  • I was extremely impressed with the service that I had received.  Brent and his guys were polite, punctual and professional.  From the repair of the patio that went perfectly to the yard cleanup.  I can not find one bad thing to say.  They definitely were perfectionists.  Some of the work that was done that I deemed acceptable because of the age of the patio were redone the next day due to the fact that the person who did it, did not like how it turned out and redid the repair on their own volition.  I would recommend them for any job that they provide.  As a matter of fact I have already done so to my neighbors.  Thank you Brent,  you have a great Company.

  • This was one of the most bizarre experiences, home repair wise, I have ever had.
I have a gutter I wanted replaced. I buy this Angie's List deal. He cited in the ad how much gutter could be replaced with the deal.
He called at one point and said he'd swing by Tuesday. I said no hurry.
Tuesday came and went. That's fine.
Wednesday I was out all day. I come home,. There was a card stuffed in my door from him. I then get e mail and find out he had taken it upon himself to repair and clean whatever he felt like doing. He never asked me what it was I wanted done. I assumed we would discuss it Tuesday, that that was going to be a preliminary meeting.
He repaired, partially, the gutter I need to replace. So, that was a waste. Other things he did I have a helper angel who does for me.
I needed him to do what my helper couldn't.
I expressed my dismay and his reply was that he didn't have any work in the area. But, when he did he could do it, but it wouldn't be covered by the coupon.
Just bizarre. I told him it was like he'd gotten a pizza coupon and the pizzaria decided he liked pepperoni and delivered it when he wasn't home.
    Just bizarre. Not happy!!!
Here are the exchanges, in case that is helpful.
    Hi Patricia,
cleaned tops of gutters, leaf guards. cleaned lower roof/ debris on leaf guards. fixed endcap on garage. you still have galvanized gutter on antenna side of house. at some point this should be changed out. upper back right corner leaked and fixed. Almost had a come to Jesus meeting with your neighbor. Couldnt put my trailer up your driveway. too tall. I walked and parked on her grass. directions were good.

My jaw is on the ground here.
I appreciate you fixing the corner that leaked and what you did.
However, you never said you were coming.
You never asked what it was I wanted you to do with my coupon.
I had bought the coupon to hire you to replace that gutter that you said needs to be swapped out.
I have someone that cleans my lower gutters and was going to do some of the repairs you cited.
It's been a long day here. I'm too tired to understand all you wrote.
Sorry for you near Come to Jesus meeting.
Ok , dont have anything in the area soon. (had one in new freedom yesterday) We can fix it. I will need to bring a taller ladder/ generator.
Probably more dollars then the coupon. Let me know when the neighbor is gone! I really dont need to see her again.

  • Mr. Armstrong was originally hired when he was part of the Angie's List Big Deal.  He was punctual and we walked around the yard and I told him I wanted all the beds weeded.  He took it upon himself to trim some of our hedges and bushes, which I did not ask him to do. He used a power trimmer, which we never use on bushes or hedges.  I just hope the trimmed bushes were not harmed in the process.  He was not able to get the beds weeded during the hours allotted for the Big Deal.  Despite this, I gave him a second chance and hired him to complete the rest of the work at a later date.  I informed him I wanted all the beds weeded, edged and mulched.    After many weather delays, we agreed on completing the job this spring.  He arrived on time and got right to work.  I guess each person has their own way of interpreting weeding and my definition is different that his.  He used rakes and cleaned the beds by raking everything.  In my experience, the only way to get weeds out is to get them by the roots.  He did a nice job hand edging the beds.

My biggest issue with Mr. Armstrong's job was that he underbid the job.  When he did the estimate, we both walked the entire yard and agreed which beds would be done.  At that point, he knew what shape the beds were in and how much work it would take to get them cleaned, edged and mulched.  He quoted $800 for the job.  When he departed my residence on 3/28/2014, he had only done half of the beds.  He was honest about underbidding the job and said that I got my money's worth, which was true.  Mr. Armstrong likes to remind folks he has been in the business for 10 years.  Since that is the truth, I would expect he would be able to give an accurate estimate for a job, especially after walking the property before bidding on the job.

UPDATE as of 4/12/14.  Now that almost two weeks have passed, I can provide an update on quality of work received.  Mr. Armstrong did not weed my beds as promised.  As I said earlier, he only raked out the old debris.  All the weeds that were in the beds are now coming up through the newly applied mulch.  The beds he did manage to do looked great until the weeds started coming through.
Mr. Armstrong requires that a contract is signed before any work is completed and requires half of the money up front.  He was contracted to do all the flower beds around the house and only completed half the job.  Technically I should have only paid him the initial amount as he failed to fulfill the contract that we both signed.  I have learned my lesson and will never have him do any more work for me.  If the price seems too good to be true it probably is.  I had to call another landscaper I have used in the past to come in and finish the job.  It will cost $1250, but at least it will be done right the first time.

  • It looks beautiful.  Brian's crew took out the old concrete slabs and put in beautiful red/grey pavers. The walk goes from our front steps to the driveway.
