It went great! Ken and I agreed on a short set of concrete stairs with a drain at the bottom landing. That drain and my downspout near the push-out window were both routed to my main run-off piping further down in the yard - work completed via excavation. I requested that nicely dressed landscape block create sidewalls along the concrete steps. The basement door made from metal. The work was outstanding and we couldn't be happier. Ken and his team did this work in 2.5 days!! I was astonished at the efficiency and diligence of his guys. He and his team were professional, courteous, shook hands and made eye contact. Every day they were there, they worked solid and at the end of the day the work-site was immaculate. Literally folded tarps and equipment stowed neatly. Unbelievable! It really made me feel like he and his group are grateful for the work and respect the folks they work for. The finished product speaks for itself - I'm proud to show this work to anyone. I built a very nice custom home (Costa). I wanted the work to be impeccable and not detract from the beauty and quality of our home. This work only added to the value. If I need additional work along the general construction lines (like an addition), my first call will be to Ken. Only sorry I couldn't get this written sooner! Many thanks!!

Went horribly. Tom told me he could get to my job in just two or three weeks. It was just now finished 3 months later. Retaining wall is not straight at all of you look at it from the end. The guys who were building it hit my house as well as a beautiful old brick planter box with their bobcat. He sent out a guy to repair it and it looked worse after he repaired it. Tom agreed to give me money back because of it, but now it looks horrible and will never look the same again. When I signed his estimate he assured me that planting grass after the excavation work was part of the deal. When it came time to plant he pretended he knew nothing about it and accused me of trying to take advantage of him. He eventually threw down some seed and straw but it was so sparsely seeded he might as well just have done nothing. I had to reseed myself. He left huge tire track marks in the back yard from the bobcat and never smoothed them out, just threw some grass seed and straw right over it. I had to call Tom probably 20 times over the course of 3 months. Whether it was trying to get him to start the work or to come resolve an issue, he would always say he was coming down then wouldn't show up. This happened probably 6-10 times where he promised he was coming or that someone was coming to do work and no one showed. He wasted a lot of mu time. No calls or heads up that there was a change of plan. The only good thing I can say is that they did a good job on the driveway and resolved some storm water issues I was having. Outside of that, by far the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Don't waste your time or money on people who lie.

Our house had an existing french drain system done by a different company that was failing.  We got estimates from both Champion and Bakers to tear out and replace a portion of the french drain and the quotes were within $100 of each other.  We liked the idea of a more traditional french drain system as opposed to the flush mount drain system that Bakers offered.  We let Champion know that we were going with them.  They were able to quickly schedule the job within a week or two.  They even found a crew to do the job for us on a Saturday, as it is difficult for my husband to get off of work.
They arrived exactly when they were supposed to and took care to cover carpeting and put up plastic dust shields where necessary. They were both very nice and professional.  They ran into some difficulty with the job when they discovered a section of the concrete floor that was about 10 inches thick and the jackhammer was having difficulty getting through it.  It took them about 8 hours to get through that section but they kept at it and didnt complain.  I cannot speak to how well the system is working because the concrete isn't 100% dry yet and we havent had a big rain to test it.
There are a couple minor issues I will mention but I dont think they are a very big deal.  During the quote, the sales rep had mentioned that the block would be sprayed down with a product to kill any mold.  I saw no evidence of this being done.  The wall membrane that Champion uses is 4 feet high instead of the typical membrane that is less that 12 inches.  I dont really see the need to have it so high when water should only be leaving the bottom row of block where the holes that been drilled for the system.  I dont like the idea of not being able to see the block due to this tall membrane.  The system could be failing and evidence of the wet block will be hidden behind this membrane.  They also did not seal this membrane to the block wall with any kind of caulking.  Our last system had done this and I cant be sure, but I think during the sales pitch they said that they would do this.  I guess my husband and I will do it ourselves so we can be sure that he moisture is trapped within the drain system and not creating damp air throughout the basement.  Our sales rep also mentioned that some of the exterior mortar joints needed some work on the effected corner of the house and that they would work on them for us.  This was never done.  I think that there might have been some lack of communication of the finer details of the quote from the salesman to the crew.  And my last minor complaint is that they dust curtains were put up with duct tape.  When I took them down they left adhesive on our wood trim and it actually ripped off a section of paint/primer from our drywall down to the paper facing.  We will have to work on these areas to get them back to their previous state.
Overall I think that the work was completely properly and the service we received was great.  As mentioned, there were more minor issues I had but nothing that should deter anybody from going with Champion.  We used their financing option (6 months same as cash with WellsFargo card).

The representative came out and did a thorough check of my basement to see if there were any leaks.  We found that there were none, and that my sump system was working properly.
