How to Make Kitchen Appliances Last Longer

Appliance Repair reviews in Chalfont

The "repairman" came to my house to fix my Whirlpool washing machine. $240 later (including a $100 "service" fee") the machine seemed to work fine. Less than two months later, I had to call them again for the SAME problem. After 30 days, they can charge you again!!! This time, they waived the fee and told me the same problem was "fixed" (again). 16 loads of wash later, the machine malfunctioned AGAIN!! Of course, now they wanted to charge me again!!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!! They will rip you off!!

The 2 men were friendly and worked quickly.  The cost is adjusted on site for extra labor that could have been asked up front like do you have a stackable washer/dryer, are they efficiencies, etc.  But increase was not drastic in our case.  If it was a larger problem, the increase could be a deterrent for folks.

Just to come out and give an estimate cost $100, so by the time they told my wife how expensive their service would be we were already out 1/3 of the cost of replacing the appliance. By the time they were finished replacing one burner, we could have bought a whole new stove, or at least 90%.
Labor charge was $189. Actual work time to replace the burner took about 10 minutes, but they sent 2 technicians which I don't understand. There was no need to move the appliance which they already knew from the estimator, so why send 2 techs and charge an hour of labor which is a ridiculous $189? I understand that their labor charge must cover 2 trips in total (estimator and then technician) but it still seems unreasonably high.
Cost of the burner was $139.00
Replacement burners cost $85 - $100 on, so that's about a 30% markup on the cost of the part.
    Again; ridiculous.
The reality is that they gave my wife an estimate and she accepted, and the final cost was exactly what they estimated, so I guess I can't complain too loudly. However, we will not use their service again and I would not recommend them based on cost alone. I would recommend to shop around for a new appliance instead of using this company for repairs.

    Bill Vandegrift Inc

I have purchased new appliances (dishwasher, refrigerator) and had old appliances (washer, dryer, refrigerator) repaired by Bill Vandergrift on several occasions over the last 5 or so years. Whether it's Daryl, the salesman, the installers, the servicemen, orthe schedulers, everyone there has been professional, courteous, responsive, and honest, and the prices reasonable. I am stunned, quite frankly, by the negative reviews because I have never had anything but a positive experience here. This morning I explained that I was desperate, that my washing machine had broken down while I was having a lot of other things going on (car trouble, for example) and someone was here to fix the washer within the hour. It's a very old Maytag Washer and, a couple of belts (and one removed child sock later), it's back to working much better than before.

This business is currently located at 902 e Pennsylvania blvd Feasterville pa with prior locations in phila at damar dr and 444 comly. They were contracted to do an extended warranty repair through lowes on my dryer. They showed up and "fixed" it. My husband immediately did wash and it did not work. He called the company and spoke with the manager Ramon. Ramon stated parts needed to be ordered and we were put on the schedule for today. That was great considering I have 5 kids and laundry was very backed up. My husband called for a time frame and Ramon accidentally put us on the schedule for Monday. It was unacceptable and he had every excuse in the book. I told him I read the poor reviews the company had on yelp and four square and he denied they were at the damar dr address. (Which is funny because the complaint mentioned him by name.) I informed him I was calling lowes and hung up. He called back and said he was canceling out service for Monday. Extremely unprofessional

    NTHill Home Renovations
Tom remodeled our kitchen. We had an ugly, closed-in 1970's kitchen. We wanted to gut the kitchen, and open it up by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. A friend referred us to Tom Hill. He and Sue, his kitchen designer, came in and did an amazing job listening to our needs. They quickly came back with several design options, and reviewed them with us in our home over a few productive meetings. Tom was very thorough to inspect the kitchen, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc. before giving us a quote to make sure there were no surprises. We had two other well-respected local kitchen contractors come in and provide designs and quotes. Tom and Sue came up with far better designs, and better pricing, a were very accommodating about the timing of the project.

Once we finalized the design, the cabinets were ordered and delivered exactly on the timeline. All the cabinets were accounted for and in good condition. Tom started demolition exactly when he said he would. He was careful to be neat and considerate throughout the process. In just a few weeks, he had our new kitchen back in working order. Everything was done with high quality and careful consideration for detail. Tom really knows kitchens!
Tom handled all the demo, construction, cabinet installation, electrical, lighting, plumbing, appliance installation, and trash removal.

I handled purchasing the appliances, flooring, and backsplash, and installed the floor and backsplash myself because I like doing that kind of work. I also paid directly for the cabinets.

Overall, the project couldn't have gone better, and Tom and Sue could not have been better to work with. I highly recommend contacting Tom for any remodeling project you have.

    Tim's Appliance Repair Inc
Called on 4/23 to report that my refrigerator / freezing wasn't producing ice / keeping cold enough. Tim had availablity that afternoon, but I scheduled him for the following morning. He arrived right on time, checked the fact that frost was building up inside the freezer and stated only three things could cause that. Unfortunately, the circuit board was determined to be the cause. Didn't fix the part due to the age of the appliance and purchased a new one. Tim was very honest, professional and up-front. Would definitely use his services for appliance repair in the future....

    AL Landis & Sons
I called Landis at 9:00 on the Friday before the holiday weekend, thinking I wouldn't get a call back until the following week. My call was returned within 45 minutes and after listening to the problem, told me what he thought it probably was and what it would cost. He came out that same afternoon, the problem was just what he thought, he fixed it and was gone within 45 minutes. The cost was also the same as what he gave me on the phone. A very pleasant, worry-free experience from start to finish.
