Exterior Contractor reviews in Chesterbrook

John Herman of Thermal Sash Window & Door Systems is the worst contractor I've dealt with in my 30+ years as a homeowner. We contracted with him for a >$5,000 Sunair awning. He failed to correctly measure the size of our deck and ordered and installed an awning that stops about 1 foot short of the edge of the deck. Three of the four awning support brackets were not installed into joists (as specified in the contract), and the brackets have now pulled the soffit about 1" out of plane in three places. The result is that the awning, when fully projected, is about 1 foot lower on one side than the other. There is an unremedied problem with the side panel. John Herman has refused to take any responsibility for any of these problems. My only remedy now is Small Claims Court. This is the first negative review I've ever posted for any product or service.

    Armando's Stone Work Inc
Armando was responsive and communicated frequently and well. The pricing was fair and and he was very conscientious. He rebuilt a deteriorating flagstone walkway very well and in the timeframe agreed upon.

    Nolan Painting
Kevin, our Estimator, was involved throughout and made sure everything went smoothly. The crew was terrific and helpful in every way. They provided a color consultant and the painters provided valuable insight when the trim color we initially chose didn't quite look right when they started painting the trim, they took the time to let us know their thoughts and worked with us to get the perfect match. They also went above and beyond...When we lost power during one of the Summer storms, they offered to leave their generator and ample gasoline with us so we could at least keep our refrigerator running! Definitely will hire again!

    Plymouth Nursery & Landscape Co
We are very pleased. They provided a detailed full-color rendition of the materials and plan prior to starting the job, and were very flexible to accommodate our vision. The crew was punctual, very polite, and diligent. When the job was completed, I must say it exceeded our expectation, as I never envisioned this house could look so special! I'm looking to engage Plymouth again shortly for some more work on our property.

    D&D Tile & Stone Co
Mr. DiTomo only partially performed the work specified in our contract. In the middle of the job, for unspecified reasons, he ceased work, stopped showing up and refused to communicate with us. Subsequently, we discovered that his work was defective and we had to have torn out and completely redone by another, reputable contractor. We paid him for work that was never completed and materials that were never provided to us, and incurred additional costs to demolish his work and start again with a new contractor (approx. $12,000+ in total). We have a default judgment against him in Magisterial Court (he never showed up). We have yet to get a single penny from him or even the courtesy of arbitration through the Attorney General's Office or other means. I would recommend you find another tile installer. This individual is not trustworthy, and has created a lot of stress and financial difficulty for our family. We have worked with many contractors over the years and have never had an experience like this.

    Davis Painting LLC
First of all, Davis Painting is extremely well organized. (We had previously had them power wash both porches.) Previously the floors had not been properly painted and the steps had not been treated at all, so they needed sanding and primer as well as paint and stain. Colby, the owner, explained how this would be done and made sure the color would match. He got us on their schedule right away. The crew showed up early and went straight to work. The result looked better than new! Their attention to detail was meticulous and it's evident that they take pride in their craftsmanship. We will certainly call on them for future painting needs and recommend them.

    Davis Painting LLC
Andrew and Kyle arrived at 8 am and got to work cleaning and flushing all the gutters on our 2 story house and garage. We have a lot of tall evergreens, so there was quite a bit of debris to clean out. After the gutters were done, they power washed the wraparound front porch and screened back porch floors and siding until they were spotless. We are very pleased with the result. They are coming back next week to stain the porch floors and steps, and paint a set of steel doors and the backyard fence. Davis Painting is extremely well organized, professional and a pleasure to work with.

We are purchasing a home in early August (Wayne, PA). The sellers have only been in the house for 2 years and moving for job relocation. During the stucco inspection we discovered there are a number of spots that need remediation. 2 of the same spots that were uncovered 2 years ago and were supposed to be under warranty with Murtagh Brothers. They received over 70k in remediation in 2016. We received a quote from 3 companies, Murtagh being one of them. We only wanted to use Murtagh for the spots they were "supposed" to remediate. Paul Murtagh emailed me asking when we would want the work done, and other spots as well, another 22k. I advised him we only want the spots under warranty to be corrected by their company at this time and after we move in. 3 emails, calls and ZERO responses. They are legally obligated to make these corrections and do it correctly this time. We will be looking to sue them next...

We were away while work was being done, He painted front door red without obtaining permission (and charged us) we only discovered this through pictures. Upon returning to hime, the basement got flooded (mistakes happen, was his apology,) Changed locks, plus left us a set of keys that belong to another house. No major disasters, but not a pleasant experience. Price on high side.
