    ARS / Rescue Rooter Pittsburgh
When we moved in there was no air. We had them install the heat pump and ac unit. There was no ducts in the house so they had to put ducts in. They did a good job. It took about 4 days to install the complete system. They cleaned up after they cut holes in the walls and floors. They was efficient and product is good. THey was better on the pricing than others we had checked out.

Mark has been a very helpful and honest from day one. I had him give me an estimate months ago and he provided me tips and advice on installing new ductwork to make my home more efficient. He even ordered me quality ductwork(Since I did not have a corporate account) and I installed it myself. While I was going through the process of doing the ductwork I had a few questions and he took the time and patience to answer the questions I had. When it came time to order the furnace and AC he came to the house again and did a load calculation and determined the correct size furnace/AC for my house. It took him two days to install the furnace and AC. He was very neat and clean, and made sure I was comfortable in the operations of the equipment before he left. A++ JOB for sure!! I honestly feel that Mark took the extra time and effort and did the little things for me as if he was installing a furnace/AC in his own personal home.

The office people were friendly on the phone and answered my upfront questions clearly. The technician Cody took his time with me and explained everything he did. This was a pleasurable experience and I wish all contractors/companies were this nice to deal with.

    CITY PLUMBING HEATING & AIR
Since it was the weekend I knew this wouldn't be cheap. Sometimes it's difficult to find someone that will even come out. I had called 2 other HVAC companies before City. Both felt the blower was probably shot based on my description. One told me that since it was an off brand he probably wouldn't be able to get the blower until Monday anyway. The other said he could get it but because it was Saturday night the cost would approach $800. Then I called City. They sent Paul out. He got there before I did and already figured out that it was an emergency breaker inside the furnace caused by the furnace filter the tenant hadn't changed in a LONG time. Replaced the filter and tested. Everything was fine.

    Knoechel Heating Co
We have been having issues with my Lennox heat pump for about 2 years now. The pump continuously failed and shut down. Knoechel tried everything to fix it for us (the pump is relatively new). After about the third time the pump failed on us, Knoechel stopped charging for the service calls because this was happening so frequently. In January, they were able to finally figure out that a valve was malfunctioning and fix it. Fortunately, the valve was covered under our warrenty. Overall, I would recommend Knoechel because they tried everything to fix the pump (I'm not certain how I feel about Lennox). Everyone is very professional, prompt and courteous.

WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA GEOTHERMAL HEATING & COOLING
I contacted several contractors and WPG was by far the most professional and thorough in their evaluation and explanation - spending several hours at my house. The quote they produced was very detailed and informative and left their competitors looking like confused children. There were some initial problems with a planned subcontractor, but WP took full responsibility and straightened it out. They worked with me to meet my deadlines. They were always very professional took time at every step to ensure that I was satisfied.

The only very slight negative is that they are no so good with the paperwork. The initial quote took longer than it should have and likewise with the paperwork at the end. But they were always responsive when I pushed and in the end I received eveerything I expected.

I would give WPG a strong recommendation and would have no hesitance to work with them again.

    Yoder Drilling & Geothermal Inc

From a business perspective, I dealt mainly with the prime contractor. I dealt with Yoder only because they did the outside work as a subcontractor. The dollar amount above is only my rough estimate for the subcontractor share of the job.

They showed up when promised. Got all of the drilling (5 x 175 ft wells) done in one day. A week later, they came back and got all of the trenching and piping done in a second day.

They were flexible. They managed to thread the trenches and pipes in between existing trees to minimize damage. They unfortunately damaged 5 buried pipes (2 I warned them about, 3 no-one knew existed) but they took it in stride and repaired each one good as new. They went above and beyond to do a little extra work as a favor while they were here and would not accept any extra money for it.

They left the yard a mess, but they warned me several times about this (even with pictures) before I signed the contract, so I no way hold that against them.

There was a small dispute between the driller and the engineer. The engineer was correct (as I can verify because I am an engineer myself) but the driller did it his way. But he did compromise a bit when I pushed him to and quot;do it rightand quot;. This was not a major thing (or I would have insisted more strongly), but it may cost the efficiency of my system a small amount.

    Knoechel Heating Co
After looking for a highly recommended company on Angie's List, I phoned Knoechel Heating on the morning of July 6, 2011 at about 8:10A.M. asking for a technician to come out and check my A/C unit, which wasn't running correctly. I was pleasantly amazed that they were able to set the appointment for that very afternoon. I then received a call from them at about 9:45 saying that they could come earlier if I wanted. Joe arrived at about 10:10 and went right to work on determining what was wrong. He was efficient, professional and friendly. He cleaned the unit, replaced one part, and reconnected everything, making sure all was in good working order. I guess usually there is a wait for an appointment of up to two weeks, but I guess my luck was running high. I was also able to use a coupon that they offered for services on the Angie's list site, and Joe informed me that my electric company had a rebate offer covering A/C tune-ups. He filled out his portion of the form for me and explained what I needed to do. Once I recieve that rebate, I will only have actually spent $81 on the repairs! This was a great experience, and I am definitely going to call them to do a furnace tune-up for me later this summer! I would HIGHLY recommend Knoechel Heating to anyone in our area! Fantastic service and price.

Everything went very well. I haven't read anything but good things about John and his work on Angie's List and I parrot all of these. He s prompt, courteous, professional, did what he said he would, etc...But what I liked most is that John didn't try to gouge me. I am rehabbing a duplex to rent it out. Some contractors think Real Estate investors have deep pockets. But not only did John treat me fairly but he looked at the big picture. The duplex only has one furnace and I am paying for tenant s heat. He gave me some valuable insights on ways to save money. For example, we added a cold air return upstairs to help create more efficient air flow. He also suggested strategically locating the cold air return so that in the future I could install another heating unit in the attic and use the same cold air return and have tenants pay for their own heat if I decided to. I also insulated the attic to save money as he suggested. I think I got the best value for the money.

The overall experience was very good. First Distinctive Decks provided a consultation with good suggestion for finishing the basement. The estimate was detailed and clear. The workers are very professional with the their work and cleaning up afterward.
