    Lou Menta Electric
First let me preface this review by saying that I have over 20 years professional experience in residential construction estimating, project management and sales. I have interacted with hundreds of contractors and Lou Menta was easily one of the worst. As part of a pool installation at our home we needed to have electric piped out underground from the house to the pool and to have it inspected by a third party electrical inspector, as required for the pool permit. By the time Lou came out I had already met with three other electricians and had their bids. However, at the behest of my mother in law, she recommended that I call Lou, who was in her business networking group Le Tip. We live in the same township, so I gave him a call. I will say that he did get out to see the job quickly. He did not come at the time he stated the day before, but that wasn't a big deal. We walked the job and I showed him the 4x4 posts that were already in the ground for him to hang the box from and the 100' trench that was also completed at that time. Zero electrical work was done. He had no objections to the existing work. Having already walked the same site with three electricians I was taken back by his general lack of detailed knowledge regarding the pool permit requirements, especially since we live in the same township. However I cut him some slack, assuming that he would have it figured out by the time I received the estimate. While he was here he was trying to fish and see where the other electrician's pricing came in, which he suggested would be around $4,500. (That wasn't even close as the other prices ranged from $1,950 to $2,600.) Other than that sliminess, he was friendly enough, took my email down and said he would have an estimate over in TWO DAYS. After 5 days with nothing I tried calling them. I left messages on the office answering machine and Lou's cell phone. I called a few more times over the next 5 days and left messages just looking to touch base. Out of 5 or 6 phone calls, nobody EVER answered a phone or returned a voicemail. Finally, I even tried texting Lou Sr and Lou Jr and they didn't respond either. By this time I had waited over 10 days. Everything else with the pool was done, fence, equipment, plumbing, everything just waiting on electric. My kids are dying to get into this pool so it's frustrating having to be on hold for over ten days. Thanks Lou. After trying to text them with no response I went ahead with another contractor. I will admit that I texted both of them again the next day and said they were pathetic. AND SURE ENOUGH both of them texted back immediately. All of a sudden their phones started working again. A few minutes later I received a voicemail from Lou Sr actually threatening me. LOL. Message me for a screen grab and the audio file. These guys really are pathetic. If you want bad service, price gouging and questionable skill then by all means Lou Menta and his kid are perfect for you.

Mr. Electric of Bucks and Montgomery County
The service provided worked out fine. I liked that they were on time and everything worked. There was nothing that I didn't like. They were very professional. The work turned out fine, the lights worked.

    FRATER'S ELECTRIC

A good electrician is hard to come by.  One needs to do some homework when selecting an electrician, without prior knowledge.  You can 1. Ask your friends and neighbors, 2. Read reviews, 3. Take a chance.

We took a chance and chose Fraters electric.  We have used their services for a number of years with good results. They are responsive and punctual; grade A on both counts.

Estimates can be tricky.  They need to know every detail of what needs to be done, since they bill by the hour.  This can make the installation of a light and switch (for that light) a 1-2 hour job, depending on complexity, cost around $150.  The installation of new wall socket outlets (an easy job) take about 15-20 minutes per socket.  The time adds up.  Just be aware.  Im giving a price grade of C.  Its fair, but it can run high.

We had a moderately sized project that was performed by one of the electricians with Fraters.  This electrician has been to our home to perform work no less than three times in the past.  The one thing I know about him is that he is meticulous, and he takes a long time to complete his work.  Better safe than sorry, right?  Time is money.

On a recent project, the same electrician performed work and made a mistake, which caused some other problems.  Fraters was willing to come out and correct the problem free of charge, because it was their fault and a mistake.  This was appreciated, though it did make me a bit upset to have to prove it was their fault.  Additionally, the work was sloppy.  Im giving a D grade for quality: Drywall repair needed, and the job was not done right the first time.

Regardless, I am happy with the ultimate outcome.  Because of the headaches involved, I am giving a grade B (had they not accepted fault and fixed the problem, it would have been lower).

Bottom line: If you have a specific job that you cannot do yourself, call on them, have them come out to assess the project and give you a good estimate.  Fraters Electric provides good quality work.

    NTHill Home Renovations
First, I'll begin by saying that without reservation I would recommend Tom and his team for your next renovation project. If the entire premise of Angie's List is to find craftsmen who not only perform excellent work, but also genuinely care about service, professionalism, and ultimately whether you, the client, are happy with the job, then Tom Hill is exactly the type of contractor you want working on your house.

Our project began with a simple upstairs hall bathroom renovation. The whole thing needed to be gutted and my wife and I wanted the front wall bumped out 18" to make it a little larger too. Additionally, we had a handful of odds and ends that we wanted tackled throughout the upstairs; things like installing crown moulding in the bedrooms, adding recessed lighting and ceiling fans in the bedrooms, painting the upstairs hallway, and adding lighting to a large attic area off one of the bedrooms. Tom estimated being able to complete the bathroom and hallway work in 2-3 weeks. The whole project, with the bedroom work, was finished in exactly four weeks, on time and on budget.

All of the work was completed by Tom and his two guys, Pablo and Hugo. All three of them are incredibly polite, respectful workers. We trusted them working in the house while we weren't there and I don't see any reason why you shouldn't either. Throughout the three weeks, Tom was consistently asking how we felt things were going, whether everything looked okay, and always asked our opinion if there was more than one way to do something. A lot of contractors just want to get the job done; Tom wants it to get done the way you want it done. A perfect example of this occurred with the bathtub we special ordered. The first one arrived, they opened the box and one of the edges was cracked. I feel like a lot of contractors would have pressured us to find a replacement at Home Depot right away so that the job wouldn't affect the start date of their next project. Tom applied no pressure at all, helped us decide what best to do, and when we decided to reorder and wait for the tub, adjusted the work schedule accordingly so that they were busy and the timeline stayed pretty much on track.
As for the quality of work, I'm a terrible perfectionist and have done just about every DIY project imaginable in a house myself earlier in life, so I know where shortcuts can be taken. I'm happy to say that I haven't found any of those with this project. Things were simply done the right way.

We first contacted Tom about doing the project several months before they started. Throughout that time, he checked in on a number of occasions to ensure we had secured the necessary fixtures, provided his opinions on how best to purchase certain items, etc. While I don't know if he can assist you with design work (we did the design ourselves), you should not hesitate to pick his brain if you have questions as he has a wealth of information and is very willing to share.

Finally, we have already discussed some potential renovations we want done in our kitchen and Tom will be the first person we call when that is ready to begin.

    Exact Solar
My previous hot water system used a pumping system that wasn't reliable.  Exact solar responded quickly to my call and replaced it with a drain back system at an affordable price.  It has worked for 9 months without any problems and it produces more hot water than the previous system!

    Krzaczyk Electric

Rich Krczaczyk will be my electrician as long as I need one.  I had a problem with an outside electrical box that is used for a flag light and a general purpose outlet.  After some 20 yrs., it needed replacement.  Rich came with the necessary hardware and replaced it quickly.  We also decided to replace the circuit breaker as well.  Both jobs were done in a timely and professional manner and for a very reasonable price.

    Millenium Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling
Millenium worked with us through all stages of the project.  They provided a 3D cad drawing to start, took us shopping for the appliances, and then walked us through the process.  The demolition, framing, electrical, plumbing work was done professionally and timely.  They revisited the project to offer advice on tiling, drywall, and other small things to ensure the whole project finished at a high standard.  Overall, they did what they said they would do, for the money they said it would cost, in the timeframe that we had agreed upon.

Mr. Electric of Bucks and Montgomery County
It took two visits - but worth the time and effort. The problem was with the outdoor entrance light. Couldn't be certain whether it was the fixture, the wiring, or the indoor switch. First visit narrowed the problem down to the fixture and did everything possible to resolve the problem. A week later I called and had them install a newly purchased fixture. These folks are pleasant, reliable, and have a focused work ethic.

    Ray DiFrancesco Home Improvements
We moved into our home about 2 years ago and ready for a number of jobs to be done but didn't know who to call.  We found Ray's reviews on Angies List and he sounded like a great fit for what we needed done.  He came right out after we made contact and got back to us quickly with an estimate that we found to be more than fair.  Ray is great and we were happy we didn't have to hire several specialists to get them all done.  All the work was done perfectly and the house was left as clean as it was when he arrived.  We're starting a new list and will be calling Ray again soon.
    We're very happy.
