Basement Finishing by Hartel Constr. Grp., Inc.
Martin is the BEST! He did an absolutely amazing job on our basement and we couldn't be happier. I shopped around, getting quotes from several other companies, and they were all so rude and acted like doing our basement was a waste of their time. I came across the Hartel Group, called after hrs to leave a message and to my surprise, Martin answered. We talked for several minutes about what I wanted done...he was so polite, he didnt make me feel like I was wasting his time. After meeting with him in person, getting a prompt quote, I decided to got with him. Everyday, he showed up when he said he was going to, cleaned up before he left and finished right on time! He kept us in the loop on everything he did and gave us so many other suggestions on little things we would have never thought of. I have included before and after pics here. Go with the Hartel Group and I promise you not be disappointed.

    Shreveco Building & Remodeling
We are really happy with our beautiful new front doors and the work that ShreveCos employees, Kevin, Larry and Greg did. Randy at ShreveCo helped us decide the type of door to purchase and even the color! He wrote a contract for the materials and labor that we reviewed and signed. It did take some time arranging appointments and then for the doors at HMI, a Philadelphia company, to be built and spray painted. Because we have an almost 100 year old Craftsman bungalow, we had to have a custom front door made. Home Depot, etc. didnt have the size nor style of dental molding (none) that we needed. HMI made a highly insulated fiberglass door with wood graining, 6 lights and no dental molding. Our back door was a standard size. We went with a wood grained steel door that was vertically half window. Both doors came pre-hung. Randy recommended that we purchase a standard Andersen storm door for the back and then he would install it. The Andersen order took longer than expected to arrive, pushing back the installation date. But ShreveCo was ok with that and even picked up the storm door for us. Our old house door openings were not square so a bit of extra measuring and custom trim sizing was needed, all done accurately and professionally. Its wonderful that our new doors are all airtight and open and close easily. The men moved the doorbell location and threaded a bell wire for us. The new doorbell button required a larger bore hole so Greg carefully made it larger. That was going the extra mile. The three men who worked on our house couldnt have been nicer and more professional and I felt safe with them in the house. They were industrious and their work was thorough. If either my husband or I had questions they were happy to answer them. The job site was left clean and neat at the end of each day. While the time estimate was 2 days, it took day longer mainly because of the extra work needed to fit our wonky door openings.

Action Door & Property Services LLC
The first time I scheduled repairs, there was a mix-up on the date (not mine but there's), so we had to re-schedule. However, since then, Action Door has been prompt and reliable. Everything works!! The caulking looks beautiful; the kitchen cabinet drawer looks and works like new; the patio screen door looks great and is finally functional; the faucets are doing the job perfectly. I was so impressed that I asked them to install a new garage door opener -- which, by the way, is awesome. I'm extremely pleased with Action Door and their workers. I'm having them come back to work on a shower door! My thanks to Dean Martin (owner), his son Austin, and all their staff.

    Hershocks Inc
Installer called to set up time to do the work. He showed up a few minutes early, and finished early. He tested/adjusted the doors and opener while I was present. I'm (still) very satisfied with the work. My one issue is with the office. I was required to pay a deposit when I returned the signed contract. However, neither the bill presented by the installer nor sent from the office later reflected that payment. Frustrating. Hershock's previously replaced all my windows and back door. Good prices and great folks doing the installation.

The door looks nice, but would prefer different sidelights. Unhappy with sales process. After project was finished I wished I had gotten different sidelights and had I had some time to think about it, (a lot of choices and options were presented in a short time) instead of being pressured to sign the contract because pricing is only guaranteed for a day or two, I'm sure I would have gone with the other option.

    Matesich's Quality Works
Everything went great again. Mark provided estimates and time frames for each job and showed up as promised. The work was professional, well done, and completed as estimated. I've already signed him up for some more this fall and winter.

Project went well. Andy Matter, the owner, worked very hard to get me the door I wanted. I wanted a feature not available with a standard door but Andy got the factory to make an alteration and made it happen. Who does that?! The door was painted custom colors to match my home and I love it! Andy was responsive through the whole process and kept me abreast of the progress since it took longer than normal for a customized door. He gladly fixed a number of little issues with current doors/locks, retrimmed an existing door, put new hardware on my screen door and replaced one window for me. His staff was efficient and courteous and had my new door installed in less than a day. Andy never said "no, that is not possible" which I love as I have had experiences where companies did what was required and were not willing to deviate from their standard way of doing things. Any issues were addressed promptly and effectively. They never walked away until everything was done. I never felt like I was being treated less than his only customer! This company is great. I would highly recommend them . You will find Andy and his staff wonderful to work with.

Joe was late in starting the project  due to not finishing up work with a previous client.  This became a normal event on Mondays for the same reason.  Joe had a problem in communicating with me which hurt the work schedule. Joe's ability to handle a plumbing problem, which was how to purge the system of air, caused the heat to go out after he left the job site.  He had to be called back in to fix that which required a mechanical professional whom he brought in to fix it.  Joe alone could not do it.  Joe developed a communication problem with me which hurt the progress on the job.  He had to run many runs to Home Depot because he did not plan well for getting the supplies he needed. Joe finally left the job site and defaulted because I was a problem and left me with a partially completed project.  The knee wall is about 80% complete, the bath room conversion is about 40% complete, one of the bedroom doors that was installed is binding and pops open frequently.

Overall the job is about 50% finished and Joe has stated in writing that he will never come back to finish the work yet he has collected 2/3 of the money per the contract and I am left to try to find someone else to finish it.  Joe always had to blame me for his short comings.  I am the client, but it sure did not feel like it.  I strongly recommend that if any one uses this company that they specify every little thing that they want in detail, including how many runs to the home parts suppliers would be required, who would be responsible to pick up fixtures and how consulting with the client would be charged for. Joe feels that he is a small 1 person contractor and does not have time to communicate with the client so he low balls the price and then jacks  up the final price by adding extras that were never communicated with the client to his final bill. Over all this has been the worst project result I have ever had and I have had many projects completed by both small and large contractors and never once did a contractor ever default on the contract like Joe did by taking all his tools off the last night then sent an email asking for a third draw against the contract, telling me he would be on the job the next morning knowing he would never return.   BUYER BEWARE.  I thought I had done the right thing when I verified on Angies List Joe's previous Reviews but I guess I just failed to ask for all the details I needed to make a good business decision.

Overall, very well.  It took 12 work days to complete.  Because they sub out everything except the carpentry, scheduling was sometimes an issue but nothing major since we have another bathroom.  Work was done very professionally and the final product looks great. Dust and dirt was contained and did not reach the rest of the house.  We were able to leave the workers alone in the house to complete tasks without incident.  The only problem was a plumbing leak which fortunately was caught early, immediately fixed and the resulting damaged ceiling tiles replaced.

It was excellent! It went really good. We had one little question and they had someone out immediately. Everything went very well. We were pleased with it. I think they were kind of expensive but my husband thought it was okay.
