Chimney Repair reviews in Dallas

  • Mr. Rother and I met the day before and discussed work to be completed and the cost. He and his son came the next morning and finished up everything before it was dark. Both gentleman were professional and offered plenty of discussion about the work to be completed making me feel very comfortable with the work to be done on my house. He even offered me a discount after examining the chimney while doing the work (damage was not a bad as expected). I appreciated his honesty. I would recommend Rother Masonry to other friends and family.

  • I called him for a "chimney inspection".  I should have asked for a free estimate.  I explained over the phone (and in person) that I already had a chimney inspector (and a home inspector) come out to take a look at the chimney and fireplace for a house my husband and I just purchased.  He is not a "Chimney Inspector", but he still charged me $100 to look at the chimney and fireplace.  We had to call each other several times before he arrived.  He was late for the appointment.  He was pretty polite and an alright guy, but he repeatedly said how much he hates chimney/fireplace work.  He explained (and showed) me (and my husband) the issues.  He helped me up the ladder to the roof.  He estimated it would be substantially less than the Chimney Inspector to repair.  He then seemed more concerned that my roof will need to be replaced within the next year (or two) more than the chimney/fireplace.  I explained my brother is a mason, and may end up doing the chimney work, and he explained what he needed to be done.  Again, he was an alright guy, but I was a little upset he charged for a estimate called a "chimney inspection", when he is not a licensed Chimney Inspector (which is technically my fault for not requesting it as free estimate).  I requested paperwork to provide to the seller to explain the chimney/fireplace was not in working order, as the seller's disclosure stated.  It took Mark over a week to fax me the paperwork.

  • Purchased our house in 2003, had the roof replaced due to storm damage and a leak in our attic in 2004. Not long after the roof was replaced I was in the attic and noticed that water was soaking the wood around where the roof and chimney met. For the next 8 years we had the roof and chimney worked on multiple times by multiple roofers and chimney repairers and still had water soaking the wood. As time went on it was getting worse, we even called in a specialist to a**** the problem. On the specialists recommendations we first tried the less expensive roof repair again -which didn't work, and then we focused on the chimney. After getting estimates that ranged from $2,500 to $10,000 plus to do the chimney repair, we had a neighbor recommend Young's Masonry. Roger Young came out and gave us a detailed, professional looking, extremely reasonable estimate and we hired him to do the work. The workmen came out when scheduled, set up scaffolding, informed us that the past work that was done on the chimney was done incorrectly, repaired my and quot;chronic 8 year nightmareand quot; leak, and then cleaned and sealed the chimney so well that it almost sparkled. It has now been 8 months since the repair and still no leak. Young's Masonry did a fantastic job! I couldn't recommend them any higher.

(Update) October 2013 - Attic area still dry and leak free.

  • We had Mark at our house earlier for some roof repair and while there I asked him to take a look at our chimney that was losing mortar and showing its age. He gave me a price for the repair and did the work the following week. The job was done in a day and everything went smoothly with absolutely no problems. The chimney looks good again and will hopefully last a long time. I would recommend giving him a call for your home repair needs and I will do the same when I need something in the future.
