Review: Basement Remodeling Service

Basement finishing, including: framing and hanging drywall (walls and ceiling), finishing drywall, baseboard installation, painting, electrical (outlets, recess lighting, and installation of a new sub-panel), and minor plumbing (repair/replacement of existing pipes and valves).

From start to finish, this was a great experience. Joe provided a reasonable quote and reviewed the job in detail, providing good suggestions on ceiling and lighting options. He actually preferred that we obtain the necessary township permits, which we found refreshing and positive compared to other contractors. All work was done according to code. While the permits lengthened the job due to some inspection delays, it was worth it to know that no corners were cut. Joe did most of the work himself and was almost always present when work was being performed. Communication was excellent. He always let us know what work was upcoming and informed us if there were any changes in work schedules. Joe used sub-contractors for electrical and plumbing, but he arranged everything and was present when they were working in almost all cases. We had a lot of pipes in the ceiling to be dealt with, and Joe did a great job designing and building soffits around them. This plan resulted in the main roof being as high as possible, with the soffits concealing the lower pipes. A few pipes were moved up to allow them to be contained within the main ceiling, but moving others would have been a much bigger (and more expensive) job. The soffits were well constructed and turned out to be a great compromise. Joe did not install carpets, but it was no problem to arrange this part of the project with a local carpeting company, and we scheduled the install right after Joe completed the main project. There were no hidden costs, and the final total was only slightly higher than the estimate due to a few small issues that arose. Joe was kind enough to help us out with our surround system install by running speaker wire and cutting out speaker holes. He also hauled away some old fluorescent lighting fixtures for us at no extra charge. Overall, we had a terrific experience and highly recommend Basements 4 Us and Joe Reaney. We would definitely use him again.

Unfinished basement that we wanted to finished off.

Wanted to finish off our unfinished basement for more living space. Lot of good reviews and references found on Angie's List. Contacted Joe and told what we wanted and he made a suggestions that would be better suited for our space. Used quality products. All of the material from drywall to lighting and paint were of very high quality material. Everything went very smoothly and professional and the job was done on schedule. Joe and his team also cleaned up every day after they left. Would work again with Joe and his team as they were very professional in all aspects of the job from start to finish. Will recommend and Joe and the Basements4us team to others that are looking to have this basements finished off.

Refinished our unfinished basement.

Joe and his team did a great job. They made several suggestions along the way and the project turned out better than expected. The suggestions his team made along with the professional work made us glad we had chosen Basements 4 Us. The project went smoothly and Joe and his team were very professional and timely. They cleaned up after the days work and never left anything out of place. Our new basement is beautiful and we can thank Joe for a job well done from the estimate to the finished product.

Refinished basement.

I already had the floor completed and most of the studs already in place. I had torn down the previously finished basement when I purchased the house, from mold. My basement was treated and was looking forward to getting refinished. Joe came out and gave me an estimate that was less than half of other estimates I had received. Within a week they started the job. I had some studs replaced, added insulation, green board drywall, as well as new ceiling tiles. The previous ceiling was hung incorrectly and they corrected it and it's as sturdy as rock. No worries of it falling now. They redid the electric and re-situated the ceiling lights. Much more effective now. I added another outlet after the drywall was already completed, and they didn't hesitate to add it without any issues. They also primed and painted the walls for me. I can't say enough of how quick and efficient they are. He and his crew completed the job in less than 2 weeks. They were very clean and listened to my ideas, as well as made some good suggestions. They are very professional and punctual, everyday when I got home from work was excited to see what they had completed. Would definitely hire them again. I have already suggested him to a few people.

We used Basements 4 Us to redo the walls and recement it.

They were kind of messy. The work they did looks good and the basement looks nice. After they finished, there were still some leaks so they came back and fixed those. They dropped some cement on the front lawn which they cleaned up but it killed our grass. We have a cement sink in the basement and they couldn't get in back of it. I had to move this huge cement sink and I am a heart patient. They got in back of it and finished plastering and then I moved it back again. When I was moving it, I noticed there was cement in the trap because they had used the sink to clean their tools so cement had gathered in the trap. They say specifically they don't do anything with plumbing but this wasn't plumbing. As a result one day when they came back we had water all over the floor because cement had gathered in the pump and it wasn't working. They offered to repair the pump. I said I would have a plumber come and repair it. They said they don't do it that way. They make their guys pay for it and do the work, which was a big mistake because they didn't know what they were doing. They were p*ssed off and they came on a Saturday and they had to buy the pump themselves. They kind of installed the pump. They left screws off and some things were missing. They got kind of p*ssy and left. Now we have a broken pump. I called a plumber in and he couldn't fix it so now I'm going to have to buy another pump. It didn't end well. Shawn, the boss, was very agreeable and came back to repair anything. They were very professional.

You have the wrong company. We do not do waterproofing. There was a waterproofing company in jersey name Basement R Us the same name we had but totally different company maybe it was them. We both had to change our name being toys r us lawyers said they have the r us as a trade mark, so we change to Basements 4 Us by Reaney Renovations and the other Basements R Us I think change to Basements love us.
