another installer come out and fix the installation, which was then done properly, and they did give a followup maintenance service without charge to compensate for the problem installation. HOWEVER, we recently had water in a small area of the basement. We had a trench and sump pump installed years ago, which were all working properly. Salesman came out and without making any attempt to determine the cause of the leakage, tried to sell us a new trench @ $10,500, even though we already had a working trench. We used a competitor, who diagnosed the problem as a window well and glass block issue, not a trench and sump pump problem. We spent far less money, and resolved the problem, using the competitor. If we had gone with BQ's new trench, that would not have resolved the problem since the existing trench was working fine and not causing the problem. I tried to speak with Brian Quinn, owner, and was only able to reach a manager, who was just defensive.

We were pleased in the beginning and understanding of delays. We are pleased with his crews work. His electrical subcontractor was awesome. Wish we could say the same for Dave.... Communication was fine in the beginning until the job really got started. Dave's rude attitude, and know it all behavior spewed out of him, even more so after things seemed to be irritating him. The job got to say 85% complete and then he dropped the ball and ignored us. We felt he put us at the end of his list every time. At this point, he instructed we communicated no longer with him, but with his secretary ( guessing family member) in order to wrap the job up. From that point on things did not progress. He ignored us and left us to find our own subs to finish the job. They could never provide definitive answers and always the run around. We were lucky to get the load of trash off our property after a month. He does not believe in punch lists either. The last straw was when we received a text message berating us for unforeseen conditions, long on invective and totally irrelevant to the job....Dave did not take responsibility for damages caused by his crew and would not come out to make amends when we gave him numerous opportunities before reviewing him. He does not believe in professionalism and does not stay true to his word. Also, his only 2 positive reviews are family members or bogus clients. STAY AWAY!!!!!

    Housing Solutions, Inc.
Big thanks to Neal. They did a fantastic job remodeling my basement and building me a custom black walnut wet bar. The foreman, Luis, and his guys were great. They treated my home as if it was theirs, making sure it was protected and clean all throughout the job. They reworked things when I changed my mind, or if there was confusion with what I had in mind, and Neal honored the original budget. The crew performed high quality work, paid attention to the details, were really nice and just a cool, fun group of guys. Definitely worth the money. The only watchout is to make certain you come to clear understanding up front on your material and design requirements. I knew what I wanted, but at medium level of detail. It wasnt a problem, just helps to avoid confusion.

A huge dirty, noisy, job went smooth. Minimal disturbance in our overall home. Very punctual, job took a typical 2 week stretch but Phil was always in touch with us on next step. Even came back on weekend to make sure things were right. Would hire again and will refer.

As in our first interaction, Andy and Ross (owners) were helpful, professional, creative, responsive, and efficient They answered all our questions and the job was done exactly as they had promised. They are terrific professionals and make these repair projects much smoother and even enjoyable than you would think they could be. Twice they have exceeded our expectations.

    Waterproofing One
Had a good experience overall. They had an opening in the schedule so were able to start quickly. Property had some plumbing buried in the floor that the crew had to work around and it was all done without any issues. Crew was professional and easy to work with. Haven't had any water issues since the drain and sump were installed several months ago--despite several big rains.

From the beginning of the project to the end, the co-owners Ross and Andy and their diverse team of technicians and workers were professional, reassuring, prompt, and thorough. I particularly appreciated not only the diversity of their team but the camaraderie among them that led to efficiency and ease of service. They treated our house with respect, cleaning up after themselves at every step of the process and were trustworthy, as we needed to leave them alone in our home during most of the process. They even asked if they could use the restroom. On the way out, I mentioned a problem with my kitchen faucet and Ross stopped his exit, got down on the floor, found the problem and made the repair on the spot-no charge. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who finds themselves with an extensive and expensive home repair of this type. They were, in a word, TERRIFIC. And we now have a new plumber- thank you Ross.
