    Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing
I would not recommend these people. I didn't get past the sales person but he was pushy at best. The whole process leading up to our consultation was such that I was asked 3 times by different people if I was REALLY going to be the only person at the meeting. I am a woman who owns a house by herself. Imagine that. They gave me the impression all along that they'd much rather deal with a man who would understand the very complicated business of basement waterproofing. The salesman then tried to scare me into what would happen if I didn't take their "patented" approach: My exterior would have to be excavated and sealed (price tag: $85,000), so as to make the number his tablet spit out for just regular waterproofing wouldn't sound so bad anymore ($25,000). He never showed me an itemized list of how the tablet magically arrived at this number, by the way. I thought it still sounded bad and told him I needed to get another few quotes before signing anything. He then became really unpleasant. I told him to email me the offer, which he couldn't get together. If a salesperson is unable to send an email, that doesn't necessarily increase my confidence in a company that's about to dig up my basement. A few days later, a rep from the company called me to tell me that they could do a significant decrease in price and that the boss himself would like to come out. He wasn't able to tell me just how significant this decrease would be. I declined. I ended up using a different company who charged me $15,000 for the same job and did fantastic work. Midatlantic called me again a few times and were really surprised that I had taken my business elsewhere. Overall, unprofessional and pushy. I would not recommend them.

I will say that I was a bit anxious going into this. I had met with another basement waterproofing company before and felt that they were really fishy and pushy (but that's a story for another review). So I was worried that these people would all be a bit dishonest and trying to screw you over. I'm a single woman that many may feel could be a potentially easy target for scams. Not these guys. The salesman was courteous, on time, and knowledgeable. He didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need, and calculated the cost on a piece of paper in front of me so we could discuss as we went along. He applied a number of discounts and offered me an affordable payment option (half of the price when done with the work, and the remainder split up into six payments (post dated checks), at 0% interest). I had to reschedule the work once due to a snow storm and they were really flexible with my schedule. The workers were punctual and courteous. They put down a drop cloth and also cleaned every night after they were done (3 day project). The foreman was there every night when I came home from work to show me what they had done and on the last day, he explained the technical features of the sump pumps and the backup battery to me, again, without condescension because he was talking to the woman of the house. This is a sore point for me as I have encountered this many, many times from car mechanics to contractors of all kinds. The work they performed was: - Digging out a trench around the perimeter of my basement and installing a french drain piping system - Jackhammering out the floor of an entire room (floor was cracked and lifted up from water pressure from underneath, and pouring a new cement floor - Installing a window well to drain water otherwise entering through a window - Mold treatment of all the walls and beams - Removing an abandoned oil tank (which was a huge perk for me) - Installing two new sump pumps, one of which with a DC back up battery Overall, I was impressed with their professionalism, punctuality, and customer service. Oh, and the basement has been dry since. There have been rains and big snow thaws and I've heard water trickling in the french drain and heard the pumps coming on. But no more water in my basement. I would recommend these guys in a heartbeat and would hire them again!

Greg gave us a pretty thorough examination and description of the work to be completed during the estimate stage.  He seemed very knowledgeable and put us at ease.   He responded to our many emails and questions/concerns.     On the first and second day of installation, Reese and the other two workers arrived promptly.    He did a walk-through of the job and they went to work.   We had to amend the original plan slightly once the back walls were removed.   A vapor guard was installed against walls rather than just replacing the bottom portion of the sheetrock since there was great deal of moisture in that area.   We were agreeable to this change & there was no difference to the original estimate :))       Everything was cleaned at the end of the job.   Reese also discussed operation of the pump and gave us information to provide to an electrician.

Horrible experience. This was my husband and I's first major home remodeling project and unfortunately we experienced all the things you come to hate about contractors - a great salesman and set up in the beginning. They gave us a wonderful presentation that centered around high quality products and customer service. Then once money the was paid things started going down hill. First they started a week later than my scheduled start date which I booked (with a down payment) 4 months in advance. Once the team began working my complaints centered around 2 big areas: 1) Poor Workmanship - with a basement project everyday you get to see the progress and what was and wasn't done well. Consistently I would come home to find walls that were not being cut straight and as result are not flush, sections of the frames that looked bent or not straight, chips in the doors that can't be repaired. Anything we mentioned to them they would attempt to fix (by covering it up) but I don't think it should be your job to have to spend so much time inspecting and making sure they were doing quality work. In their company brochure they have a quote that states, ? Doing a thing right so you don?t have to do it over, will consume less resources and cost less than doing it twice or more.?  They don't live into this. 2) Declining Customer Service - as I said in the beginning they put on their best behavior but that went down week after week. In the beginning we would get calls at the end of each day on what was accomplished and what was planned for the next day, that stopped after awhile. They started taking less care of our home, including leaving cigarette buds in the backyard. Slow progression of the project. I know its a known fact that project will always be longer than what a contractor tells you. What I didn't like here though was how each week the time they spent in working each day kept decreasing. If they stayed committed to putting in a full day work each day the project would have not extended 2 weeks past the originial timeline.
What I can say positive about the company is that the product they use, these Everlast Walls, does seem like a high quality product. It looks nice, seems to provide good insulation and to date we have not had any water issues. A quality product that is not backed with quality customer service is not worth the money to me though - especially $50,000.
To show you how the poor customer service extends even after your project is complete. They finished our basement in May and I had a issue with a light dimmer installed since then. My husband and I have been calling them for 3 months now trying to get someone to come out and fix it, We've left messages and can not even get a call back. Again they are not living into what their website says - we take pride in the company?s good reputation and a personal interest in the satisfaction of our customers.
    Don't use them.
