    Sabol Masonry Inc.
Paul was fanstastic. Team worked neat/clean each day, couldn't even tell they were there. Linda was very professional and helpful through whole process. Able to talk her husband into coming to an area they do not usually serve in Butler County.

    MARIANI & RICHARDS INC
The workmanship was excellent. They pointed the house and did an excellent job. They went above and beyond. The problem I had was that the estimater came up and gave me an estimate and I thought I was clear when I said I wanted the whole house done. Every defect I wanted fixed. They disagreed and said that there are only certain areas covered. If I wanted more done, it would cost more money. It took a while between the signing the contract and starting the job because the worker had a heart condition. It went on for months and months. I understood and I don't have a problem with that. They were professional. I would use their worker but I wouldn't use Mariani & Richards.

Marc contacted me by email, which was well written and courteous - not a text message type communication.  I sent him pictures of my walkway with measurements and he gave me a quote by email within hours.  His quote the same as another one we got so I believe his prices are competitive.  However, we just finished a kitchen remodel and are low on funds so are going to wait a while before having this project done.

    Morow's Masonry Restoration

Very difficult to reach by phone. Does not respond in a timely fashion.

Setup Appointments to estimates twice. No Call - No Show for both.

Finally said that he would stop on his way for a weekend trip (since it was on the way) and gave a time of 6pm. Called around 7:30pm and said that he stopped but nobody was home. He said he gave a look and the chimney that had concerned me and gave me an estimate of $1500 to $2000 for a 4 foot high, 2 feet wide chimney. Then proceeded to explain my other chimney 40 feet by 10 foot would be the same price to maintenance?

Here is the catcher.....Mr. Morow. I was home the night you decided to stop 1 1/2 hour late. I decided that because of your unprofessionalism I was NOT going to use your service. I did not answer the door or your phone call and since you wasted my time on several occasions thought I would return the favor.

What I learned was Mr. Morow gave me an estimate for 2 chimneys and did not leave the ground?! He walked around my property and looked at them. NOTE: the small chimney is on top of a flat section or roof (very very difficult to see from the ground).

    Unbelievable. DO NOT RECOMMEND

I first have to say that I would have given higher scores if the team would have finished the job. The team was nice and seemed to be knowledgeable. They finished the chimney and it looked very good. Based on that I would have given them an A for their quality. However, I regret having them do further work because things went steadily downhill from there. The small walkway seemed to be overpriced at $1000 but since they were here doing other work that would include raising our slightly sunken front walkway, I decided to move forward with it. The small walkway looked ok but the team said it would darken up after drying. A rain storm the same day seemed to make a stain on the walkway. We weren't happy but hoped that it might be less noticeable after the supposed darkening that would happen after curing was complete. After this winter (2013 - 2014) we noticed that all the brush strokes in the cement had crumbled off. That is with only a handful of shovelings down to the concrete surface. The team said they would come back the next day to remove the framing and pins and replace the dirt and mulch around the new walkway. They were also unable to raise the end of the slumping front walkway. They said their jacks just sunk into the dirt because the walkway was too heavy. I told the team that I wanted to talk about other options with the owner since this was part of the price quoted. That was the last I heard from anyone from the company. After about a week I tried calling the company back to ask when they would come finish the walkway framing removal and some missed brick pointing on the side of the house. I got a message saying the phone number was out of service. I tried calling several times thinking I dialed the wrong number but after looking an the business card and online I was certain that I was calling the correct number. I tried again weeks later but got the same message.I ended up taking the framing out myself and replacing the dirt and mulch around the walkway. The front walkway is still slanting and the extra brick pointing is still unfinished. To satisfy my curiosity, I called the business sometime in 2013 and I got the original answering machine that I got when I first called the company. I called from a different phone this time so either they blocked my home number or their business phone number came back on line after months of being out of service. Either option is poor business practices in my opinion. Just to be clear, I called their number only twice before they decided not to come back. Once to setup an estimate and once to confirm that we wanted to proceed with the work.

    Gargiulo Landscape
A barn stone retaining wall in our yard, installed 7 years ago, was sagging in a long stretch. It appeared to be a problem of inadequate drainage control on the uphill side. After notifying us in advance, the owner, Joe Gargiulo staged a small backhoe in our yard, something we never thought possible due to garage, trees, hedge.  They brought the machine down to the wall using heavy rubber pads to protect a stone walkway.

They excavated a trench behind the wall, setting the back dirt aside.  It was determined that the original contractor had not put much gravel under and around the perforated drain pipe.  The next task was to remove all the large stones, down to the base course, and re-set them back slightly into the hill.  Workers in the back of a small dump truck parked on the street and across from a 5-foot wide hedge, shoveled coarse gravel over the hedge and into the backhoe bucket.  At least 24 to 30 inches of gravel filled the trench to provide the necessary drainage situation when they finished.  The trench then was backfilled to bring the grade to the top of the stones, which had not been the case previously, hoping that more run-off will go over the wall.

Everything was cleaned up to satisfaction and the machine removed without incident.  The total time for the work was less than five hours, a project that would have taken days manually.

It wasn't until about two weeks later that Joe Gargiulo came to our door with the invoice.  The amount was less than the proposed amount.  He said it went faster than he thought so he shared that with us.  I have never had this experience!  Everyone on the crew was pleasant, answered questions or explained activities.

When Joe brought the invoice at the end of the day, he was relaxed, came into the kitchen and we talked for over 40 minutes.  Pleasant, friendly, well-presented young man.

    MILO SERVICES MS
Milo Services provided me with a detailed estimate of the work to be completed.  The work was completed in a timely manner.  The details and steps to the job were explained to me as the work progressed through the week.  The area was cleaned up and debris hauled away.  Their expertise, knowledge, and professionalism in the field of masonry was evidenced in the finished product.

Our experience with them was excellent.  They did a variety of jobs around the house that we needed to complete before selling the house, resolving the inspection issues.
