Roofing reviews in Edinboro

The company came out to measure our roof and provided an estimate within two days. We agreed on the job and their crew was on site the next week. In two days they had the job completed. Very impressed with the professionalism of the entire crew...including the business owner (Tim Colvin) who was also on the job. They took care of a few additional minor repair issues (cracked pieces of siding that needed replaced), and did a great job of clean-up after the job. They worked hard to be sure we were happy with all the variables (shingle quality & color, trim painting, etc.). All in all, a first rate job. Would highly recommend them.

Bauer Specialty & LeafGuard of Lake Erie
I initially contacted the company last year in September/October about icicles forming on part of the roofline of our home. Being over 60 years old, I also wanted to get a quote on the LeafGuard product, particularly for the second story gutters as I'm not too thrilled about cleaning them out up at that height. The salesman who came out identified the icicle issue as being caused by inadequate insulation in the crawlspace of that part of the home. He also looked at the other part of attic where we had had foam insulation blown in a number of years ago. He said that it had been very poorly done and should be selectively re-applied to give a better overall insulation to the home. He took extensive measurements on both the insulation job and the gutters. He said he'd be back in touch with a quote "very soon". "Very soon" stretched into three weeks with no word, so I called and asked him what was with the delay. He said he would be hand delivering the estimate by week's end. Well...that didn't happen either. After another two weeks I sent him an email and left word by phone that I wanted the quote. I never heard from the guy. I was going to blow the company off and write a bad review on Angie's List, but thought that it may just be the salesman, not the company. So I drove the 25 miles to their business and asked to speak to the owner. He was very apologetic for the situation and said he would have a different salesman call me within the day. And before I got back to my home, Jim Moran was calling to see when he could come out to look at the job. Jim was out the following day as I recall, and had to totally remeasure the jobs so that he could quote it. The quote was in my hands by the end of the day! Now this was more like it. The price for the services was a bit of a shocker, but I was now getting good service. The crews who did both of the jobs were very professional. They arrived as scheduled. They were pleasant, worked quickly, with great care not to cause damage to the property or leaving behind any mess. The day after the gutters were installed we got a real cloudburst that delivered about 2" of rain in a very short period of time. The gutters were working extremely well except in one area. I took a brief video of the gutter overflowing and sent it to my saleman. The next day the installers were back out and re-engineered that area to solve the issue (or at least I think it is...I'll have to wait for another downpour to find out). I could not be more pleased with both of the jobs that Bauer Specialty completed for us.

The company was very professional and did a good job for us. They are not cheap, but did offer a discount for a combo job for both gutters and insulation. Their crew was meticulous and did a very good job with clean-up after the work was completed.

They were prompt in coming to take a look.  In fact, they showed up unexpectedly once (they messaged, but I hadn't had a chance to view it or reply).  I received a lengthy email with what the owner thought were the best options for the roof repair, however all of his options included increasing the pitch of our roof and other major infrastructure changes with raising windows and whatnot.  I responded and told him that we would just like to put a rubber roof on.  In his response email, he said that he thought a rubber roof was a good idea, but at the end of the email, he refused to perform that job because he didn't agree with it being the best option, though he thought it was a reasonable one.  Since then, we had a rubber roof placed on our flat roof.  That contractor took the rubber up the side of the house underneath the exterior T1-11, we have had several very hard rains, and we have had zero problems.  I really wanted to use this contractor, being former military, local and all, but I can't respect his response and I would not recommend him to any of my friends or family.  Sorry!

They came out and tore the roof off. Replaced with a metal roof. Soffit, facia and gutters. They came when they were supposed to. They cleaned up. Great company to work with. I would highly recommend them.

I was really happy with the quality of the work. I would be happy to give him a shout and and he would have more business. I referred him to neighbors in my neighborhood and I think my neighbors were satisfied with his work. I haven't heard anything otherwise. He is a good guy. Definitely recommend him. I like to support local business owners as opposed to big chains. I like to meet people first and if I can support a family business. I really like that. It didn't solve my ice problem completely but part of it has to do with the nature of my house. He is a general contractor and he has done some work for my neighbors. He painted my neighbor's house, the exterior of her house. He seems to know what he is doing and pays attention to detail. If you have an old house with special concerns that you can't know about until you start taking out the old covering and uncover some problems. I felt that he was very upfront about that about extra work that was needed to deal with that problem and he was in communication with me about how he would resolve that. I like that, I feel good about that.

My entire project started out as just an estimate to get my roof completely rebuilt. I had some serious sagging and garage roof needed a complete tear down. After speaking with a couple contractors, I figured I might as well go for the and quot;triple playand quot; (roof, windows, siding). Great Lakes Construction was one of 3 to give me a complete quote for all 3. I preferred to stay with one company to avoid scheduling conflicts, etc.. This entire project was a VERY big deal for me as well as a large investment. The staff at Great Lakes Construction made me feel very at ease and answered ALL my questions....believe me...I ask ALOT of questions. They never hesitated answering and knew my concerns for the project. The price was very reasonable (you get what you pay for - I am a firm believer in this). The crew was VERY efficient - they cleaned up EVERY day, not just the final day. This was a 2 week project....this includes a complete rebuild of a garage roof and all new sheeting on the entire house as well as sistering joists on the main house roof. I felt very comfortable with the crew working on my house while I was at work and I kept in contact if there were questions or concerns. From start to finish, it was handled extremely professionally. Courteous workers. Helpful salespersons. I would not hesitate to go toGreat Lakes Construction for any other needs. As a matter of fact, in October I ordered a new entry door from them and had them install it. New entry door had some scuffs on it - not sure if this happened during install or during shipping. Brought it to their attention, within 3 weeks it was replaced with a new one. Thank you so much Great Lakes Construction for the wonderful work and making my house look brand new from the curb.

    1) Our roof shingles were getting old and had strange mold stains on them. We contacted Doug Bierer and he gave us an estimate that was reasonable. He presented several options of styles and we chose the architectural style. He showed up with two other workers and completed the job within 3 days. At the end of each day, they cleaned up the area around the house... it was nice to not have our house looking like a messy construction site.

    2) Doug replaced the old siding on the front of our house to match an extension we had put on the side.

    3) We had Doug also replace our kitchen floor. He and his partner ripped up the old linoleum flooring and put down the new laminate flooring in one day. They expected to be done by 5, but ended up staying until 8:30 to get the job done. Again, he left the kitchen in clean condition. When some air bubbles appeared in the flooring, I called him and he returned within the week to fix the floor.

I was extremely impressed with his honesty, professionalism and high quality of workmanship. I've been recommending him to all of my friends!

    Payer Construction
The owners came to give us an estimate. Out of five companies that came, they were the most professional and spent the greastest amount of time explaining exactly what they would do. They went above and beyond what they were contracted to do by correcting blocked eve ventilation, repairing vent flow from bathrooms, adding more roof vents, and making present roof vents bigger for better air flow. We thought we needed more insulation, but when they went into the attic, they said we just needed better air flow. They used 6 feet of ice guard whereas most contractors only use 3 feet. They have lived in this area, so they are aware of the amount of snow that we get, and wanted to make sure we had no leaks (as we did previously). We thought we needed new fascia and fully vented soffit (as advised by another contractor), but they advised us to hold off on that until we see how the airflow was over the next winter. If we still needed to go that route, they would guarantee the price quoted now. It is seldom you find a contractor you can really trust, but rest assured, these guys are as honest as the day is long. I would not hesitate to use them again and highly recommend them to anyone needing a new roof.
