Window Replacement reviews in Gettysburg

  • It went poorly right from the start, didn’t start job when they said they would, only showed up few days a week and didn’t work full days. Left there trash and cigarette butts lying around. I found mistakes every time I inspected which was after every time they worked. 1 no j channel used at places and old siding could be seen at edges 2 large gaps between new siding and tops of roof ,6 or more inches. 3 all wood was not covered at windows where they flashed 4 Flashing nailed incorrectly causing warpage of flashing 5 did not use plywood to cover over windows in shed with siding. Just went over the windows with no support behind. 6 did not flash around all exposed wood on shed door and other places on shed. 7 left trash lay everyday, killed wife’s garden 8 warped siding caused by incorrectly installing without proper materials 9 did not finish trim inside of door installed. 10 days we forgot to leave a door unlocked they broke in using a credit card never telling us about it til cornered. 11 had bad leaks through roof due to window being incorrectly flashed, roofer found and fixed that. He is the one who told me how badly done it was and he is an old glory employee. 12 all caulking around windows was improperly done and cracked. 13 one set of windows was left completely untouched and not flashed. 14 assorted gaps from poor workmanship. 15 poor mitering of siding trim everywhere. 16 was promised my shed roof to be painted free of charge and was renigged upon. There were quite a few other problems but these are the highlights. I was given a free set of three windows installed about halfway through this job because I called them out on the bad flashing being cause of leaks. Was informed later that was meant to make up for all the problems. All these issues were later fixed by a crew that was not even old glory employees except one of them. The man in charge of this rework crew knew what he was doing as did the crew. They had to remove and replace nearly all the siding. They removed and replace ALL the flashing around windows. This job was quoted to me back in February of 2018 with a start of middle of March 2018 to be finished in 3 to 5 weeks. This is now past halfway through sept and it STILL is not done. They blamed it all on the weather but there were entire weeks of good days they didn’t work at all. There usual hrs worked were only about 5 to 6 hrs when they did show up.

  • I've met with Aspen on two occasions.  The first was the sales pitch.  I liked the fact that this company was willing to meet me on Saturdays.  I work during the week and it's not always an easy thing just to take a day off whenever I want and I have a set number of days each year that I can use as vacation days so I hold on to them kind of tight.  I hate to be spending all my days off just waiting for work people to come to the house.  I liked the salesman.  He was very friendly and I liked that he knew what he was talking about.  I checked into the quality of the windows and they get high marks but in trade reviews and by people who have had them installed.  The price was good.  Just on Friday the man came to do the actual measurements.  He was very quick and seemed to know exactly what he was doing.  I have these large windows and he didn't even ask me for any help with the measurement.  The installation will probably take place in August so that part of the review will have to wait.

  • I had to contacted Mr. Wertz continually to find out when he was going to start the job, but he made excuses that him and his crew were finishing other projects or the weather was prohibiting from starting .  By July of 2013 I informed Mr. Wertz that I wanted a refund in which he got verbally abusive with me.  After he calmed down, he called back and asked for another chance, which I gave him, but wished I hadn't.  I waited another two weeks and called again.  Then Mr. Wertz and his two man crew showed up to start on my roof.  They would show up around 11 a.m. everyday and leave by 3 or 4 p.m.  He had my roof off for two weeks, in which then it rained and water was pouring into my house.  I had just laid new flooring which gotten ruined, not to mention all the water in my duct work, running out of the ceiling lights and ceiling fans and water damage to the ceiling.  I contacted the local building inspector, which I found out that he never got a building permit, (It was in the contract that he was required to do).  The inspector came out that same day and told him that he could not leave that day without getting the house under cover.  It took him several more weeks to get the job done.  He also did not complete the items that the building inspector told him that needed to be done.  Mr. Wertz also put in the contract that the roof will be warranted for life.  But I would never have him work on anything ever again.  I had to hire another roofer to come and fix the damage that Mr. Wertz did to the roof.  The roofer told me that he has never seen such poor workmanship in his 30 years of doing roofs.  There are three different types of shingles, he left holes where the roof and siding meet, the vents are on backwards, and the esthetics is so poor that it is very noticeable.  I also filed a lawsuit against Mr. Wertz, but came to find out many people have sued Mr. Wertz.  He has evaded all the attempts to serve him, because he has been in trouble so much before.

  • We were pleased with the price, and they worked with us on the installation timing.  We were initially told that the project would take approximately one week, however, it took about two weeks.  The installers were professional and responsive to our requests.  There was a mis-measurement on the size of the bow window, so that lengthened the job while they re-ordered a replacement. They made efforts to clean up after the job.  We are pleased with the outcome, but, are waiting to see if the windows lower our heating and cooling costs.  The finished job looks very nice.  We did have one minor issue with the installation of a light, however, we called them, and they came out and fixed it within a week.  I would recommend them to others considering this type of project.

  • The salesman arrived promptly and prepared to provide an estimate.  He thoroughly explained the product (windows) and the manner in which they worked and suggested savings that would be accrued by selecting their product.  After providing an estimate,  which was quite high,  he then advised that if we chose to sign a contract at that time, that they could provide a significant discount.  I believe that the estimate was still quite high, and we chose not to select this service at the time.  The product does seem to be top of the line, however; I also believe that there are other viable options which will meet our needs without the significant cost.

  • It was a good installation with one exception. The company mis measured the kitchen window. It took a month or two to get the new window, make a convenient appointment and return for the install. No big issue. I purchased eleven double hung, low E argon filled, energy star windows. I paid for removal and disposal of the old windows. I paid for wrapping each window with wood trim to make the window frame maintenance free. Joyce Dube of the Portsmouth office of Window World was very thorough with the estimate and arrangements. The installer was efficient and professional.
