Siding reviews in Carlisle

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Working with Craig was professional and straightforward. He met with us twice and was actually to the house 3 times before we started the project. One for measurements, one to review the estimate and one to finalize colors and contract. There was good communication during the project and only 1 day did the workers not show up (and no notice was provided). The crew were polite and friendly. However, after some weeks have passed, it appears that Craig's mentality and work ethic didn't translate to the job site.
When the job was completed, Curb Appeal had As across the board from me. There were just minor things and I filled out his survey as satisfied with positive comments. As time has past and the excitement of having a house that looks nice has stopped covering for some problems, so my grades have gone down significantly.
It starts with fit and finish. Some mitered corners don't line up. Some trim pieces that should be flush are overlapping or in other cases gaped (not a professional here, but I think gaps are bad). Some areas that needed sealing or caulk didn't get them and others areas the caulk is obviously dirty. I know the trick of smoothing caulk with your finger, but your finger or glove shouldn't turn the caulk dirty?
Next, the work truck leaked something in the driveway that is either trans oil or engine oil because it won't come off. My driveway is already stained and needs attention from another spill, but that isn't an excuse. After a week of parking, it's a significant stain. I wouldn't visit a sick friend and then punch him in the stomach, so adding stains is just not professional.
During the estimate and contract sessions Craig mentioned using a lift system that attaches to the roof. I had serious concerns about this, but he stated several times that the lift attaches under a shingle row. After getting on the roof, my concerns were justified. They nailed through all layers of the roof and then filled the holes with caulk....seriously? That is not a roof repair and is not what I was told. I don't care if this system has been in use for 20 years, tell the truth about how the crew will mount the lift and then repair it with proper LIFETIME roofing products, not 3-7 year silicon caulk globbed in the holes.
I'm not sure if it was the siding workers or the gutter workers, but I found  broken singles on the roof as well. In almost 10 years I've never pulled or found a piece of shingle. This wasn't mother nature. The location and type of break indicates to me it was [accidentally] kicked and broke off. Other contractors that have damaged items during their project repaired or replaced them.
The gutters were sub-contracted to "The Gutter Guys" and I'm tempted to leave another review for them. Do not use them. The gutters are holding water (about 1/4 - 1/2") and at EVERY SINGLE  bracket the gutters are scratched! Double negative.  This is lazy and sloppy. It's going to impact the life of the coating because someone jammed the drill in the gutter when attaching the brackets and  oh, gutters should drain! It's not obvious from the ground, so it was missed until I could get on a ladder.
Lastly, there was job site cleanup. This consisted mostly of picking up loose scrapes of product or tape from the yard. I don't believe anyone actually walked around and cleaned anything up. I've picked up countless nails and I know I'm not done.... the nails for the lift system were just tossed on the roof!! My dog has had multiple pieces of aluminum and vinyl taken from her in the yard and I removed more scraps from the roof that were just tossed aside. The roof and around the foundation is littered in white debris (the old siding and probably any paint underneath were white). On the last day I told Craig that I would handle cleaning up any mess in the driveway since it had been raining and would be stuck in the asphalt pores. Once it dried I would vacuum it,  I guess somehow that translates to not cleaning up anything.
We bought an older house and knew there would be expensive projects. Fireplace insert with chimney lining, driveway paving, Central A\C retro fit, Well pump, tank & filtration and after ~10years of work have never left a negative review. Projects aren't perfect and old houses can be challenging, so if there was just one thing or two things, this is an A+ job, but when I add all of the items up, I can't get past the problems with this kind of investment and outcome.

  • Everything went very well from start to finish.  The gentleman who came to provide the estimate was very knowledgeable and really steered me in the right direction.  Furthermore, they did an excellent job and stayed within my budget which I appreciated.

  • We R U told us the work was a 3 day job but it took 2 months.  We had to call 2 times on two different occasions after the first day of work to ask when he was coming to finish the work.

  • The siding was installed crooked which caused the awning to be installed crooked.  The roof was supposed to be charcoal black shingles and they installed blue shingles instead.  They switched the color of the roof without our consent.  We had to leave for military leave during the installation process and said that we were in neglect for leaving our house.  Their contracts also don't meet Attorney General Guidelines.  They also didn't use ridge cap shingles and used regular HD shingles and bent them over the ridge cap instead.

  • It was abandoned part way through a project by another person so I came to Angies List to find someone who could complete the job.  They came in and showed up on time and finished the outside. They sealed all the windows and doors. Completed sealing the roof to the side of the house. Finished installing the siding. The outside looks fabulous. Extremely pleased with their work. They are friendly and professional and get the job done right.  I will use them again to finish the inside. I highly recommend them.

  • He's a shady guy. I honestly dont want to narrate the entire event and relive it in my mind, just know he double talks and is shady. Finally the job was fixed, but ultimately it was made to sound like he was doing me a favor and paid out of pocket to correct it when in fact he didnt pay the gutter guy the first time for a crappy job, so when he 'paid out of pocket' for another guy to do it, in actuality he just paid for it to be done one time, so dont pat yourself on the back Mark. The only person who was out of  money was me until then. And I'm sure the 1000$ you paid someone else to do it the second time was a lot less than what I paid you to do it the first time. The gutters were just one issue. Get a building permit people. Thats my advise. Ultimately I'm happy with the job I guess, but it was a PIA.

  • First i called Easy siders and Rick came out promptly. We talked about the improvements i wanted to make. I wanted to have the shingles on house and garage replaced with new. My house had very little overhangs. I wanted my house to have 1-foot overhangs like my garage with new soffit and fascia .Rick gave me a estimate for all the work. And talked about trouble areas and found solutions. I am pleased with the final product. My house looks much nicer with the 1-foot overhangs. The work was completed fast and they managed to complete it all with out rain . Good planning or just luck you call it. The roofing guys worked hard. They were kind and considerate. My experience was a good one! But it is stressful for the home owner . But less stress if you have confidence in your contractor. I would use EASY SIDERS AGAIN!!

  • I want to like these guys.  The estimator came and measured my place.  He didn't seen to be concerned about the specifics of my job like some other estimators were.  I liked the guy.  He told me that his crew would take 2 days to do the entire job.  He called me later that day or the next day with some prices that I had to write down. I think we had a couple phone conversations.   I called him later that week or the next and asked for some references and a written estimate.  He said "we're all over town".  I can verify that based on their signs that they are all over town.  But regarding the question of the written estimate, it was as if I had asked for something unusual.  He said something like "yeah, I can probably write that up" and seemed befuddled that I even asked.  He told me he'd send me an estimate and I never got anything.  I was skeptical of the two-day promise for such a big job and when I didn't get any response at all.  My confidence was certainly diminished.  I'm happy to defend this comment but probably wouldn't hire the company because I never got an estimate or further response from the estimator.
I had no hail damage claim and was not trying to work with my insurance company.

  • They came right when they said they would.  They took off the damaged siding and moved siding from another spot on the house so the siding in the front would match and then replaced the area they used to harvest the siding.  They did an excellent job in matching the siding.  I would use them again!

  • We called in AJ Window & Doors for an estimate on repairs due to extensive hail damage to our roof and siding. With our insurance company covering only a fraction of the costs, we sought a business partner who would help us to make good quality choices while keeping costs in mind. Our first conversation was with their salesman, Derek, who provided great information and product recommendations and explained well how the process would work. Their estimate was very competitive (we?d had estimates from several other companies) and we were impressed with the quality of the materials they would use and the indications of how they work with clients. After signing on with them, we moved through the preliminary steps at a nice pace and work got underway on time. Ours was a large project and not quickly done so it?s worth mentioning, too, that we loved the crews they sent to work on our home. The guys were great?always polite and respectful, keeping the work site in good order?and, apart from delays for bad weather, the project moved along nicely. Throughout the process, Eve and Tom, stayed in touch from the home office and they visited personally at the close of the project to confirm that everything was done and done right. From the first phone call to the completion of the project, we were entirely impressed by their work and customer service! They will be the first we call for any work needed in the future!
We highly regard customer service and have an expectation of professionalism. All too often, contractors seek to ?get in and get out.? The people at AJ made us feel as if we were their family. The job was done well and we always felt as though AJ valued our business. When we were looking on Angie?s List for a company to handle our work, AJ came very highly recommended. I must say, that after working with them, the service and attention we received from Tom and Eve greatly exceeded those wonderful reviews. I have already recommended AJ to multiple friends and business colleagues. It?s rare that you find a company that performs beyond expectations and treats its customers so well.  AJ is one of those companies. I will entrust all the work on our home to AJ in the future.  I don?t think we could give any higher praise than that.
