  • Initially I gave Service Mark a great review, but after getting an estimate from them for a hot water heater and subsequently finding out that they didn't install the condensation line for the heater correctly, I have to say I would not do business with them again. Their salesman told me he had never seen a 4" chimney liner for a hot water heater before. He told me I needed to have the liner replaced leading to a $2400 estimate for a hot water heater and new chimney liner. I ended up having another company install a new hot water heater for $800 using the existing 4" liner, they also let me know that 4" liners were very common (they said the Service Mark guy was either lying or didn't know what he was doing). They also didn't install the condensation line correctly on my heater. When I went to sell my house the U and O inspector told me that the condensation line was not allowed to drain into the sewer line, it's supposed to drain outside. I called them to see if they would fix this, but they never called me back. I would not recommend using this company and have no plans to work with them again.

  • Well they are just reliable and the technician's that come out twice a year whether it's to get the furnace ready for the winter season or the A/C for the summer they just seem to really know what they are doing.

  • Duffey is a good example of why small businesses are getting taken over by the larger providers.  I am all for giving my business to a small business, but not when you have to sacrifice quality.  Duffey was good at providing the basics, but when you ran into an issue they were not responsive at all.  It was almost as if they thought if they provided a bad enough customer experience I would just go somewhere else.  If that was their goal, then they succeeded, since I ended up giving my money to one of the larger HVAC operations.  If this place wants to stay in business they should take some customer service 101 classes to learn what customers expect from them.  A good starting place would be not making customers call 5 times before calling them back and following up with customers to make sure they have what they need to keep their house heated for the winter, especially when they have a service contract with you.

  • Called Mainline Plumbing Services mid-morning and spoke with Tom to set up visit by a technician.  He quoted me a $49 service fee plus the cost of services; it seemed reasonable so an appointment was made.  He mentioned that the technician just finished his first appointment and was heading to his second job and I would be the third.
    The tech arrived a few hours after the appointment had been created; early afternoon which I found to be very reasonable.  Tom called to inform me that the technician was on their way to the house; he is very good at communicating with customers.
    Upon arrival, the problem was explained to the tech who is very outgoing and seemed knowledgeable.  He felt that snaking the line would clear the blockage and hoped it would not be anything more than that.  He quoted a price for the work: $349 + $49 Service Fee.
    While the price seemed high for snaking a drain, I agreed to have the service performed out of convenience since he was already there.  I had nothing to compare with the price at the time.  The job was completed in less than an hour and the drain is clear.
    Having read several reviews after the work had been done, it seems that the price paid may have been high for the services rendered.  The clean-out at the house is easily accessible for servicing the drain.  I can appreciate that plumbing is a skilled trade; I will let you be the judge.

  • Provider double booked the original appointment so they sent a different guy out about 15 minutes late which wasn't a huge deal.  Bob was nice, knew exactly what I wanted, listened, and provided adequate solutions for what I was trying to correct.  My only complaint is the price, which is becoming the norm for contractors operating in the hot real estate market of Conshohocken.  

    Consider the following:

    I provided the humidifier and all the parts needed.  You can find multiple A rated Angieslist HVAC companies providing a humidifier AND doing the install for roughly $450.  I was quoted $410 for just the labor.  As I pointed out to Bob in my email, every other provided said it would be about 2 hours labor.  $210 an hour to install a humidifier? Seems a bit off.

    That leaves us with $795 of the original $1205 quote.

    The Aprilaire purifier model 3210 can be found online for a retail price of $169.00. So, $626 for materials and labor.  From talking to Aprilaire and the other HVAC quotes we received, the consensus is that it's about a 3 hour install job.  Right around that $200 an hour labor rate for HVAC, which is quite a bit higher than the average.

    In the end all other quotes we were given ranged about 30-44% cheaper and all came from other local Angieslist A rated HVAC companies.  Good people, possibly great work, but if you know your prices then you will know you can find much better elsewhere without sacrificing quality, regardless of what Unique Indoor Comfort may try and imply.

  • At the end of the day on a Friday, I realized my water heater had a slow leak coming from the pressure valve.  I don't know how water heater was leaking but enough to make puddles on my basement floor.  I started to panic as I thought I wouldn't be able to find a company to come out after 5 on a Friday.  I called Water Heater Express and Steve answered the phone. We discussed the cost of the visit at that time and if I waited until Monday.  I wanted the water heater fixed right away.  Steve arrived at my house within 30-45 mins and fixed my water heater.  It cost me $225 for the immediate call, $28 for the broken valve and then I purchased a water sensor for another $35.  He instructed me to put a water bottle under the pipe in case it leaks again and then to put the new water sensor right next to it so I will be aware of an issue if it occurs int he future.  He was able to fix the issue very quickly and was very accommodating.  I would definitely use him again.

  • If there was a higher rating, I would give it. I was blown away by their professionalism. The background story: I had an awful experience with a home warranty subcontractor. He gave me a story about having to clean the whole unit, the warranty wouldn't cover the maintenance, and the cost would be $600 plus the $100 warranty service fee. On top of that, he was rude, dismissive, and condescending. When Scott from Signature and his partner (I cannot recall his name, unfortunately) arrived, I was greeted warmly. They walked me through their whole diagnostic process. I relayed my experience to them, and they explained how the subcontractor's diagnosis was completely bogus. The home warranty guy talked about a 3-4 hour cleaning job, and Signature was finished in 20 minutes. All I needed was refrigerant and a new capacitor, a $400 charge versus $600 that would've solved nothing.
    These guys know how to go above and beyond too. I originally purchased a coupon from Angie's List for a $20 diagnosis and set my appointment for two days from then. Signature called the next day to tell me they didn't cover my area. Angie's List reimbursed me for the coupon, but surprisingly Signature showed up for the appointment anyway. Scott explained the new guy made a mistake in cancelling the appointment. Since I'd been refunded the coupon, they waived the diagnostic fee altogether. It was an honest mistake - I wasn't even upset about it - but they still made up for it. That says a lot about a company.

  • I was selling my home and the inspector noted leakage in my HVAC.  The two guys came and checked for leakage in the area of concern.  They were professional, on time, and honest with their findings.  i would definitely use them again.  And they found no leakage at all which saved me a ton of money!

  • Went well, he told me that the voltage regulator was on its way out. he said it didn't need to be replaced immediately but its days were numbered. he gave me the price of replacing it and told me to call him when it breaks, he obviously suggested not waiting until it breaks to replace it though.

  • It went badly. See above comments. This plumbing company displayed a lack of responsibility by failing to keep two appointments. I will not attempt to use them in the future. Fortunately, Angie's list refunded my payment.
