American Dental would not clean my teeth without unnecessary and costly x-rays. When I first went to American Dental 12 months ago I had a full set of x-rays done at American Dental as well as had my teeth cleaned. After 6 months I returned for another cleaning. But upon my 3d visit, 6 months later the dentist refused to examine my teeth without another set of x-rays. Since the first series of x-rays did not show any cavities and I was not having any problems with my teeth I questioned whether another set of x-rays was necessary. I was concerned regarding the possible cumulative effect of x-rays to my health. American Dental indicated that it was their policy to require an annual x-ray of my teeth. They then said that if I did not have the x-rays done they would not clean my teeth. It would appear that American Dental is more concerned about their income than their patients.

I explained that I needed to know how much it is going to cost because I didnt have dental insurance. (They have a bizarre practice of not taking coverage information at check-in) She left with the information that I gave her and came back with a paper that had my costs on it I said to the dentist... this is what I owe? She said yes. I said this is really all that I owe? She said yes and pointed to the amount on the paper. I said if you are sure then Ill get it. I went back in 3 weeks for the permanent crown as I was waiting for the dentist, I see her very busy working on multiple patients again. The dentist popped over put the crown on and goes off to another patient. Before I leave I explain the crown is uncomfortable and is pressure sensitive. Im told it will get better and to call if it doesnt. I leave and later that afternoon the crown comes off. I called to go back in to have it put back on and am given 1 time on Thursday (next day) and then not until Monday. I explained that I couldnt come in at the time given as I had a meeting I couldnt get out of. I wasnt given any other options and told to do it myself. I asked how to do that and was told you can purchase stuff at the pharmacy. I later related the story to 2 other people that each work for different dental offices and they were outraged that my dental office wasnt more accommodating. I got the crown on and it stayed on until November. I called for an appointment to have the crown replaced and am able to get in the next day. This time the dentist throws the crown in my mouth along with a cotton stick and tells me to bite down but it wasnt even on my tooth. She looked at it again, put a little more care into it and again am told to bite down. After a period of time a new dentist came over and took out the cotton and was scraping the excess glue from around the crown when it came off again. The new dentist took the time to actually put it on correctly and explained that I have a lot of saliva and the area needed to be dried more. I left and at the desk was told I had a balance because I didnt have dental insurance. I explained that I knew that I didn't have insurance and provided that information to the dentist and was given a rate that I paid. She didnt have any other details and said someone would get back to me and said I could leave. First, I found the entire experience extremely unprofessional. Second, I found the fact that information I provided to the dentist wasnt passed on when I asked for the cost information. I understand she (the dentist) was busy and I dont know if she went up for the cost info or sent someone up but in either case I told her I didnt have insurance but it doesnt seem to have been passed on to the people giving out the pricing. You have the patient in a vulnerable position so when you provide information to a representative of the office you trust theyre passing it along to get you the correct info. Third, at no time when I checked in or left in November did anyone tell me there was going to be a fee for the visit. Whenever I had a crown put on before there was no charge. So imagine my surprise when I got an outrageous bill ($900+) for services that I already paid for believing I had been given the correct info and then they tacked on an additional charge for replacing the crown. Be Forewarned if you decide to go there....

I like my dentist but he is very expensive. I have special problems and whatnot so you need a good dentist. He has a very different personality but if you can get by that, he is very caring, kind and takes a great deal of pride in his work. He is a good dentist. I had actually  two  abscessed teeth and he came in on a Sunday morning to look at me. They are all there treating 2 or 3 different people at the same time but still it is okay and he spends the time with you that he has to. There are really nice people working in there. He is so expensive but I guess a lot of other dentists are the same way. It is very convenient. I just put stuff on my credit card and then I pull up medical expenses at the end of the year and there it is. And they do take credit cards.

Dr. Steve has been our family dentist for 4 years.   The office staff is very nice and the environment is pleasant.  I have had cavities filled and a few crowns.  He always makes sure I am comfortable and not in any pain.

I would highly recommend her. She is really good. Her staff is really good. Its friendly, clean, and professional. I feel like I'm home and she's personable. If I have a problems after hours she will tell me to meet her at the office. She has done that for me. If she can't do something she will get me to a specialist if needed.

He's been our dentist for 15 years. He's a great guy and you can really trust him. He won't suggest anything that you don't need and he will discuss options with you. The office staff is very nice, polite, and professional. Scheduling appoints is no problem, and he's also available for emergencies.

I have been going here for about 6 years. They are a no Mercury practice which is why I chose them. I generally see Dr. Valen when I go here. He is very good at what he does. He is absolutely excellent! He is very understanding with my sensitivity to dentistry. He is very compassionate. I am very happy with everything he has done and I have had major work done.

He is gentle. He is confident. He is kind. He has a good sense of humor. He takes care to make sure you are comfortable. It's a solo practice. He has several dental techs that do the cleanings and x-rays and stuff. He is not like super high tech but he is good. I have not had any problems. You can get in. He will make sure you get in. For your regular checkups that could be a little tougher sometimes but if you end up having to cancel for some reason so that would be like I guess overall would be a "B". The important one when your teeth hurting or broken you can generally get in within a day or two that is what is most important to me. He is in an older building so he doesn't have the great ambience that you would have in somebody who is in a great big modern shinning place. Everything is clean. The people are friendly. Its gives me everything I want I do not care if it is all shiny new. Their care keeps it up. I know he goes to seminars and stuff to keep current on techniques and so forth. Very good punctuality. Unless there is some kind of a dental emergency you are usually in within a few minutes of the appointment time. Superb chairside manner. He has got excellent sense of humor. You can feel comfortable and joke around with him. Communication, I never had any problem. I have been going to him for probably about 25 years. If you ever do have a problem with your filling when the anesthetic wears off or if your filling does not feel right feels high or whatever he will definitely make time for you to come in and say if you only file that down a little or whatever. He is great with making sure that everything is good and when he does something it stays in, you do not have a crown fall off two weeks later or something. They have good dental insurance and they submit everything fine. I do not think I paid him a cent in years they handle all the insurance matters perfectly.

Dr. Richard D Heacox is a good dentist. His office is really prompt. When I get there, there's no waiting. When he says he will see me at 10 o'clock or his hygienist will see me at 10 o'clock, that's when they see me. I'm in and I'm out. The office environment is great. They're all good. I've used them for 10 years.
