Housecall Mower Repair of Montgomery County
Excellent workmanship on a tractor that was in pretty bad shape. He meticulously worked on the machine as if it was his own. His knowledge and skill is the reason I am back on my tractor again. Very satisfied with his services.

Went well. Service tech arrived as planned and performed the service. It used to include everything needed to do the maintenance, but now things have been removed and priced separately, essentially doubling the cost at this point over the first year. I don't think inflation has risen 100% in fifteen years.

Gary scheduled the appointment quickly after I purchased it, and he gave me a two hour arrival window. He arrived in the middle of it, and to me that is good scheduling. I wish half the other people I deal with could narrow it down to two hours. He started it and noticed that there might be a problem with the carburetor due to improper storage with untreated gasoline left in it. I could hear the hesitation. He said he would try to clear it but warned me I might need a new one. To my happy surprise he was able to clean it up enough to delay any carb replacement, at least for now. To me this shows the sign of an honest man. He had me primed and acknowledging that I might need a new part, but he used his judgement and decided I did not need it right now...wait a while and see if the cleaning would do the trick. I would definitely hire him again. He was pleasant, professional, informative, and knowledgeable.

I had a bad experience with another local chainsaw dealer/repair place and when I went into Histand I was not a happy camper. Histand service folks took care of my problem quickly and efficiently and since it was a simple fix for them - said and quot;that one's on us - just keep us in mind in the future..and quot; It was a breath of fresh air after my other experiences. I'll definitely go back to Histand.

I picked it up a week later (they usually take a week to fix anything) and the bill was $170.  They said that in addition to the bar and new chain they had to replace the spark plugs and a bunch of other parts, the names of which mean nothing to me.  They had never called to ask me about the extra repairs.  I was annoyed but paid the bill because I had some tree work to do. I brought the chain saw home and it wouldn't cut anything - I Iooked more closely at the chain and it already had burn marks on it - it was obviously not a new chain.  When I brought it back to complain, they denied putting a used chain on it and showed me an old bar and chain and told me that they were my old bar and chain (as though this proved anything) and said that they would sharpen it for me (new chains don't need to be sharpened).   I took it home again and it wouldn't even start.
Just to be open; I had brought it there for new chains two or three times and although they are very slow and in general seem like they don't even try to impress customers, they managed to change the chains and get it back to me in working condition. Although the first time I ever brought the saw in for a new chain, they put the chain on backwards.
I finally went to Histand in Doylestown who also service chain saws and it was like night and day -- Histand is fast, professional, polite and didn't even charge me for the first service.

I am now stuck with a good piece of expensive equipment that I can't use.  I wasted $1,700 and will have to buy another  mower that is better suited for my yard.  It is clear that Moyer & Sons (who boast about their lenghty histroy of providing excellent service) has no intention of accepting accountability for this situation, and they are covering up the truth by saying none of the things I complained about ever happened.  If the mower worked as promised, why would I lie and say it wasn't working?  What could I possibly gain from that?  My impression is that making sales is more important to them than giving accurate, honest advice.  In retrospect, I should have gone to Lowe's or Home Depot: they sell the same products for less money, and offer honest, unbiased advice.  Save your time, your money, and prevent aggrevation.... don't do business with these people.

Owner was professional and knowledgeable. He tuned up the unit and repaired some gears that were not working properly. I am glad I had the work done. It was long overdue.
